Paul was my server and he is always wonderful. He made sure my water was always filled and checked on me just enough. I went with the Sandwich and Salad - $ 24.00 - which is half-sandwich-soup-salad. I ordered the chicken salad (All-white-meat chicken salad with sliced grapes & walnuts. Topped with lettuce, tomato, apple wood smoked bacon strips & Havarti cheese on toasted brioche or sliced multi-grain bread. I love their chicken salad! They used to serve it on a croissant, but stopped as the cost was too high. Unfortunately, the brioche is like a small dense hamburger bun and not a good match for the chicken salad - it made the chicken salad taste not as good. Next time I will order it with no bread, no lettuce, and no tomato. I also like their Oriental Salad, which is Mixed greens, shaved grilled chicken breast, mandarin oranges, green onions, snow peas, almonds, bean sprouts & sesame seeds. Tossed in a plum dressing with crispy wontons. Drizzled with Thai peanut sauce. It's a great salad and I love the plum dressing and Thai peanut sauce! Prompt, friendly welcome. Great wait service, very attentive. Large venue with inside and outside seating options. Clean, comfortable booths and standard height tables. Festive music played but not too loudly. The fish and chips meal included cole slaw. When served, the size of the fish pieces seemed more like nuggets, but it was a mid-day deal consisting of smaller portions. The meal was actually quite filling, perfectly fried. The batter was light and crispy. Complimentary soft dinner roll with butter. The homemade lemonade was tart and a free refill is included. If nothing else J Marks offers a consistency. The food and service are usually good. I like their Miso salmon with garlic buttered broccoli - delicious. Came for a date night. We were sat immediately, hot bread came out seconds later, drinks and food came quick, it was delicious and our server, Candice was the BEST! She was very nice, attentive, funny, and gave great recommendations. Honestly, I would come back just for her and a lychee martini but the food was delicious that it's a win-win. My man had the Hawaiian steak (bomb) and I had the prime rib sliders (her rec and super yummy). We finished with the chocolate cake and were literally scraping the chocolate and pb off of the plate. I have been visiting this establishment for many years. Ive always loved their chicken sandwiches but during the last year the chicken is half the size that it used to be so I stopped ordering it because it's all bun and no chicken. Today I went there and ordered a burger and fries. I asked for extra ketchup. when the order arrived there was one small container of ketchup so I asked for another. They told me I had to use the one they gave me first or they would charge me extra for another. I put half the container on my burger and asked if I could get another for my fries. Literally within a minute or two I would need another for the rest of the fries but they wanted me to empty container before they would get me another one. A restaurant pays about $.02 to $.05 for two oz of ketchup. THAT IS A RIDICULOUS RESTAURANT POLICY TO CHARGE EXTRA FOR 2 OUNCES OF KETCHUP ON A $30 HAMBURGER AND FRIES. 3/05/2025- made a reservation. 5:30pm .We were a party of five we told them we were celebrating a birthday when we walked in. We got hellos and happy birthdays. That was very nice touch, our server Mia couldn't have been any nicer. We had their half size Asian salad to start two of us. One had a Caesar and one had a regular house salad. We had a vegan at the table. He was very happy to see that they had the vegetable zucchini pasta We were easy, 2 of us had the Madeira chicken , comes s w/ mashed, but asked for broccoli, it said in butter, I should have said no to butter. One order the hickory burger thought it was great and another had the bowties carbonara that's with the peas and the bacon in a heavy cream sauce They start you off with these delicious sweet warm rolls so when dinner came, we wanted more and we were told it's $.50 a roll. Stopped by J. Mark's for a late lunch/early happy hour with my business partner, and I totally get why this place is a Fort Lauderdale staple. The service was super friendly and fast, and the happy hour menu (2pm-6pm) had just the right options. We each got a mini slider. He had a cheeseburger, and I went with the bunless ahi tuna. Both came with a little serving of fries, which was perfect when you want fries but don't want to have fries, if you know what I mean. My ahi tuna was so fresh, and the sauce it came with? I could have honestly sipped it straight from the plate. Everything just hit the spot. We were there in an odd time of day so it was fairly quiet and calm. I've been visiting J Marks for over ten years. I really like the out door patio. Recently a few of us came for lunch. We all ordered salads. J Marks salads are always fresh. We rated our salads 10/10. I cannot think of one salad that isn't fantastic. The Ahi Tuna is always perfect. I love their kale salad which has red peppers and peanuts in a honey mustard dressing. The chopped salad is always delicious. Another hallmark of J Marks - the servers! Always great people. Often young, energetic, and attentive. 10/10. I give only 4 stars instead of the usual 5 stars because: - J Marks raised prices like crazy after COVID. The price increases were excessive. - The patio, still great, is looking old. The tables need a new coat of varnish for sure. - the portions have gotten significantly smaller. If you hike prices so much, why diminish the portion size? Seems like a double price hike to me. - menus are looking old and tattered. Some are sticky. J Marks can easily correct these items and get back to their normal 5 star spot. read more

