I am going to keep this simple. 5 stars every time! The service they offer is always on point. Happy employees that have a great working relationship with each other that almost have a family like feel. Super happy to see people enjoy their job. Attentive and helpful every time. We have been here about 6 times in the last two months. Ambiance can be a bit loud depending on the time you visit, but not loud enough to make it hard to listen to the group you share the table with. It looks like they can accommodate a large group. This definitely has a diner feel but modern with lots of memorabilia and photos on the walls music inspired. Food: hard to name all the dishes but they all have been great. Biscuits and gravy are always so fluffy, buttery and the gravy is spot on. But the PANCAKES, my gosh are they so good. I want to just have those every Sunday morning! Thank you for creating such a wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. Will continue to visit as time allows. We just moved to Coppell and are on a mission to support as many local spots as possible. I recently discovered this place and immediately added it to my breakfast and lunch rotation. We showed up around 11 on a weekday and both leaned into breakfast. I ordered the #9, a proper sugar pearl Liège waffle with one egg and sausage, and at ten dollars it felt like a great deal. The waffle was a pretty good example of the true Belgian style (with those sugar pearls) - I have better, but not in a sleepy town diner. My husband went for the migas, which is a little too bold for my more delicate breakfast preferences, but he was very happy with his choice. Our waitress, Sol, was an absolute sweetheart and made the whole experience feel warm and easy. The owner was also there, juggling things while temporarily without a hostess. I briefly considered throwing my hat in the ring. I am already planning a return visit for what looks like a stellar burger and a club sandwich, but there are so many spots around here calling our name that it might take some discipline to make it back soon. read more

Dining solo, I was already considering sitting at the very empty counter when the host made sure to point out the counter table. As soon as I sat, I was given my utensils and pointed to the menu. There was a small wait for someone to ask for my coffee order. That allowed me to browse the menu. I was caught off guard as some combo items were over $17. The warning about undercooked eggs for all the omelette entrees surprised me. Omelettes are never purposely undercooked. I chose the Randall's Chili Cheese Omelette with the country potatoes and sourdough toast. I forgot the last time I had a chili dog or chili cheeseburger. Although it was served with the omelet, the salsa was not needed and would have overpowered the chili flavor. The spices on the potatoes made them irresistible. On any other day, I would have appreciated two slices of sourdough. After finishing half the potatoes, I barely finished one slice. Ordering an English muffin would have been a better choice. read more

Loved it here! Called ahead of time to ask some allergy questions and they were SO helpful!! They double checked with the kitchen to make sure I could safely eat lunch -- which was dope!! The decor is so cool and retro! It's clean and spacious, which friendly people at the front! It's not often that diner-style places understand food allergies, so I was stoked! We had breakfast at Local Diner, Coppell with our sales agent on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at approximately 11:30 am. As we were finishing our meal an employee of the restaurant was standing beside our booth and he shouted rather loudly at someone on the other end of the diner (the entrance from the street, the hostess stand and the cash register) three times. We did not know who he was shouting at. After the third shout our sales agent asked him politely, in a normal tone of voice to please not shout so loud while near our booth as it was startling. At the first shout we feared it was a fire or law enforcement action at the entrance. The employee flew into a rage and moved over to the edge of our booth and shouted at our guest to "Get out of my restaurant, this is my restaurant and no one tells me what to do in my restaurant". When our breakfast guest did not move fast enough to suit the employee he bent down to almost eye level and shouted again "Get out of my restaurant or I will call the cops". Our guest stood up and moved towards the entrance that fronts Bethel Rd. As he approached the door the employee shouted again "You need to pay your bill, pay your bill or I will call the cops." By that time, we had picked up our guest's glasses and telephone and the bill and headed toward the door and the cash register. I handed the glasses and phone to our guest and turned to approach the cash register. While the Local Diner representative was still shouting, I said in a normal tone of voice that I was paying the bill. My daughter and I began eating every Friday morning at the Local Diner under the most polite and caring Frank 'Dinerman' Brightwell when she was in fifth grade and continued that practice until she left for college. After that the Local Diner continued to be our go-to place (a total of 27 years). To have been subjected to such humiliation was appalling to us. While we were talking about this unbelievable turn of events our simple breakfast meeting turned into, I mused aloud how I would review this restaurant and the outrageous behavior of the employee. He heard me and said "Eric(k) Pickett, be sure to tell them my name is Eric(k) Pickett". read more

My friend and I tried this place yesterday and it's a gem. Lived here 25 years and never heard of it or found it until now. How is that even possible, we are foodies. Had the spicy chicken strips with fries and cream gravy, excellent! Not greasy or heavy breading. Fries were seasoned nicely. My friend got the chicken fried steak with fried okra and green beans (fresh, not overcooked), and the best biscuit ever. The service was excellent and manager checked with every guest. The restaurant is clean and fun vintage motif. If you want a good, pleasant meal try here but check their hours. They are a breakfast, lunch place. I know you will enjoy your meal! read more

