Always a favorite of ours, prices seem to be a bit higher this time around though. Make sure to ask for seating on the left side, we have eaten on both and they feel like different worlds lol.

The majority of our food was good. My friend and I both got shredded hashbrowns and they were undercooked and tasted raw. But her veggie omelette and my breakfast sandwich were very tasty. The Fresh Squeezed OJ was amazing. Our server was very kind and was able to answer a couple questions we had. The vibe was very nice and especially being so close to campus. I would come back.

This was my first time at Jack & Benny's. I loved the food and service! I will return and highly recommend. I went with my daughter and her boyfriend. The hardest part of my experience was trying to decide from all of the appetizing menu choices. I settled on the Gut Buster. You will not be disappointed. I ordered my eggs scrambled. The delicious gravy held it all together: eggs, sausage, cheese, ham, hash browns, and a potato pancake - feels like I'm missing something. Yeah, it comes with two pieces of toast, too. When you arrive you write your name down on the list. The owner/manager was very nice. She was attentive and kept our coffee mugs full. Our food came out quickly, this was on a Sunday afternoon around 12:30 PM. The wait was not long at all, maybe 10 minutes. Parking is on the street. I found some spots along Hudson. They've been in business for 25 years. I have lived in Columbus for 30 years, and somehow it took me this long to find them. Go today!

I absolutely love it here. The staff is always so friendly and the building itself is incredibly homey. I always make sure to ask if there are specials with the pancakes because they are superb. along with pancakes, I always enjoy an omelette with crispy has browns. This is the place to go when you are craving an all American breakfast, it will definitely hit the spot every time. This is my go to hangover spot and it never fails to satisfy me and send me straight into a food coma.

Jack in Benny's is one of the original iconic breakfast restaurants in Columbus. It is a step back in time. Great food at reasonable prices and you can sit at the bar and watch the cook make your food on a huge griddle. Pancakes are amazing, breakfast burritos are humongous and there are so many more wonderful things! If you haven't tried it yet, it should absolutely be on your list this winter. It closes at 3 PM so make sure you go early.

The food is not outstanding, but great diner to go to if you're in the campus area and want some good breakfast food.

I may not get breakfast burritos that much, but that was the best breakfast burrito I've had. The peppers, onion and sausage were chopped pretty small and the burrito was packed! So packed that the food kept falling out of the burrito. I will for sure be back soon to try their pancakes I've heard about.

We came in from out of town visiting Ohio University and we were looking for a neighborhood diner. We found this place on yelp and the pictures look good so we decided to try it. Worst mistake ever. Starting out everything was fine. Seemed like a place that locals gathered & the atmosphere gave a mom & pop type diner. We felt comfortable & pleased. The waitress greeted us & started taking our order but it got very confusing because her English was not good & she read back things we didn't say & we had to keep correcting her. Needless to say our order came out messed up we didn't get some things and other things were not prepared the way we asked & the food was simply not good & cold. The corn beef hash was grainy & greasy, the eggs were supposed to be medium but fried hard and rubbery. The hash browns were burned, but we did not complain about the food at the time, the waitress, however, was upset when we told her about our order being messed up and had an attitude & literally ignored our table after she brought the food. When we finally got her attention, she was dismissive and turning her back on on us as we try to ask for certain things like extra butter, extra cream, etc. we also ordered the orange juice which was in a very small which looked like a child size plastic cup (maybe 3 ounces) not enough for an adult. We drank it and asked for a refill which she gave us after we literally had to find her and get her attention. It was when we asked for the second refill that she informed us there are no refills. It would be $3.99 per drink. We were taken aback, wondering why she didn't tell us this after the first refill. We decided we had enough of the bad service so we asked for the check. She brought over a written paper which she had scribbled our order on wit handwritten prices all over the place and the bill was way overpriced. We asked her for a legible bill which itemized what we ordered. And she got upset, raised her voice and told us this is how they write their receipts. Another person that worked there with purple hair came over arguing beside her creating a scene. So then there's this big scene where I am telling the waitress we need a receipt that we can understand and there are things she charged us for but never brought to us. So there is now chaos as the cooks jump in & start arguing with us as we complained about the awful food. We just ended up paying the bill but I told the waitress/manager/coworkers no tip. We still paid for the food out of courtesy, even though it was terrible, but in no way, were we going to pay that rude waitress along all with all the coworkers ganging up on us customers as the manager stood watched & giggled. I will never ever go to this place again, nor would I advise anyone else to go. They have no respect, bad service, terrible food & they overcharge and do not value their customers. I wouldn't take my dog here to eat ever again. Forced to leave 1 star but they don't even deserve that.

Little bit of a wait, but worth it. This place feels old and loved, which is great. You can tell it's always busy, and the food proved why. I loved my pumpkin spice pancakes, bacon and eggs. The coffee was good too, and I'm kind of a coffee snob. Feels like a mom and pop place, and I loved some of the original furnishings. I wish we had one of these in Cincinnati.

I have been in here a few times over the years and it is the classic diner vibe. A friend was visiting and they wanted the diner feel so it was a great fit. We were seated right away, they do have fresh squeezed oj which we did not have but looked tasty! I had the "fresh" corn beef hash which was standard diner corned beef. The others had breakfast burritos and they were all right. Food was decent but wasn't too thrilled about the price.

We started with a Hot Apple Cider, topped with maple-infused whipped cream and cinnamon, along with a couple of hot coffees. The cider was warm, comforting, and full of cozy fall flavors. Unfortunately, the self-serve coffee station wasn't kept stocked, and after waiting quite a while for a refill, we eventually gave up. For breakfast, we ordered two Mushroom Frittatas, a Fresh Buttermilk Biscuit, and a side of Housemade Breakfast Sausage. The Mushroom Frittata featured three hearth-baked eggs with roasted mushrooms, sweet onions, and Gruyère cheese, served alongside breakfast potatoes and a peppery arugula salad. It was flavorful, hearty, and incredibly satisfying. Although I informed the staff about my peanut allergy, I was surprised to find the crispy breakfast potatoes on my plate, which left me uncertain whether the allergy request had been fully communicated to the kitchen. The Fresh Buttermilk Biscuit, served with strawberry preserves, was one of the highlights of the meal. It was flaky, buttery, and wonderfully moist, pairing perfectly with the sweet preserves. The Housemade Breakfast Sausage consisted of two peppery pork patties that were juicy and well-seasoned, making a great accompaniment to the rest of the meal. Overall, we enjoyed a delicious and filling breakfast with fresh, high-quality ingredients. While I wish the coffee station had been monitored more closely and that greater care had been taken regarding my food allergy, the Mushroom Frittata and fresh biscuit alone make Northstar Café worth returning to.
