The skewers turned out great, a bit on the cold side (they were probably left off the grill for too long). The bbq sauce was interesting, defintely not the same to the southern style bbq sauces. They also use dark meat, so the skewers were never dry and always juicy. They cooked the skewers in the open charcoal grill. The pit master looked like he was having fun, vibing to the music and looked like everyone (staff and customers) were having a great time! If you see them in the next festival, would recommend to try them out.

I was able to try Liko's BBQ recently at Alohafest at Mel Lastman Square, located in North York. In terms of food items, during the event they were offering 3 items: - Aloha plate lunch (includes Kalua pork, BBQ chicken, beef short-ribs, white rice, and mac salad) - Loco moco - Spam musubi (2 pieces per order) My partner and I opted to get 2 Aloha plate lunches and a spam musubi order. The plate lunch was $18 but boy oh boy...the amount of food that you get in one order definitely made the money worth it. I was not able to finish my portion as well and had to save some for the next day. In terms of the individual items in the plate lunch, everything was cooked well. The marinades on the chicken and short ribs were unique. I probably liked the chicken the best. The Kalua pork was tender where it was delicious with rice. The mac salad had some potato in it and was good as well. The spam musubi was delicious as well. I mean...obviously can't go wrong with spam unless you aren't a fan of it. Overall, a great snack portion. LIko's Hawaiian BBQ was a treat! Hope to be able to purchase food from them again in other events they attend.

The fried squid was incredible and I can't remember the sauce but it added some umami flavor. Chicken satay with peanut sauce was lovely. And I liked eating the linguine too, the curry-like flavor was incredible. I drank a zero proof coconut pineapple cooler mocktail and it had a nice taste but an interesting aftertaste. Overall very cute place, although I will say it's not super cheap, I do like the family concept of the meals and how we shared everything! I'd say it's 40-70$ per person so make sure you bring enough:)

We tried the Summerlicious lunch menu and added a couple of skewers…read more Grilled Chicken Satay The chicken was juicy and not dry. The peanut sauce reminded me more of Chinese satay sauce than traditional satay--it was thick and covered the chicken completely, overpowering both the chicken itself and the turmeric spices. Personally, I prefer satay where the chicken is the star rather than the sauce. Beef Tongue Skewer Instead of the thick-cut beef tongue you'd find at an izakaya, this one uses thin slices stacked onto a skewer, more like Japanese yakiniku. The texture was tender, and each bite was packed with the sweet and tangy glaze. The downside is that the thin slices char easily, and some edges were a little overdone. Still, I thought it was an interesting idea. Charred Cabbage A generous portion that's great for sharing. The cabbage is paired with dan dan sauce, rayu, and kimchi furikake, bringing together Chinese, Japanese, and Korean flavors. None of them dominate, but they work surprisingly well together. Salmon Tartare The yuzu ponzu and avocado complemented the salmon beautifully. They enhanced its freshness while balancing the richness, making the dish bright and refreshing. Pork Belly Loco Moco A Hawaiian comfort food built around rice, meat, a runny egg, and gravy. This version uses charcoal-grilled pork belly and a sweet tonkatsu-style gravy, adding Japanese and Korean influences. It definitely feels like Pacific Fusion, although the different elements felt more like they were placed together than truly creating something new. Mochiko Fried Chicken My favorite dish of the meal. The crust was crisp and packed with flavor, rather than relying on a coating of sauce like Korean fried chicken. You first taste the seasoned crust, followed by juicy chicken. The rice also had a subtle coconut aroma that was a pleasant surprise. Mango Custard Tart Layers of mango jelly, salted cream, coconut Chantilly, and tart shell created a nice sweet-and-salty balance. Well executed, although it wasn't particularly memorable. Lemongrass Crémeux The lemongrass crémeux had a texture somewhere between mousse and pastry cream, with a slightly sandy richness that I really enjoyed. Pineapple jam added a vibrant tropical fruit note, while the mango pieces brought a pleasant contrast in texture. The lemongrass and sea salt tied everything together beautifully. A well-balanced sweet-and-savory dessert, and my favorite dessert of the meal. Overall, Lulu Bar is a fun Pacific Fusion spot with plenty of creative ideas. Not every dish was a hit, but several combinations really worked. It's the kind of place where you can enjoy some unique flavors without taking the meal too seriously, and that's exactly what I liked about it.

