J-N-S, Hawthornes iconic car wash, located on rt 141... First, the staff member who runs it (I believe his name is Leo) is fantastic. Friendly and very hard working. The car was itself is in need of some tlc... inside is a mess, bathrooms are locked and have been "out of order" for over a year... the cash register is blocked off by an old bench and the once used air freshener and drink area are locked. The owner is not too friendly, and seems to care about softball more than his car wash. Prices are a bit high, and although the outside usually comes out alright - interior vacuuming is rushed and often sub par... Another complaint is that staff members do not try out trunk jams, which when you pull away cause dirty water stains on your back bumper. This is like getting a new haircut and not trimming the back, what's the point??? I've seen this location change hands a few times, it seems like new ownership brings new life but then they get bored. Well the current J-n-S owner to me seems to be in the bored phase. Might be time to pass it along to someone new. read more

Terrible job. I got the "Home Run" this morning, which supposedly includes everything. Splotchy, poorly wiped down, didn't wipe out cup holders, and failed to vacuum out the rear cargo area (small SUV). $26. Definitely not worth the money. You're better off spending $5 on a drive through car wash and wiping everything / vacuuming yourself. read more

They rush the job. Paid $22 and they were supposed to clean the inside of the car too. They did but very hastily. There was dirty water on top of the leather seats (dropped from one of their towels maybe). They sprayed the leather seats with the same stuff they sprayed the window with. Lots of soap stains after the wash. Lots of streaks. First and last time there. read more

I found this place on Yelp a couple weeks ago and went for a car wash after lunch. I wasn't very pleased after my first trip here. I bought the "double" which includes a cleaning of the dash, windows, cupholders, etc... for $16. The exterior looked great but the interior looked pretty much the same. I decided to give these guys another try because the location is convenient. Again, I bought the double and expected it to look better - after all, they were pretty busy the last time I went. This time, however, I was the only person there. Again, they did a very mediocre job, I ended up cleaning the interior of my car when I got home. Not happy about it, probably won't be back. I found a different car wash on Yelp that I'll be visiting next. read more

Decent car wash... Here's the negative. Bent the front license plate on my car and now the plate will never look flat. Brought my wife's suv and bent the license plate also. This carwash was recently reopened under new management. Before it closed for renovations, it was my go-to car wash for years. I pulled in for a wash and vacuum, hopped out, and went to wait in the small air conditioned waiting room. After a while, I thought, Gee, it must be ready by now, and looked out the window. There I saw two technicians finishing up drying the outside and polishing the interior--with what can only be described as loving attention to detail. The car was ready in another minute, and the two techs gave me smiles as I took the wheel. People, I've never seen my car so clean. It was almost like it had been detailed-- and for just 12 bucks! Polite, friendly service, not too crowded, (although that's sure to change!) JNS is definitely tops on my list for car "spa" care in this area. I left a big tip! read more

The owner John fixed my mirror and replaced it without issue. He did do the right thing. I am thankful it was fast and easy to get replaced.

For what they charge, they do a terrible job. Cup holders are never cleaned. Under seats are not vacuumed

I'm pretty loyal to my car wash in the bronx but it's very time consuming and always crowded so I have a tendency to not go as often as I should. I discovered this place on my way to work and decided to check it out because I am so long overdue and there wasn't a long line and I can tell you this is going to be my new spot. I went to this car wash because I kept seeing flyers all over town saying they had this great deal: $20 for unlimited monthly exterior wash. So I went to their website to double check the deal and it was posted there. Went to the car wash today and asked for the deal and they told me it "doesn't start until next month". So pay $8 per wash instead of the $20 unlimited. I told them about the flyers and website, so the guy went and asked the owner and he denied the deal. I was forced to go through the car wash since I was box in by others cars. I never would have gone here if I didn't know about the monthly deal. I think that's how the get customers in. Bad experience, will not be returning. read more

This place wasted no time reminding me why I stopped going. Someone went overboard trying to get bird crap off car and left a set of scratches in its place. Manager immediately on defensive ("impossible!") and essentially accused me of trying to frame him for it. I know my car better than he knows his employees' every move. I took my BMW 760 for a was today. I paid $15 cash for the works and they did not give me a receipt. The car went through the wash and when they finished cleaning and drying the car ...the car mat was still visibly dirty and the windows and around the doors were not properly cleaned. Unhappy, I did not complain. I swore that was the last time I was going to that carwash. When I drove off and reached the highway literally 30 seconds away I heard a hissing wind sound. I looked up and saw the sun roof was partially opened. I am thinking...why would someone want to open the sun roof....it was 35 degrees. I tried to close it but it was stuck. I drove back to the carwash to get a receipt and to find the owner and let him know what happened. I showed the manager who took my money earlier ...what happen and explained that if the car went through the carwash like that it would be flooded from the opening. The car was dry inside.The manager practically accused me of damaging my car myself and would not give me his name but I did get a business card of the owner and I put a call in to him. I believe that the people working there has no training, no supervision and they are careless and irresponsible. read more

This is the best car wash around unless you really want to pay to get your car detailed. The monthly membership is a great deal if you go at least 3x per month. If you are unhappy with the results you can let management know and they will re-wash for free. read more

I've always been pleased with the car wash at this location. I've seen reviews that say spots are missed (at least under the old owner). I've not noticed that. I just notice that my car leaves cleaner and shiner when I leave than when I came. And it doesn't cost me me much. I usually just get a wash, but today I got the triple ($16). It all worked out well. After the first pass I noticed that there still was debris embedded in some carpet in an area that was not very accessible. I came back promptly and asked them to go over it quickly with the vacuum. By far the best car wash around! I have a Range Rover, my husband a Jeep Wrangler, my brother a Jeep Grand Cherokee, my parents a BMW X3 and a Mercedes 500. Not one of us has ever had any issues. Beware. I just brought my brand new car here for the "double" treatment (simply, interior/exterior wash) and when they were through, my car was literally covered in white streaks and gunky white residue. After I complained, they wiped some (but not all) of it off. I left and as I drove away I had trouble seeing out the windshield due to all the residue. I could also see that they had completely missed washing large sections of the windows. I pulled over and wiped away some more of the residue so that I could see. That's when I noticed that there were little nicks in my windshield that had never been there before (as I said, this is a brand new car and I've had it for only a few weeks). I brought the car back to complain and they tried to convince me that the nicks in the glass were tree sap. They came out with Windex and a rag and tried, without success, to clean them off. I asked for the owner and he came out and said, yeah, I have nicks in the glass but it didn't happen there. He showed me their equipment and tried to convince me that it was an impossibility. The nicks were new but I had no way to prove it so I finally relented and left. Now every time I look out my windshield, I see the little chips in the glass and I feel disgusted. Stay away from this place. I used to bring my cars to this car wash when it was under previous ownership and it was always a good experience. Things have certainly changed for the worse. read more

This car wash is horrible. I was a long time customer when it was Hawthorne Car Wash. Ever since "Big John", the new unbelievably nasty owner took over, it's gone to crap. I paid $20 for the triple which includes interior service. I had to come home and clean hair and water splash marks out of the car myself. Do go here. read more