Bolognese Pasta is fantastic and has a little "kick" but the fresh hot bread perfectly complements this entree! then, had the in-house Key Lime Pie which is as good, if not better, than any I have had in the Keys or (wait for it) at Joe's Stone Crabs! We walked into the restaurant and after a nice greeting we could see that there were some large parties here. So we opted to go outside which was a good move. They have a very large area for outdoor dining that was not full and therefore not too noisy, We sat down and was immediately visited by our wonderful waiter who brought [delicious] roles and took a drink order. A few minutes later we ordered our dinners. -Riggatoni with meatballs and goat cheese - I loved this. A delicious marinara sauce with very tasty [small meatballs and [yummy] goat cheese. -Oriental Chicken Salad - consisting of Mixed greens, shaved grilled chicken breast, mandarin oranges, green onions, snow peas, almonds, bean sprouts & sesame seeds. This place is a glorified cafeteria on the way to bad chain-restaurant food with tacky decor. The fresh hot bread basket came out quickly. To quick, because the inside was still raw dough. The grilled chicken wing appetizer is literally that. Full wings of chicken. Not what we were expecting, but I guess they took the name literally. Signature J Mark Cosmo drink was made wrong. Tasted like Robitussin. The Hickory burger, ordered medium, came out well done. The cheese on top was fake shredded cheese from a bag and the bacon was so old it was dried out, brittle pieces left on top. The burger bun was a doughy, tasteless mess. We didn't even complain to the server about anything after we made note of the chicken wings. We paid the bill and left knowing we would never go back. read more

The server Justin was delightful and responsive the place was immaculate. The steak was perfectly cooked to my desired temp. No sauce or any extra flavoring was needed. My wife's salad was pretty tasty as well. They shaved the chicken into the salad and that gives it a nice tender bite. The dressings in the salads were just bursting with flavor, I'm not sure if they do already but they should bottle them. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great steak. The only thing I didn't like the last time I was there is that the soup came out cold I did mention it into the bartender he has to fix it and I just said that I don't worry about it and then he proceeded to take it off the bill. How have I driven by this place for all of these years and never gone in? Well last night I rectified that and had a great night at J Marks. We stopped in for dinner and sat at the large indoor/outdoor bar. The place was hopping and they were clearly understaffed but that didn't let Oscar, bartender extrodinaire, get him down. He quickly got us our drinks and a couple of menus. I was starving so I ordered a Caesar salad, New York strip steak and a loaded baked potato. My friend wanted to try a couple of the pasta dishes so he ordered the penne pasta with chicken and a jambalaya pasta. All were huge portions so we have plenty of leftovers for another day. The prices were certainly reasonable and the menu was large enough for all in your group to find something that they might enjoy. The food was good, hot and well seasoned. The drinks well poured and the clientele friendly and engaged. The manager even came around to see how things were going and I told him how impressed I was with the staff and food. I don't live far so J Marks is going to go on the list for a local neighborhood place for good food and drink when I just want a casual night out! read more

We were pleasantly surprised to see an old manager there Juan, he has retunes and made a big difference in service and quality of food and drinks!
