Our most recent problem came from a leak in our bathroom faucet that was replaced about 6 years ago. When this faucet was installed we asked the plumber to install the new faucet and replace all the original pipes under the sink. When the plumber arrived he said he would not replace the existing plumbing under the sink but only install the new faucet. Because the plumber was already at our home we decided to have him install the faucet. We have relied on them in the past had good service and i think fair if on the high side pricing for complicated problems in an old house. Saturday afternoon and the washing machine was backing up into a shower. One toilet plugged and now the second toilet too. Panic! Aifter 25 years here, we'd never had this predicament. Our regular plumber was in transit from Puerto Rico and his referral was swamped. Turning to recommendations on Next Door, McKeeve got good reviews for competence and their answering service was on the ball! Oscar responded in less than half an hour and was here in under an hour. Three access points, three routers and three hours later, the system was still clogged. The solution was to install a second clean-out to access this part of the system. Monday morning, bright and early, Oscar, his assistant and Jeff McKeeve himself were on the job, installed a 3" exterior access point and cleared the pipes. On Christmas Day, the cleanout from the house to the sewer backed up from roots in the pipe. I called Roto-Rooter. They got enough of the roots out to clear the line. The following week I called Jeff because of a recommendation I got from a friend who is a CA licensed general contractor. Jeff put a camera in the cleanout and showed me where the remaining roots were ... then ... we had a discussion respecting what choices were available to prevent roots from getting into the cleanout in the future. What impressed me was what Jeff advised that I did not need. He said I did not need to dig up the driveway and replace the pipe. He also told me that I did not need to line the pipe which is expensive [5K-7K]. Jeff recommended hydro jetting the pipe ... which would remove any roots remaining. He said that after this process, he would pour a solution into the line which inhibits [slows down] the roots from returning for a while. However, he advised maintenance every 6 months to ensure that no roots were returning. WOW ... what an honest guy ... Wish there were more folks like Jeff "around these parts." read more

Robert returned my call and came out to assess our issues. He said he couldn't do anything until cracked pipe under the house was fixed and area dried out. They are plumbers aren't they? In any case called someone else and completely repiped under the house and had restoration dry everything out. I left two messages so he could then install faucets on tub and sinks. NO callback for either. Have the courtesy to at least text to say you aren't interested in the job! Won't use them again! Very poor customer service. read more

One of the drivers (assuming that there's more than 1) tried to run me off the road this morning. I was driving today with my 12 month baby and 2 daughters in the car and there was a car in front of me slowing down to make a right turn so naturally I slowed down only to look in my rear view mirror and see a guy in a van driving extremely close behind me to the point that I had to speed up in order not to get rear ended and turned onto the fwy on ramp to get away from this crazy driver. Cal Water telephoned me to inform me I had a undetected water leak, and it was a significant source of water loss! Cal Water sent two service reps to my home to shut my service off pending repair of the leak. (Senior citizen under Covid shelter in place) both Cal Water reps worked very hard to try and find the leak; not wanting to leave me without water. I called a plumber recommended on Nextdoor.com as being very reasonable in price. The result of that was I paid for repair of a pipe that did not appear to be leaking at all based upon inspection of the piece of pipe replaced and the lack of water/mud under the pipe's location. And, of course, the leak persisted as evidenced by the meter's reading. Cal Water confirmed the undetected leak still was a problem. I called McKeeve plumbing because a friend of mine went to school with Jeff McKeeve and told me I could trust him, and another friend of mine said she has been using him for years because they are reliable and do good work. I got a bid from Jeff for the repair of the leak in the main line from the meter and the leak under the house and he explained it would not be the cheapest bid but he would guarantee the work, and there would be no "add on" costs during the project which took a whole day. He explained they would do the repair under the house first and if that stopped the meter from running continuously they would not do the main line. He and his crew showed me everything they were doing (taking photos of the pipe leaking under the house and evidence of how long it had been leaking, and the soggy area where the main line was indeed leaking) So I can attest to McKeeve's reputation for honesty and good work. His crew was very professional and I am happy with the quality of the work and the care they extended to my property. I will be calling them next time I need a plumber. Sometimes it just is not a good idea to go with the cheapest bid; better to go with the provider with the better reputation. read more

I can't say enough positive things about McKeeve's. When our regular plumber wasn't able to replace our hot water heater, I called McKeeve's. Jeff came out the next morning, took photos and measurements of our current heater; he called that night and explained to us what we needed to do and that he would take care of it as soon as possible. His plumbers arrived on time and worked efficiently and professionally. Since then we've had them replace valves under our bathroom sinks and replaced the main water shutoff. Jeff is currently researching new bathroom hardware for us. I have seldom worked with a company that is this efficient and capable. Excellent! Called several plumbers today with an emergency and no one was willing or able. Robert called back and came exactly when we planned. There was a leak that was not visible and he was knowledgeable enough to go right to the source opening the ceiling in just the right spot. Talk about money down the drain! Kitchen sink stopped up. A "friend" recommended McKeeve when my usual plumber was away. Robert's snake got stuck in the pipe under the house and it took time to get it out. He never checked the area between the sink and the pipe going down to the line he had dealt with. I was charged over $400, then had to pay additional money to another plumber who took 15 minutes to get the simple work done properly and for an acceptable fee. Anyone who thinks of hiring this company is plumb crazy!!! read more
