Overall the experience was good. Our server, Liam did a great job keeping up with refills and our questions as we had them. He was good at keeping an eye on our needs. It was not too busy at around 6pm on a Sunday which was nice. We spent our Peg Points at the gift shop and found a few small things to take home from our experience. We shall be returning again, unfortunately the only one close to us is about 40 mins away so it's not a regular stop, but when we go it's nice.

I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years and had breakfast today. What a pleasant surprise! In the past I've had some very mediocre experiences, but I'm happy to report that our breakfast meals were excellent, the server was excellent, and checking in online made getting a Sunday morning table easy. I'm glad they didn't modernize the interior of this restaurant. It's still got the old American whimsy we all grew up with at Cracker Barrel. I will definitely be back!

I have not been to Cracker Barrel in over a year. So decided to go and glad I did. So delicious and new food changes. Liz our server was wonderful and so attentive even with a packed place. Went during breakfast it was packed and felt like a family reunion eating breakfast. The food was so good a wonderful experience.

Being on a Sunday probably made it super crowded and very busy. It was loud and very cold inside. A lot of families with children but that's probably expected since it was a Sunday morning, we arrived around 9 Am and around 10:00 Am the people were outside lined up to come in, the parking lot was super crowded, that they even took the spaces that were just for the buses. Food was good, you had to eat fast because of the cold air blowing, made your food get cooler real fast. Next time we are in Round Rock, we will go on a weekday to see if there's a difference

Service was good - rainbow trout and seasoned rice (2) - they ran out of rice! Replaced it with steak fries and fried apples. A bit of a wait for the rice - which they could not make in a reasonable time.

Was a pretty slow night for a change which we thought would be nice. We were first taken a back with 2 small paper menus. We asked for the normal menus and were told they don't do those anymore. I questioned again about the nice, food out menus with a million wonderful options and was rudely told " I said we ain't got those!" So we ordered our meals and they were half the size of normal portions. My husband questioned our meals and were told they were the early bird meals. We advised we did not order off the early bird. He walked away. Our waitress came back and I asked why we got early bird meals and she "assumed that what we wanted because of our age". No words after this. The meal was so so, like all of it had been sitting out. We told the cashier on the way out after she asked how everything was and her reply was "ok" Won't be back!

Every seven years or so I get the urge to drive to the suburbs and sit down with the Republicans for a big ole pile of food. I'm willing to fight my way through the Kitschy gift store, then dive into the mayhem of Sunday afternoon at Cracker Barrel. And I'm lucky enough to have a friend who's willing to join me for the excursion. It was crowded. It was loud. Our waitress was nice but frazzled and overworked. She apologized for the temporary lack of cornbread, but she brought us a basket full of biscuits so we did not complain. Portions are huge, prices moderate, which is a nice change from a lot of places in Austin. My friend scarfed down all of her grits and most of her chicken dumplings, but packed up her loaded hash brown casserole to take home. I couldn't resist those biscuits and my coleslaw was very tasty, as were the mashed potatoes and gravy. I blame those biscuits for the fact that I couldn't get halfway through my four decent-sized pieces of fried chicken. The chicken was not super hot, right out of the fryer, but good fried chicken can survive that and mine survived nicely--especially since four pieces of bone-in chicken is a very generous portion. As much as we enjoyed the food, it was a relief to get out of there, since it was really loud and hectic. We both took home enough leftovers for a good start on dinner. Life is unpredictable and it may be another seven years before I get the urge to hit Cracker Barrel again. But maybe not!

Another location different state. Food was mediocre and on par with the chain expectations. Our server was great and so sweet. I ordered mama's breakfast with French toast, grits and fried pickles. Only really delicious thi g was the fried pickles and sugarplum tea. It was super busy as usual but hey.

Cracker Barrel is usually a reliable choice, offering consistent quality. The food is generally good, and the interior is clean. However, the service at this particular location can occasionally fall short.