Honestly wasn't the biggest fan of the fried chicken as I found it lackluster. I really enjoyed the aloha burger though. Chorizo burgers are definitely more unique and I really liked the flavor and the grilled pineapple (I will always argue in favour of pineapple on burgers and pizzas). We also ordered drinks and they were not watered down which I appreciate. Overall presentation was A+, great place for a casual date with the girls or your partner.

I decided to get a Blue Hawaii cocktail, which was beautifully presented to me. My friends also enjoyed their cocktails, and the time to wait for a table went by fairly quickly. We decided to share an order of their vegetarian baos, which were pretty good and surprisingly hearty. We asp shared an order of their tempura corn fritters, which were also hearty and tasty. I decided to get their jackfruit fried rice, which was unfortunately pretty lackluster. I felt like it needed something, perhaps more salt or soy sauce. Other than that, we had a lovely meal here and the restaurant itself was beautiful. A fun place to go out to if you happen to be in Toronto.

I arrived at around 5:00 on a recent Saturday, and since I was meeting two people, I was shown to a comfy booth. I was excited to take advantage of the Happy Hour menu, but it wasn't provided. I assumed maybe our server was waiting for the rest of my party to show up to mention the Happy Hour menu, but he never did. It was a weird move that struck me as kind of gross and sleazy. It also didn't help that he was hardly present at all, which meant a long wait between drinks. The drinks were tasty, at least. They were far from strong, however, which is certainly not what one associates with a tiki bar. We also got a fried rice dish and their coconut shrimp, both of which were quite good. The portions seemed a little small for the prices, so that was a bit of a bummer. The Shameful Tiki Room was far from the super fun experience I remembered, but it's possible they were having an off day. I'll check it out again in another few years, probably.

We all got different things out the menu and everyone really enjoyed what they had. I got the Orange and General Tso's chicken lunch specials respectively, which came with rice and a Mac salad as well for both. Along with the food, we had some different fruit teas, including passionfruit and mango along with Boba milk tea with Taro. It was a large order so of course it took a few minutes to prepare everything but I think from the time I ordered to the time they handed it to me, it was about 20 minutes. The place isn't very large inside, but there is plenty of room for seating if you wanna dine in or just wait and grab for takeout. Definitely looking forward to my next visit there to try more things from the menu and maybe get a Poké bowl next time.

Chimichurri steak was pretty tasty. It was cooked to medium. Loco moco was pretty good though slightly overcooked. Sides & rice were quite plain. Pork adobo plate lunch (lunch portion): pork was tasty: sweet, sour & salty with some fat. Some sauce dripped down & flavoured the rice. There was seaweed on the rice which gave it an umami boost. There was a good balance of spam & rice & quite a bit of seaweed. Huli Huli chicken plate was tasty with moist chicken & a hint of chili. There was a good sweet, savoury & sour balance. They've been a staple for poke in the area for years, however, their menu has expanded to include more Hawaiian foods like plate lunches and snacks (like onigiri and spam musubi). I recently stopped by Pokito to pick up take out for dinner as I had stumbled upon a $10 coupon from the restaurant over Facebook. Upon entering, the space is inviting and warm, with wooden accents throughout the space. There are several tables if you'd like to dine in. The menu is large and they also have daily deals as well. In the small fridge display they have a sample of their poke on display along with other items like onigiri, desserts, and drinks. Their poke bowls are likely the most popular items to be ordered but definitely don't skip out on the plate lunches as well! I opted to grab a garlic shrimp scampi plate lunch (tail-on shrimp sauteed in buttery garlic sauce on rice (can choose between white or brown rice) with mac salad and a salad slaw) for $22.50. I did have $10 off my order which was great. If you sign up for their rewards program you also get other deals as well (the next deal I get is 50% off a plate lunch for a limited time!). My order was made fresh which took about 5-10 min. I didn't mind as I just sat down to wait. Service was friendly and efficient. I had my garlic shrimp scampi plate lunch for dinner. Beware that the shrimp is really garlicy and delicious! Just be careful if you need to talk to someone afterwards because they will smell it. The rice absorbed some of that garlic flavour which made the rice even better. The mac salad was great and the salad slaw helped to cut through everything as well. Portions were large and I was full afterwards. Overall, a great place for Hawaiian plate lunches (and I'm sure poke as well!) in the Queen/Spadina area. Definitely will return to try more of their plate lunches as well as poke.
