We had very mixed reviews for our dining experience. The service was attentive but very slow. We got the cold sides quickly, and they were really good. But It took a while to get the food to cook out to us. The chicken was frozen but delicious after it was well cooked. The beef bulgogi was an odd color but tasted really good. It was great trying all of the different items on the menu. The Express was a bit under seasoned and really didn't suit the person who ordered it. The Pho was a hit. It was a very quiet place for a Sunday afternoon. I hope people try this place out. read more

I've been in this area for work in the past, but just notice the opening of Jab-Sa. Awesome Korean BBQ experience with a friend with varied menu options and Korean drinks! The service was friendly and helpful, which is a requirement in a "do-it-yourself" restaurant. It was casual and quiet when I went, but according to the waiter it can get busy and is hopping on the weekends. Jab-Sa is a great place to try Korean for the first time. It is very accessible and the flavors are mild compared to authentic Korean restaurants. You can tell they are still experiencing the growing pains of a new restaurant, so come with an extra dose of patience. Our server was very friendly and he tried to make our experience nice. He was genuinely kind. In terms of expectations, if you are familiar with the Korean palate, remember that this is Lavonia. The strong flavors one would normally find are turned down, which may be a good idea because those flavors may turn off a lot of novice eaters. The kimchi was more gochujang instead of fermentation. There were some interesting flavor combinations, one of which is the "carmel" sauce. I still can't get my head around it. The closest comparison I can make would be a Japanese Teriyaki. I still don't know if I liked it or not! I could do without the soybean powder. I would replace it with dry salt (instead of mixing it with the sesame oil). I would also suggest adding a mix salad or mixed greens to their banchan. Also, rice is a extra cost?? I hope I heard that wrong, it should come with the dinner set. The last comment is the prices. They are on par with the Korean Restaurants in Atlanta, but Atlanta this is not. I would highly recommend the owners do some research on the all you can eat options that many kbbq places are moving towards. I think that would be a big hit with this area. I wish Jab-Sa all the best a Korean style restaurant. We will be back with family but sadly this will not be replacing our go to Korean Restaurants. read more

Jab-Sa is a good place to go when there are no other Asian-type of restaurants around. The KBBQ is 6/10. The cuts of meat look nice but it isn't much as you are paying per cut of meat instead of an AYCE style KBBQ. I'd recommend ordering from their made-to-order menu over their KBBQ, unless you have the $$$ to try the KBBQ combos. The price of the made-to-order foods seem a little high in my opinion. I would say $3-$6 more than other places that serve the same dishes. Ratings: Spicy bulgogi, 8/10. (Strongly recommend) Beef fried rice 8/10. (Very unique but good) Chicken wings combo, 7/10. (Nothing special, good for kids or picky teens) Pork Katsu, 6.5/10. (Not what I expected of Katsu) Service was good. The waitress gave us plenty of refills, they forgot to put one of our dishes through to the kitchen but made up for it by adding free shrimp tempura, that was a nice touch. Service, 9/10. The setting is good, any of the long brown tables are nice but the circle tables seem to be a little harder to arrange food on since it's smaller and at an awkward height. Overall, 3/5 when factoring in service, food, prices, and surrounding competition. If you don't want to drive an hour south, go here, if you don't mind the hour drive south, do it. read more

The staff was also attentive and patient as we explored the menu. The restaurant was clean and the music wasn't so loud as to impact conversation. I ordered Beef Bulgogi Dupbob. Thin sliced sirloin with rice and cabbage with bean paste soup. It was wonderful! I will definitely return and expand my taste buds further. Right off the bat, excellent service, friendly, even though a bit inexperienced they care about the customer experience. We are passing through but and didn't really know where to go so we stop here for dinner. We really enjoyed to variety of food dishes. Hats off to the chef. Happened to be on our way to Athens for KBBQ from Greenville which is almost 2 hours away, at about the 50min mark we saw an exit with a KBBQ sign. I immediately researched and we did a U-turn to check it out. Jab-Sa is a little gem and totally unexpected for the area we were in. It looks like it used to be a Ryans or Shoneys from the outside. The inside is nothing short of a regular korean bbq restaurant. We ordered a mix combo and KFC. There was so many banchan options. My fave is the steamed egg and soup. The KFC was very crispy and the sauce was so good. We had a ton of meat for 2 people. They offered to cook for us but we enjoy cooking ourselves. Afterwards and ended up taking food home because there was so much. We really enjoyed our experience and the wait staff were friendly and attentive to cleaning and serving. read more

