My daughter went to the salon on Friday 12/13 for her first acrylic nails. She was so excited. But when she showed me them when she was done I thought she was wearing press-on nails. They are crooked and pointing upward. I'm surprised someone let her walk out of the salon with nails that look so terrible. It's not a good representation of your business. Being that she's a teenager and was with two friends and their father, she didn't say anything. She also said the nail technician kept pulling on her hand and telling her to relax. If you don't want to work with teenagers or think they don't deserve a quality experience, then just say that up front instead of allowing people to waste their money. Seriously, would you be happy if your nails were pointing up at the sky? They look silly. If you're interested in correcting this please let me know. I'm happy to work with you on a solution. I have given this place 3 chances : 1st time: it was a guy. Firstly, he kept commenting on what a terrible job the last nail place had done on my nails ( not true, I changed jobs and can no longer go to my old salon, or I would). I had dip powder done. He didn't use base coat, which I found strange, but my nails started to chip 2 days after I had them done. 2nd time: because my nails started chipping so soon, I went in to get one repaired. They do not make appointments for repairs, so I waited 40 minutes to get my nail repaired. The lady ( I think she's the boss) was very rough with my repair, but did a decent job when it finally got done. 3rd time: went to have dip removed and a new color. I had an appointment and still had to wait 30 minutes, even after I had told them that I was on my lunch hour, so of course I was late getting back to work. I went in today and asked for cat eye, the nail tech doing my nails left bumps, streaks and parts of the nail with no color. When I asked nicely if they could fix it for me they said they could only fix the nail with the bump. I wanted a color change because it was clear on most of my nails that the way they did cat eye was very streaky but they said that if I wanted a color change it would be an extra $29. I don't understand why I would have to pay on top of my total when they were the ones that made the mistakes. When they initially brought out my total it was $61 but when I pointed out the mistakes they didn't only add the color change fee of $29 but also said they were adding $2 for the cat eye they had messed up and $2 for the nail length sense the first time they drew up the total they forgot to charge me for "long" nails. I do not recommend coming here. This is my replay to your replay. Yes, I confirmed the color. However I did not confirm to the streaks on most nails and the missing polish also on several nails. Ventilation system filters out all harmful orders, leaving a refreshing atmosphere. Walk-ins are always available, and the staff are all very welcoming, friendly and professional. I will admit I am not always the best at making appointments and accept having to wait for a walk in but I don't appreciate the lack of transparency with wait times. From the moment I entered ,I felt unwelcome, The staff glanced at me with disinterest and ignored my presence. The place is new and looks clean. However, the service is not customer friendly at all. They charge extra for paying with CC, they charged extra for removing the previous gel nail polish that's been done by them in my previous manicure session. The nail techs speak hardly any English, they don't even smile at people. They don't understand your preferences/requests. The last time I had my nails done, I wanted to have my nails be free of any polish, just clear. Yet the clean-up of the gel was not thorough! I don't know why people are complaining about their service taking too long. Honestly I'd rather someone take their time, instead of rushing through the service and cutting me or messing up my nails. My nails last around 2-3 weeks depending on how hard i am on them. Usually the latter. The salon is so nice, clean, and they sanitize their tools drill tools/autoclave others. Lastly i enjoy being able to match any colors regardless of what type of polish (gel, regular dip etc) it's overwhelming at first because most salons have mismatched pedicure colors and the other colors for other services. I came in and told the lady at the front desk that I wanted acrylic toenail. She told me that they would have to look at my nails to make sure they were healthy enough to do acrylic on them, I proceeded to tell her that if they can not do acrylic than I do not want any service. She sat me down for my pedicure and told me that I would be fine for acrylic. After my pedicure when it came time for the acrylic she came back over and told me that unfortunately my nails were to healthy and they can't do acrylic on them only on unhealthy nails they do that service. I told her that i was very clear from the beginning what i wanted and that I will still move forward with the acrylic. After going back and forth she told me that the lady