I had a terrible experience with JL Carpet & Upholstery. My rug came back worse than it was when they picked it up. Terrible communication, and dishonest about what was happening to my rug during their cleaning process. Instead of calling and telling me what was happening they text me and said they needed more time to get it perfect. They added dye to areas making new marks that weren't originally there. They had promised and full refund, and than decided to change their mind after I reached out wondering when I receiving the refund. Save your money and go somewhere else. Honest, helpful, and just all around nice people. JL has cleaned our rugs and upholstery and, in other cases, told us that they probably can't. For example, we unwittingly bought a viscose rug (the salesman actually told us it was a wool rug) which, soon after purchase, developed a brown stain from water we used to try to spot clean a stain. We sent a picture to JL, who figured out that problem right away and explained to us that we should have been told these types of rugs need to be dry-cleaned. Of course we had no idea. Jarred and his team regularly transform my sectional sofa from dingy and full of fur to seemingly new, as if I don't have 2 shedding cats. You know how slime is a thing? Jarred gets the slime out of the couch and rug so effectively that my slime obsessed daughter uses his cleaning service as an excuse to continue being sloppy with slime. The nerve! The five star reviews are for real. Pro tip: if your typically active 4yr old is suddenly very quiet and turning green, it probably means something bad is about to happen. And something bad did indeed happen... All over our couch. Needless to say our attempts to clean it up ourselves only succeeded in making matters worse, and so we called in the pros. I left a request for a quote on their website that night and someone followed up with me the next day. Despite being at work and having to go in and out of meetings and constantly missing calls and having to call back, I think I spoke to at least three or four different people in the whole process and each time the new person would know exactly who I was (system identified phone number), and they were able to hand off the case to each other easily. The tech who was assigned the appointment confirmed with me that morning, showed up early, and by 11am I had a perfectly clean couch. And now, I'm off to buy some sofa covers... Later! read more

Jarred was fantastic. He was very responsive when I reached out via yelp late last year for estimates. He gave me an estimate over the phone after I sent some photos and he asked some questions. He set up an in-person estimate to check out the damage close up. He gave me really detailed explanations on what my options were with my stained area rug and took my rug right then, turning around within a week. He's clearly passionate about what he does, knows his stuff and he does it well. Customer service was fantastic for my area rug cleaning. Jarred and his team did a great job cleaning the carpet in our office (which we unfortunately had neglected for several years and was in terrible condition). He talked us through the entire process, was extremely considerate of working around our busy office schedule, and even made a return trip the following day to do additional touch ups so that everything was left to our satisfaction (and even beyond that) before the staff returned the following day. After the level of service with JL, I realize I should probably revise down my other reviews because my curve needs a serious phase shift to the left. Fast service, great communication, transparent quotes, and reasonable pricing. With the exception of not actually ever seeing JL, I felt like I was back in my small town in the midwest dealing with someone trustworthy who actually cared about their business. I had a 2 year old handwoven wool & cotton rug that used to be ivory, became gray after a few too many parties at which I allowed people to tramp in with their outside shoes on, and has now been returned to its original color. The service was so good I'm a little disappointed I never met anybody at the company to directly give my compliments. Because I, like many people in New York, work during normal business hours, and can't get home before 6pm, I left my rug and a 50% deposit with the doorman, JL picked it up, shampooed, rinsed, and hung up the rug for drying, fielded a few "status update" calls from me, returned the rug a week later looking lovely, and then picked up the remaining balance for the cleaning the next week. What a smooth process...no change in pricing, no upselling, no shenanigans. read more

I used JL to clean my rug, sofa, and mattress. They were: -Priced reasonably well. -On time -Professional. -Always responsive. -Very friendly; provided good customer service. -Accommodating to my schedule. My furniture/rug was about 6 years old and my mattress was like 13 years old. My mattress had minimal stains on it. I could definitely tell a difference and saw the discoloration of the water after the furniture/rug was cleaned. For the mattress...I couldn't really tell. He said it would be more visible after drying. All in all...the outcome was satisfactory. read more

Jarred was awesome!! Prompt, professional, and honest. I found him through Yelp and happy his 5 star reviews were true. He worked with my very tentative schedule (I wanted to get the sofa cleaned the same day it was delivered as it was used) where I told him I might have to move back the appointment the same day if my sofa delivery got delayed. He was responsive via text and phone call well before the day of the appointment, which was extremely helpful for me as I called around for quotes, availability etc. He arrived right on time and when he arrived, he gave an honest assessment of my sofa and what he would/would not be able to "fix", given the sofa was used. Seriously, he is fully worth the money. And his price is on par with other upholstery cleaning companies in the area, if not a bit cheaper. Note: The company does give movie tickets to those who write reviews, so that is worth noting as to why he has so many Yelp ravers. That said, I wouldn't write this review if I wasn't being honest. Jarred performed great service at a great price for me and my wife and, other than being hard to get in touch with, we couldn't be happier. We had a couch, a wool rug, and an oriental rug that needed cleaning. I called and was quoted the best price of any other cleaning service I called. We couldn't work out a date for cleaning when I first called, so I was told to text my info and they would get back to me. After a few days and not hearing anything, I called back. I had to do this three times before I reached someone. He apologized and we arranged a date. He came on time, charged exactly what he estimated, and was done in a reasonable amount of time. He took the oriental rug with him to get cleaned off-site. He worked with us as we were moving and needed the rug delivered to a new location. He took exactly the estimated time to clean the oriental rug, then called and arranged drop-off of it and came on time. Wow! My rugs look brand new after JL cleaned my two precious Oriental rugs (one is 20 years old) and feel luxurious on my feet! I had water damage on two of my area rugs and needed them cleaned asap in order to prevent them from smelling like mildew or causing other problems so i called up to get a price quote and see how long the cleaning would take. The price was perfect, right in my budget, and he said they could come the next day to clean/pick up the rugs. Awesome! Jarred was the nicest guy. We had been burned before with a couch cleaning duo who emptied all of their equipment out into our living room before declaring that our couch required $100 more than they had originally quoted. So, I was wary. But Jarred came highly recommended, and our couch was full of the drool, yogurt and whiskey stains one would expect with a one year old son. Two weeks ago, I woke up to a flooded basement, a small lake that reached my ankles. Naturally, as my luck would have it (a new home owner at that). I hadn't gotten the chance to remodel an out dated CARPETED basement. Carpets that I'm not yet ready to toss out. Imagine, it's 7am on a Saturday morning, my husband is off at work, I'm clutching a baby monitor, bare footed in freezing water, removing water in intervals, while I look up plumbers and a carpet cleaning company on Yelp. Thank god it wasn't poo water, I think at that point, I would have thrown my whole basement away! Once the plumbers completed their work, I contacted J.L Carpet & Upholstery based on their great reviews. Jarred, the owner answered my call right away, quoted me an agreeable price, and showed up sooner than expected (having felt my pain) to access the site. Surprised at how much water I had going on in the basement, he quickly set up his equipment and got to work. About 44 gallon later (excluding the additional 12 -15 gallons I myself extracted with a bucket and mop), he later left to retrieve his blowers, set them up with a promise to check up on how things were going and to wash my carpets the following Monday. Sunday and Monday rolled forth with updated calls, yet my carpets remained damp. Tuesday my carpets were dry for the most part and a very pleasant and experienced tech showed up to wash the carpets. Truly amazing owner and staff. I have carpeting throughout bedroom floors and stairs. I now know, just who to call when I'm ready to have my carpets cleaned. read more