I have eaten in both the College Station and the Bryan version. I totally disliked both of them. * * * I am pleased to say the Round Rock Cotton Patch cafe is better than either of its Aggieland cousins. The Round Rock Cotton Patch is CLEAN. That is frequently not the case in Bryan or College Station. My food was not great. I had a brisket queso. The dish was not well designed. The brisket was lovely - but it all stuck together in one piece. The chips were conspicuously too thin for even for salsa. I couldn't pick up my queso with my cheap superthin chips. Not being able to pick up one's food defeats the purpose of providing chips in the first place. Not that I was missing any kind of big treat. The queso itself didn't taste like much. I didn't die but what I had wasn't great. * Entertainment value was low as well. On TV, two out of the three channels were Cotton Patch's own advertising-itself TV, The landscapes were all standard Texas Highway Department "Texas-Is-a-Lovely-Place-To-Visit-Right-Now". The show didn't make me want to visit any of those places. The frequent ads for Cotton Patch did not make me want to go out and buy Six Cotton Page Gift Certificate cards. I love my friends and family. I know some of the best people in the world. They have not done anything bad enough in this life to justify them being punished with gift certificates from Cotton Patch.

I think Chicken Fried Steak is one of the best defining dishes of Southern cuisine. I think Chicken…read moreFried Steak is an item that has kept the people of the Southern United States together regardless of interests, jobs, intelligence, and opinions. It is a unifying meal of blue-collared and white-collared people alike. It is a food that unifies the vast cultures of the south. There is no debate when there is a Chicken Fried Steak. Soul food and southern food are so severely important to people who were raised in the south because the overall feeling of those cuisines is that it feels like their Grandma is cooking dinner. Now if you look at my Yelp profile picture for a fraction of a second and maybe stereotype a little, you can accurately assume that my Grandma's cooking would fit in the latter and you would maybe wonder if my grandmother knows what seasoning is. If you have had her chili, you would say no. The famous Texan Cafe & Pie Shop in Hutto is a classic Southern diner that is always a perfect pick-me-up meal and is a truest staple of the area. When I first visited Hutto before moving I looked for places to try, and the abundant and sheer quantity of reviews for Texan Cafe made it clear that I had to try it. That was just over a year ago, and I still remember parking my car in the lot across the street and walking into the cozy diner with wood chairs and booths, red tablecloths, and so much decor on the walls it might be a museum, and I felt right about moving to Hutto. I was seated immediately and almost instantly ordered the Chicken Fried Steak smothered with white gravy, of course, with sides of Fried Okra and Mashed Potatoes. It was not long before the beautiful plate hit my table, and I destroyed everything on that plate. When I thought it was over, I was handed the dessert menu that was two full rows worth of pie and other options. I was mesmerized by the length of it and was overwhelmed by the options. I texted my parents to tell them and suddenly I was going back to San Antonio with slices on slices worth of pie for them to have. When my parents came up to help move me in, they wanted to go to the Texan. They were impressed with how great the meal was alongside the pies. Pies that they bought extra of to take back with them to San Antonio. When I started my job, the first meal they took us new hires to was the Texan. I tried their Blue Plate Special and found out that Chicken Fried Pork Chops exist and fell in love with that. When my brother came and visited meeting my parents and me in Hutto, we went to the Texan. We enjoyed their appetizers and everyone had to have a slice of pie. Options for everyone. When a friend came and visited, she took a solo trip to the Texan while I was at work then told me she took the best nap of her life after. My buddy and I decided to go randomly one day after work to try their Hot Pie with Brandy Sauce. That thing is a tank and is worth a visit to try alone. What a sweet creation. When my girlfriend visited me in Hutto, I took her to the Texan and she will randomly text me about how much she misses the pie. I try to get her a slice every time she comes and visits. It is her favorite thing. It is clear to see why it is a favorite to so many because everyone I have taken to the Texan has left a fan wanting to come back. I brought my grandparents home a full Blueberry pie from the Texan Cafe which my grandma told me "was the best I have even since I was a little girl. Not too sweet with a great crust. Just right. A blueberry pie is my favorite." I know this review is less of a review and more of a collection of vignettes of many stories built inside the walls of the Texan Cafe, but that is what is so beautiful about southern hospitality and southern diners. That is why there is so much decor about the extensive history of Texan Cafe and the culture of Hutto on the walls. I went back this afternoon for the first time in a short while, but I find myself continuously impressed by the quality of the food, the efficiency as a whole, and just how welcoming everyone is inside. Their pies are just truly next level. Today, I went for the Chicken Fried Pork Chop Blue Plate Special which is truly heaven sent, potato salad, fried okra, and a slice of their cherry pie. It is a meal you feel blessed to eat and a restaurant you love supporting because of it. Every pie I have had at the Texan is better than any other pie I have eaten. They could be a full time bakery and still be the monument of Hutto. It just happens they have food that warms your heart too. RIYL: Grandma's cooking if it was not dry
