Sadly this Jack Allen's food standards aren't as good as the Cedar Park. I am not going to go into a tons of details but I can say my fav dish with chicken and blue crab has gone down hill since I 1st tried it a few years ago and every time I order it I ask why I did mainly from the Cedar Park. In this case the chicken was about as tough as it could be before calling it jerky and the biggest biggest issue was the after taste from the potato pancake side. My co part had the same dish she said she would try it this time since we forgot about happy hour and lets just say she wasn't happy, I wasn't to see if her plate had the same nasty after taste mine had and sure enough it was the potato pancake side. I told the server who told the manager and she checked with the kitchen only to tell us they had swapped out the thing they scoop it out of already and she thinks we got the bottom of the bin.. So we paid for a meal that was poorly made using the the what's left in the holding pans int he kitchen .... Nice cooks should be ashamed and maybe need to try a spoonful of the food more often to see what they are serving. I expected a tad bit higher standard from the place and I know it was early, or before 5 PM but don't serve it if it's old and clearly from most of the items we ate they have been sitting around, sample chip was like a rock, the chip and salsa, the chips was kinda hard the main meal tough and old, the only thing that saved it was the sauce, but I wonder what made my tum ache an our later... Yet another great stop on my quest for the greatest catfish from California to Texas, and the competition is tough. It's a terrible job, but somebody's got to do it. We went because we had a gift card and we're so glad we did! The service was fast and attentive, but not rushed at all. The ambience is upscale, clean, open and modern. I almost didn't want the table with wooden chairs, but they had cushions! One of my requirements at my age. The lighting was perfect for dining and visiting with family. Note: not great for photos, just trust me, it's much better than it looks! I didn't want to use a flash in this lovely restaurant. As soon as we were seated, we were presented with their complimentary creamy and flavorful pimento cheese taster/appetizer. Yum! The special was surf and turf, NY strip, creamy alfredo, poached lobster, al dente fettuccine, worth eating every delectable bite! The burger was handmade lightly packed fine grade beef perfectly prepared. Hubby, a tough customer, said it was excellent. I had a few bites and heartily agreed. The catfish! Im a stickler for crispy light cornbread coating and "clean" catfish. This was fluffier than I had ever had. I don't know HOW they did that! Egg whites? I loved it! Yes there was cornmeal but light and fluffy! Inside the catfish was so clean and tender, you could eat it without teeth! Tartar sauce was creamy and the coleslaw was super fresh, light and crispy. We also shared their soup of the day, Creamy Broccoli Parmesan, highly recommend, top quality everything, reaching our highest expectations (even "I don't like soup" Hubby!) I didn't get to taste what everyone else tried from Jack Allen's diverse menu, but they were all happy. We hope to be back someday. read more

Family in town for a visit and I took them here for lunch. Our server, Luke, deserves a raise. Upon seating, he explained the history of the restaurant and their menu and culinary style without knowing a member of the party was in the restroom. Upon returning to the table with our fresh water and lemon, he seamlessly went into his initial spill with the same energy and courtesy. He remembered only one person didn't want water in their glass which was a big deal for that person. He explained EVERY dish to our party seven, and even gave a top five dishes he would recommend. Good service was truly top tier. That being said, the food was delicious!!! And we're definitely going to be repeat customers but his customer service was awesome read more

Food was excellent. Had the eggs Benedict Barbacoa. Fried green tomato underneath it was excellent. Brought my family from the East Coast there for brunch. They loved it. Fish tacos were excellent. Jack Allen's was a great experience here in Round Rock for my mom's birthday. Sal, our waiter, was very hospitable and made our experience memorable. He was patient and gave us all exceptional service. I ordered the Cilantro Pesto Chicken stuffed with crab with the cream sauce on the side. It was delicious! My only comment was that the veggies weren't seasoned but they were still good. My mom got a birthday blondie and absolutely loved it. We had such a great experience here and loved every moment. The restaurant has a family vibe with great service. The bathrooms are exceptionally clean (although the air freshener is very strong). Loved my experience here overall. read more