who does acrylic toes was actually not on shift and that they could just paint my nails instead. I specifically told her when I came in exactly what I wanted and was told yes before I agreed to service. I started going to J Nails and Spa in early January. I've had great service. My manicures and pedicures always come out beautiful and my gel builder nails last for two plus weeks. I've had Crystal, Polly, Jasmine and Tim so my nails and they always come out looking professional and gorgeous. The spa is new and sparkly inside. It's huge. I usually go during the week to avoid crowds. I recommend making an appointment, but they do take walkins, so if they've taken someone close to your appointment time, there may be a little wait. They take their time and do a fantastic job. Is it a little more expensive than your run of the mill nail job down the street? Yes. But you get what you pay for. I went in yesterday and I was there for over two hours, the lady doing my nails kept getting up to talk to her coworkers! My nails don't even look the same, some are thicker than the others and some are longer! Like many reviews on here I got my nails down by Jasmine (owner) and she didn't talk at all, but did talk to the other nail tech a lot and would also get up and go do something multiple times which made me feel she has no respect of others time. I wanted to wait a day until I wasn't super angry but the the last time I received service here is something I won't forget. I've never been treated so poorly at any establishment. I will only continue to support this place as long as the nail tech that I followed is working there. I made an appointment several days in advance and something came up for the original nail tech so they weren't able to make it to work. I then was asked if it was okay upon arrival if someone else did my nails, in which I hesitantly responded yes because I had already driven from Tacoma. I'm very hard on my nails and I tend to chew and pick at them (bad habit, I know) so I had been missing some nails. When the nail tech, Polly, sat down to do my nails she already seemed put off that she had to remove the remaining nails. Other reviews state they soak off your old acrylics but this was not the case. She instead, took a tip of a nail and rigorously started to take off the nails. At one point it hurt so I said something and did not get a response. After the nail came off you could tell some of my original nail came off with it. When she started putting the acrylic on I said I did not want them thick (very nicely) and she said "I heard, thick isn't my style anyway". The only reason she heard was because my mom was also getting her nails done by another tech at the same time. The entire time we were there Polly and Jasmine were speaking Vietnamese to each other and we could tell they were talking about us and our nails. Commenting on the color we wanted because that's the only English we heard was bubble bath (the color we both enjoy). They spoke very little to us, in fact Jasmine did not speak to my mother at all - no hello, no thank you, nothing. Yes, my nails did turn out nice but the customer service will leave a bad taste in my mouth for a very long time. As said earlier, I will only continue to come back as long as the nail tech I am requesting is there. I left angry, disappointed, and belittled and that is not something you should feel after spending almost $80. Nails should be a relaxing experience and customer service is a big part of that. I left a tip because you should and it's something you do for good service but I didn't tip as much because I literally got no customer service. *I am updating my review to 3 stars instead of 1. Although yesterday was not a good experience the establishment itself is beautiful and usually the customer service is good. My nails have always come out looking nice. Went to try the salon on two occasions. I've now been racially profiled and refused service now twice. On my first visits I attended the salon with a friend. W/F and we both checked in and were seated next two each other she is serviced and I B/F sat in the station beside her and was not acknowledged one time in the hour and 23 minutes post checking in. Her service is completed and she pays (I had still not been serviced or spoken to by this time) so I proceed to exit with her.Think hey maybe they simply forgot. My friend asks on the way out "hey was there any particular reason she was not serviced," man attending the desk says "oh we were going to service you guys together." Weird response as she had been serviced completed and paid and I still had not been spoken to but again things happens. I returned 2 days after at 11:30 on a Wednesday 1/10. I go to sign in on the tablet and the same man intercepts me and asks "Did you know what you wanted. We are actually booked for the day we have incoming appointments." Before I could even reply with the service I wanted. Very disheartening experience. I had never experienced anything of the sort in my life. This was an absolutely terrible feeling.
