This was my first time here with my friends. We were seated shortly after arriving on a Friday night. I ordered the Atlantic Salmon with green beans and a potato pancake. Super delicious! Waited about 10-15 minutes for our food. We also ordered brisket nachos as an appetizer. They delivered our meals first before delivering our appetizer which was a bummer. The server was nice and attentive. The only thing I would change is to allow for free substitutions. I wanted to substitute my potato pancake for tomato basil soup but I would have been charged extra for it. Interesting spot to find in Coppell. We like it. It's a 3.5. Nice to find Texas Craft Beer in the suburbs. 12 taps - I recall Deep Ellum IPA, Community Mosaid, 4-5 Peticolas... Food has been hit-and-miss. The Cowboy Burger (add a fried egg!) was tasty and love the Hip Chips - most everything else has been somewhere between so-so & bland/boring (i.e., salad, flank steak, pork tacos) . Large restaurant area usually has never been more than 1/2 full (usually only 1-2 tables) when we were there in the evenings. Bar area is small and usually crowded; wish they could find a way to expand it. Bartenders & waitstaff we've encountered have been nice; service has varied between okay and great (Brent). Haven't found this to be a great place to hangout with or meet others.. the bar clientele has either been standoffish and into their own world or, recently, should have been cutoff several drinks earlier (i.e., not fun & tipsy but just simply drunk). read more

J. Mack's is an amazing local spot. The food is always top notch and you cannot go without getting the hip chips! They are always delicious!! Crab cakes and all the salads are good. Can't lie, the chicken tenders are delicious, which makes the chicken and waffles equally delicious. They're just so crispy!! Oh, and the black bean veggie burger is great, my husband is a traditional hamburger lover and though this black bean burger was exceptional. I'm local, so have been here often and tried most of the menu, I haven't been disappointed yet. The staff is very friendly, service is always on point. read more

Food was a bit over priced, but good. My main complaint is that they charged my credit card with another charge that was not mine. I called the manager twice a couple of days apart and was told it would be taken care of. It was not, so I called the credit card company to have it removed. Just watch your card statement if you eat there. read more

Stumbled across this place one Sunday afternoon after looking for a new brunch place. It has cozy and intimate atmosphere but not cramped or small by any means. They had a live musician playing - such a fun touch. Our server was very friendly and attentive and answered all our questions. My boyfriend and I both got the Texan scrambler with a pancake. Everything was so delicious. We loved it all. The pancake and skillet potatoes were my fave. We will definitely come back and try the dinner menu soon! read more

Stumbled upon this great little restaurant. What is not to like? Very friendly and fast hostess. Fast server. Had grilled artichoke, which might be the best I have ever had. Avocado salad. Came during happy hour - $2 off beer and $4 off wine - but would like to try the muddled jalapeño margarita next time. Anna was an outstanding server - efficient and friendly! We had a meat and cheese board that was so well composed - couldn't believe that they had ripe raspberries and blackberries in the middle of winter! The food is always great, but I wanted to give a shoutout to the crew. We were eating outside on a sunny day, when a freak storm hit. Things were flying everywhere and the power was coming in and out. A large branch fell on a woman's car and everyone's food was blown away. The staff was incredibly professional and replaced our food, helped keep everyone to safety, and carried on. It was incredible to see. The manager even held a umbrella to help my friend's baby to his car when we had finished. It was really inspiring how the whole situation was handled, I really can't praise them enough! Love this place. I take many clients here for lunch and they love it also. They have a new menu which has some pretty great things on it like the return of the wings! Great service and great atmosphere. I tried the brunch as well and loved it. I thought i would try it for dinner. (On friday)I had the fish tacos and they where so delicious. One thing i will say is the managers came to my table twice ( two lovely young ladies ) to ask how everything was going. I think that is so important and professional. Here is the negative. Both the ladies smelled like tons of cigarette smoke clouded in a ton of perfume. I'm very sensitive to cigarette smoke and did not think i would have to encounter it in an establishment that does not allow smoking. Other than the smoking, I highly recommend J. This place is fantastic. Service- Amazing a few other restaurants should come shop your people and get an idea for what customer service/hospitality is. Great recommendations from all the staff I've worked with. Food- I have eaten probably everything on the breakfast menu and I have to say wow there is nothing that isn't amazing. I never order the same thing repeatedly when I go out to eat somewhere but the shrimp and grits is probably going to change that for me. Drinks- I have never had the same alcoholic drinks there. Each time the staff recommends something else that I enjoy. *I am just putting this out randomly also. A few people commented on the noise. Unfortunately, the terribly LONG wait (talking about we arrived with only a few customers seated, waited 15 mins for coffee and almost an hour for 3 kids meals and 2 burgers...without forewarning or apology) , and unsatisfactory quality of the food (untypical as we've been here several times before) have made us seriously rethink about returning to J Macklins. Burger was subpar and bacon in breakfast orders was unedible...tasted like it had sat and been fried all day long in week old grease. Discusting and disappointing to say the least. Poblano slaw was an extremely small portion...far less than last time. I'm almost certain we won't be returning. read more