An amazing steak salad with fresh ingredients and tender steak cooked to perfection. The service was great as always. My colleague had the ruby trout salad and it was delicious. I ordered the horseradish crusted salmon dish the other evening when I was there. I don't know if there was something wrong with the sauce (white wine lemon butter, plus balsamic glaze) or if my taste buds just didn't agree but I was completely turned off by the dish, as all components were in said sauce. The waiter was very apologetic and offered to take it off my check and offered me another dish. I declined as it really left a bad taste in my mouth. A manager came over to the table, asks what I didn't like about the dish and I told him what I said above. He was also apologetic and even offered to have the dish remade, without the sauce(s) and boxed up to go. I agreed to that and took the meal home. Once I ate the remade dish - it was delicious! So sad to write this. I've had meals at this location 200 plus times over the last 2 years. We live 1/2 mile away. Usually is fantastic food and service. Me and my family rely on the fantastic consistency. The last few trips to Jack Allen's has been subpar. Today's brunch service may be the final straw. Burnt eggs, horrific fish tacos, and 13 spiced chicken pasta that was so bland it tasted like heavy cream and overcooked pasta. Our waitress said "so sorry our kitchen staff is all new." What the heck. That's not the response or the quality expected for the price. Very disappointed. I hope you get your stuff together or lots of loyal customers will find another place to eat 2-3 days a week. read more

Great food, good prices, and friendly service. We have been here a couple of times now (a couple of years apart), and it has been consistently good. This time, we had the pimento cheese for a starter. For the main, we ordered chicken fried chicken and the French toast. How many places have pimento cheese on the menu? It seems to have been made with much better ingredients than the mass-produced spread I find occasionally at the supermarket. The chicken had a light, crisp breaking, with an amazing white gravy. The French toast was very sweet but had cream cheese and blueberries to soften the sweet punch a bit. We are looking forward to eating here again. read more

We got on the wait list (hostess was very nice and had everything under control), headed to the bar and our server at a high top let us know she saw us and would be right with us. She was stellar. Had a couple appetizers and Mexican martinis. Everything was delicious. Some kind of ravioli thing and a dip (forgot to review when we actually went a month ago so I cannot remember). Got notified our table was ready and in the amount time quoted and we were seated at a table. That server was also awesome! we talked to the manager because we had to tell them how amazing everyone was. It's just the Jack Allen's way apparently. Hmmm, I know I've eaten here a few times. Perhaps I though my review of the original JAK Oak Hill sufficient? Aw heck, time to add to that Yelp review count! All important dining date too; GF's birthday with close friends who live north. One friend was a regular and the other living in Harker Heights had never dined at any location. Reservations were made in advance and part of our party was already seated when we arrived. Our server provided a stellar and particularly casual dining experience. Despite the current wait time and more diners arriving at the door in droves we weren't rushed from start to finish. I truly appreciated this!!! With libations on the way from the bar we started with the smashed guacamole. I jokingly call this the best "white boy quac" in all of Austin; yet its elevated to a level unseen in typical Tex-Mex restaurants with interior ingredients they should know about anyway! Toasted pumpkin seeds and cotija cheese with house fried chips! My signature fave Chorizo Stuffed Tenderloin, Ruby Trout, Spiced Pasta, and Wedgies salad were among entrees ordered. All smiles while we tried to get the birthday girl to pick a free dessert. The Flourless Chocolate slice and Key Lime Pie rounded out a stellar meal with friends. No problem splitting the tab either! The shrimp tostadas were delicious (I wish they gave you more or made them bigger). Guacamole was fresh. They gave us pimento cheese samples. Loved it! Its been awhile since I have been here. a few years in fact. I'd written it off since the last time I had been here was surrounded by a personal trauma (not the restaurants fault) but we came by with my 2 babies, my mom and my husband and we all ordered chicken fried steak (x2) and chicken fried chicken. I had tried it before on the buffet during my last visit but hard to judge when you know this was made in bulk and probably not kept as warm in a pile. the chicken fried chicken was phenomenal, as was red mashed potatoes and the grilled vegetables. I cleaned my plate! It was so good I came back with a visitor from out of town and she ordred it too. Phenomenal. I also tried: the peach old fashioned - a special for the day.. too sweet for me friend got some blackberry frozen marg it too was too sweet but she enjoyed it.