I walked in last night 3/15/2023 for quick dinner myself. Sliced cucumber and bean sprout in spicy sourced as free sides so fresh and tasty. The order was excellent, the service was timely and polite, and the place was roomy, super clean in floor with coffee smelled plaster wall..I heard that the owner had renovated the place himself over a year.. Their traditional appetizers and dishes are excellent, the service is friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is perfect. There's also plenty of parking and it's really easy to get to. Thought we were coming into a Korean bbq restaurant but there was Japanese udon and Vietnamese pho on the menu as well! Surprisingly the Pho was the winner of the night. I was getting hangry on my way to Decatur, GA - did search for nearby Korean -- kinda my test to see what an area is like -- if you have good Korean food -- you are in a good place. Usually fresh veg and meats with some nice spice. Not really the kinda of place you would expect, but Lavaonia pops up with Jab-Sa -- I was locked in, only a couple exits. Ordered the Beef Bulgogi Dupbob -- kinda a "lunch portion" of beef bulgogi with rice and bean sprout and cabbage salad. Got soup and all the Banchan sides along with it - kimchi, fish cake, cukes, etc. Oh my, I could just eat extended portions of these.. I had two order of kimchi, refills are free. You can tell the spices are bit "dumbed down" for the local "round eye" -- I get it, but hit the spot all the same. Would love to come for supper some time -- looks like you can grill at table. Our family was looking for a filling meal, and we happened to come across Jab-Sa. We ordered the marinated beef belly and shrimp, beef ribs soup, and soy garlic chicken. My favorite was the soy garlic chicken, which was flavorful, crunchy, and juicy. The beef belly was well-marinated and very savory. The beef ribs soup was tender and tasted very homey. They also have a plethora of banchan/side dishes to choose from, and they are unlimited. We came an hour before closing, so the place wasn't packed but we liked that the waitress helped and didn't rush us. She was also very thorough in explaining the menu. We really enjoyed our meal, and it was a fun experience grilling your own meat. Definitely worth a try! read more

Had the opportunity to stop here again.I just have to double down on my original review. They seem to have trimmed down the original menu eliminated the pictures. I again got bibimbap but I think it's now labeled dupbap. I'm not sure what either translates to in English, but it seemed to be the same dish and our server, Jonah confirmed it. Wife got bulgogi nachos. Both dishes were absolutely spot on as was the service. They still seem to be fine tuning the menu in the operation in general . We both agreed this place would be worth an occasional trip from Athens just to eat dinner! read more

Plenty of food, prices are high for the area. This is not your normal Lavonia Ga cuisine or dinning experience. Business is soft opening, understaffed, long wait, staff needs a lot more training, lack of knowledge of anything on the menu. If your a food allergen conscious person avoid here until they get everything sorted out. As one, the menu states all over it, ask and advisor your waiter, don't waste your time they don't know. The wife eats alot of Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese foods, she doesn't seem the least bit impressed. In our pictures you'll find protein wise the pork belly and prime rib. Anyways good luck! Hopefully they'll improve and find a home here, but not likely in my opinion. Mom and I just tried this place and we loved it! The food is really delicious. Our waiter was Trenton (I think) and they actually took the time to explain everything. They also gave some really good recommendations about food and drink choices. The yogurt soju and the steamed eggs were really big highlights for me but the meats are top tier. Service was a little slow, but they have signs letting you know that they are still in the process of training staff. So considering that , service was fine. Trenton was a terrific waiter.
