I purchased a teriyaki chic bowl today. I was informed that the sauce was discontinued so could not get them. I asked if they could add extra sauce to the bowl. I was told no. I said I would pay for it. I was willing to give $5 cash for extra sauce. I was told they could not sell extra sauce. I offered more than that meal cost. I will be going to Santa Cruz location. This Jack-in-the-Box is very hit and miss. Sometimes we go, and it's great. Others, it's horrible. Very inconsistent food service when you go through the Drive-Thru. We don't indulge in fast food, super often... But we treat ourselves 2 to 3 times a month. This evening I stopped by there on the way home and ordered two double jacks, and an order of tacos. I get home, and there was two regular jumbo jacks with no cheese, no condiments on the burger, lettuce was not very fresh, the tomatoes had the hard end on them, the beef patties were cold and broken up, and they were smashed flat. Like someone hit it with a book. Tacos were also cold. And the problem is... They don't give you a receipt, so you can't even go back and dispute anything. So we paid for two double Jack's... And only got two regular jacks with no cheese. Just disappointing. Now, we've had some fantastic, hot burgers where the produce was fresh, and the cheese was perfectly melted, and the bun was really soft and fresh. Onion rings were crispy and hot... but the fries are usually Luke warm to cold. (That's pretty consistent) This is not the first time this has happened to us. It's happened several times over the last year. I own part of it, as I should've checked the bag before I pulled away. But I was in a hurry, there were napkins and tons of ketchup thrown on top and it was hard to see all the way into the bottom of the bag. And I didn't want to be THAT person holding up the line. I decided to finally write a review tonight as it was just the final straw. We were so looking forward to the burgers as we were both tired and didn't want to cook... and they were horrible. I am a regular at this Jack in the Box in Scotts Valley, and I've come to understand that this location is severely understaffed, which explains the long wait times. I do not blame the employees for this, as they always try their best under difficult circumstances. Today, July 15th at around 4:30 pm, I went inside to order my meal and was attended by a very nice lady wearing a red shirt and a ponytail. She remained polite and professional despite only two employees working and a long line of orders. I was not in a hurry and was willing to wait. However, what I witnessed next was unacceptable. While the two employees were busy packing up drive-thru orders, a lady in a grey shirt, who I assume is part of the management team, started berating the nice employee who attended to me. She pulled her aside and spoke to her harshly in front of all the customers, leaving the employee visibly upset and on the verge of tears. Correcting every minimal detail while seeing that the other employee was left alone to pack and make food. This behavior is unprofessional and demoralizing. Management should be supporting their staff, especially when they are understaffed and overwhelmed. Instead of helping with the workload, this manager chose to make an already stressful situation worse. As a customer, I felt very uncomfortable witnessing this because it was unprofessional and demoralizing. Although I love coming to this Jack in the Box, I will not be supporting such an unprofessional business that doesn't respect its employees. The hardworking employees deserve better treatment and support. I hope management will take this feedback seriously and create a more supportive and respectful work environment for their team. This Jack in the Box charges more for their menu items than the stated price on the drive through menu board. In a recent trip through, they charged me $1.50 more for a menu item, even though I had not done any substitutions, or changed my order to a larger size. This can't possibly be legal. I asked person working the drive through window for a receipt, questioned him about the price difference, and he told me that his manager was the one who decides when they'll boost prices, and that he knows nothing about what the drive through menu states regarding prices. read more

Took forever for service. Backed out of the drive thru to go inside since no one was being helped at the speaker. Didnt get acknowledged for about 5 minutes of just standing there. By the time we got our food the burgers were cold. I asked for fresh since i had been waiting. The manager offered to put them in the microwave to heat them up. I insisted on new and she went and starting spanish to her coworker. Made us new burgers with extremely cold patties that had been sitting there. The burgers that i handed back she opened up and look at them and closed them up and moved them like she was going to reuse them. I had put my hands inside the burgers to check the temps. I've lived a block from this Jack since it was built, been there many, many times. Drive-thru almost exclusively. The Food: It's Jack In The Box. The food's hot, the drinks are cold. All fine there. The Staff: Something changed here. They simply cannot get a drive-thru order correct anymore. In the drive-thru, they regularly start rushing you through your order with the "anything elses" before anything comes up on the screen. And then what's on the screen is wrong. You go through correcting it, and then when you get your order, it's wrong anyway. Want your Tiny Tacos Un-loaded? They've got you. Want your sugar-free drink sugared? They can help you with that. Over and over again. It honestly feels like there's unfortunately a language barrier I didn't experience with previous staff like my homie that looked like the Hawaiian ukulele dude... that guy was great, nailed my order EVERY SINGLE TIME. I've been showing up at this Jack In The Box at pretty odd hours because I'm not very close and Jack's is one of my guilty pleasures. So when I show up it's usually short staffed because it's early hours of the morning. I have always had excellent service and the food is great Jack's food. I really love "The Cluck" and the "Homestyle Chicken Ranch Club". If you eat burgers, you're on your own, as that's been uncharted territory for me for decades. Often I get just the 3 egg rolls a la cart because they are cooked so crispy perfect. The shakes are great, they have strawberry & vanilla Dr Pepper. What's not to like? I see that often they are using the slower hours to train newbies. So the service is maybe a tad slow because they're learning and they want to get it right. Hey, I just take those extra few moments to reflect on how, once, back in the past, I was a beginner too. And an encouraging word or smile meant so much. I very rarely eat fast food but last night I had "the munchies" and this place is on my way home so I stopped in. The food was pretty tasty and reasonably priced as you might expect from a fast food place but what really impressed me was they saw my dog Tootsie sticking her head out the window and one of the workers came up and gave her a dog biscuit.