I found this place all-and-all to be acceptable. The menu was mouth watering and they had a wonderful selection of texas beers. Service was miss/miss. We were seating without a word or a smile, brought immediately to the corner next to the bathroom even though there were plenty of other tables. There was a riot of little girls in matching shirts tearing the place apart about 3 tables away. I can't really blame the restaurant, but I suppose remember the location. No one took our drink order, eventually a waiter stopped by to ask if we'd been helped. Service was slow but affable from that point on. They did make the cardinal sin though and dropped off the check and didn't come back around to pick up my credit card for like 5 minutes. The chip/blue cheese app was alright, chewy bacon, decent chips and bleu cheese dressing. The salad was great. I would like to try more on the menu, but we'll see. read more

I've passed this place many times but never thought to check out. Went here for dinner due to a friend's suggestion and I'm really glad I found it. She mentioned that her office nearby had food catered from this establishment all the time. Was a Wed., parking in front was a little dicey @ first due to the nearby Taekwondo studio being in session and it seems parents were there with or picking up their children. No fear though, parents started to leave and there also is additional parking in the back. I ordered the fish tacos based on the tips and reviews from other yelpers and it was satisfying and filling. The slaw was fresh (cabbage, apples, cilantro). Nice fish execptionally seasoned but not overseasoned so it was good enough. The taco was soft. They serve you 3 tacos. I chose to replace the black beans with sauteed spinach. First spinach that came was super salty and they took away and brought a new set back that was way better and either one was not overcooked. My friend had the wedge salad that was beautiful and looked really fresh and she enjoyed it. My friend also got the peach cobbler that was made with fresh peaches. It was devoured. :) Service was fine, our server checked on us continually and the manager brought out the re-fired spinach for me and waited at the table till I tried it out. The folks across from us had salads that looked equally as fresh and the "yelp-famous" grilled cheese and that looked so good as well. I hope I've found my pinch hit dinner place. read more

I went here after church in a Sunday and it was crazy crowded. Due to the amount of people in the place it was loud and hard to hold a conversation. The food was great! We had the queso dip for an appetizer and it was delicious very simple just melted cheese with jalepenos not very spicy which is just how I like it, but you can add salsa to spice it up. For my entree I had the chicken and waffles they were good. I have had better but these weren't to worst either. We came here for a celebration brunch and it was just fantastic! The food was really good and you could either order off the brunch menu or lunch, so there were lots of options! I had the waffles with eggs and bacon and other people in our party had chicken and waffles, omelets, burgers or shrimp and grits. Everyone loved their food. Food was cooked to order and had gluten free options! We will come back again whenever we are in town again! Also the service was awesome, we had a table of about 20 and were in and out in about an hour and a half! We were not rushed or waiting long for our food! The wife and I took a Sunday brunch trip to to J. Mac's this past weekend. She loves it when I say 'brunch." Our first trip here and I was very impressed. We walked in and found a table in the bar, no problem. The view out was great and the televisions were posted well to cover the PGA Championship from all angles. Service was prompt and polite. The menu offered plenty of fancy and normal guy meals. Drinks options weren't an issue either. When we got out food, it was hot and fresh. My wife and I both received large portions that tasted great. The word of the day, savory. We checked out quick and had plenty left for a good tip. The wife picked a good one.