We love Local Diner for breakfast. It really is such a special place in Old Town Coppell. We almost always order the Border Buster, Texan or No Meat under the Pan Full of Breakfast option. They are hash brown skillet type dishes that have all sorts of delicious hearty ingredients. Their omelets and home fries are excellent as well. The ambiance here is so cool and the service is impeccable with waitstaff who have stayed on for years and if they don't know you by name, they will at least know you by your order! This diner is pretty much everything I could ask for in a diner. The interior has super cute diner vibes with cute booths and tables with curtains between them if you want a little more privacy. ;) There is also a bar you can sit at if you want as you walk in. The wait can be a little bit in the mornings on the weekend but otherwise there is not much of a wait. The food is good and comes out fairly quickly and the variety of options is just enough so you don't get overwhelmed. They have breakfast, lunch, diner, "blue plates", and even desserts. Service is nice and the staff always make you feel welcome and at home. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to try a local diner out with a cozy feel to it. The prices can seem a little high for a diner but the quality of the food is not "diner" quality and the portions are pretty good, too. Definitely recommend their pancakes. Once again I've eaten at the Local D and their customer service is once again outstanding. Never had any issue with parking or getting a table, even though they seemed busy. Came in during lunch on a Friday while staying at great wolf lodge (not too far). Initially I thought this place might be gimmicky, but we were pleasantly surprised at the quality and service. It was my daughters birthday and the waitress treated her extra special. I had the buffalo chicken melt (10/10). My wife enjoyed her omelette with chili, kids really liked the pancakes. There are four of us who play golf at Grapevine Golf Course. After a round we come to eat breakfast at least once a week. Eric and his staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Please don't misunderstand the 3 rating. There was nothing that I disliked at the Local Diner. There was also nothing that really impressed, so that puts me right in the middle. While the exterior has a modern brick feeling, the inside is very reminiscent of a classic 50s or 60s diner. The food is good, the menu is broad, and the service is friendly. It, admittedly, feels pricey - but that seems more the norm when dining out anymore. It's a nice diner, and you get what you'd expect from a diner. I have been frequenting the Local Diner for about as long as I have been back in Texas - over 7 years. This place has weathered the times with success, thankfully. It is a solid local establishment that harkens back to yesteryear. You can't go wrong with anything you order here - they offer a wide variety of breakfast and lunch selections - diner staples from chicken fried steak platters, to omelettes, to skillets, to burgers and sandwiches. They even serve liver and onions, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. My recent go-to has been their tuna melt, which I can't say enough good things about. Their tuna salad is crunchy and has a perfect tuna-to everything else ratio. The tuna salad is not too mayonnaise-y, and it holds up well between the slices of cheese and toasted bread. The fries taste great, and you can't go wrong with their onion rings or sweet potato fries, either. What else is super tasty here, though, is the chicken salad melt. That is my lady's go-to every time. They put dill in their chicken salad, and just enough to where you notice it both visually and orally, but not so much to where it throws off the balance of flavors. God bless, that is a hell of a chicken salad they make. You can see from my pics just a fraction of what I have eaten there over the years. The staff, too, is a good diner staff. This diner is so wonderful! What fun it was to get our "name" called after a short wait for our table! They use old-Hollywood names - we were Fred Astaire! Places like this are such a gem. That being said, I had no idea the food would be THIS top notch. I came for the experience, hoping the food would be decent. I was blown away. The Local Diner pours a very decent cup-o-joe. The service was attentive but never "too attentive" (I actually hate when they pop by every three seconds). They let me tailor my order to what I was craving. Bacon was crispy, the eggs were delicious, and the waffle....oh my gosh I was not expecting that waffle. Those things are out of left field DELISH! All of the food here looks like what you'd expect - small local diner vibe. However, it TATES five times better. We were so pleasantly surprised. My husband ordered the chorizo potatoes with two eggs on top...incredible. The salsa tasted authentic and flavorful. We absolutely loved it. It was a huge portion, too! Everyone was so friendly here and we felt so cozy and welcome. We will definitely be coming back, and are sorry we didn't come by the Local Diner sooner! read more

A classic diner with all of the staples-I felt like I time travelled to the 1950s! The local diner is so cute on the inside- the decor is all black and white with old photos of movie stars hanging around the walls. The music is doowop. They really committed to the theme. It was very clean inside as well. Parking was a breeze - there is a lot behind the restaurant. The food was ok. It was so cheap - I am from California and was astonished to see full sized meals for under $10. This is great, but it also shows through in the quality. It was just ok. My biscuit had clearly come from a frozen pack, and they didn't offer butter-just mini tubs of vegetable fat based product. The pancake was delicious, the eggs were rubbery, and the grits had big clumps in them. A classic diner experience. What really made this place awesome was the service. Everyone we interacted with was so friendly and hospitable. Our server checked on us several times, cracked jokes, and brought everything out very quickly. I think this place is perfect if you want a great classic diner experience. It will not be the best or most creative food of your life, but the price, service, and theme were great and made it a lot of fun to eat here. read more

I had an early appointment nearby and stopped by to grab breakfast to-go from here. If you're looking for a nice place to do brunch with your family, Local Diner is great. It's very retro and there's plenty of staff to help you out. My takeout order came out pretty quickly and it was still hot when I made it back home. As far as breakfast food goes, it does it pretty well and I have no complaints! I love the location and ambiance so will definitely try to make it in time for their breakfast/brunch hours! read more
