In response to owner reply: I'm not going to get into the corporate procedure and hoops and all the fuss and frustration that comes with dealing with anything corporate. Besides, this isn't about Jack in the Box as a whole, in a well run location the food is actually pretty decent. Don't really need "internal" escalation. For example (just one), I'm sure Jack in the Box has procedures on when to change the fry oil, if it's not getting done at this location it's a management issue for you to take care of - you don't need permission from Jack in the Box. If you want to ensure that the product served is quality, just do some basic quality assurance - do some mystery shopping, do some surprise drop ins, and they need to be done multiple times as to not just catch them on a good day and think nothing is wrong. If it's bad, you need to train and motivate managers, if it's still bad after that you need to replace them. And when you do find workers that do a good job, you need to pay them well and treat them well. There are lots of resources out there on how to run a restaurant well on the internet and I'm sure corporate has resources but it all hinges on genuine caring. If caring isn't involved, it's all downhill from there. read more

So sad. Ordered a sourdough chicken club with no bacon and no Mayo. Took them a long time to make at drive thru. Even had "Drive Thru Custom" sticker on box. Well I don't know what was custom because it had bacon and Mayo on it. The chicken is about a third the size of the bread. Worst sandwich ever. read more

My God, this place is a laughing stock. I rarely go to fast food places, but a friend of mine that I was hanging out with for the evening said we should drop by there for a burger and some fries. I thought, sure, why not? Nice little treat and something different from what I usually have. It took 15 minutes to get the food via drive through, AND they messed up the order. They had us pull into the parking lot to wait, as they did with other cars. It was really disorganized and pitiful. When I noted to the "runner" as he called himself, that they brought the wrong items, he said I'd need to go inside to fix it. I told him no thanks, and I accepted what I got. What a waste of time and money. Why couldn't this have been an In 'n' Out??? At least they treat you right and have GREAT food, even if it is fast food! read more

This place is killing it as far as fast food goes. Came in around 2 AM, and received perfect food. If you try that with Domino's they're likely to deliver you a cold, burnt, upside-down pizza (true story), but here I got a hot, not soggy, burger and fries. We were a party of 8 and probably brought in $70 or $80 for this location. The service was very slow. The restaurant, though very clean and may have been freshly remodeled, was cold. Bathroom was tidy. One of my friends used the restroom towards the end of our visit and was followed by the male employee on duty. This employee approached my friend while he was using the urinal and asked that he please tell his noisy friend to quiet down and that he was receiving complaints from other customers. (there was only one other set of customers in the dining room and after they received their food, they never moved from their spot.) As we were a larger group, we were admittedly noisy and would have responded respectfully if we had been made aware that we were causing a problem. However, approaching my poor friend while his junk was in his hand peeing was extremely awkward and inappropriate. And of course, they messed his order up twice. Jack in the Box, Scotts Valley, may have scarred him for life. Another friend of mine did approach this same employee and apologize for the noise afterwards to which that employee responded that we had been no problem at all. Probably won't be visiting this place again unless I'm looking for a bathroom buddy. read more

Food is cold literally every time i buy from this location. I think the food is old/stale.

Quality food, but do not go here if you are in a hurry. Went in today and it took over 40 minutes to get a burger and fries. I had to complain in order to have my food made, which was frustrating. Its partially because all of the staffing there right now is brand new and still being trained, but there isn't a sense of urgency among them. One great thing is that its open 24 hours (probably the only business in Scotts Valley that is). So if you are hungry and its late, Jack in the Box is the place to go. Definitely worth going to and I am going to continue to eat here, but if you are an impatient patron, this is not the place to be if there are more than just you trying to get a quick meal. This location sucks! I was visiting a family member in Scotts Valley and decided to order on their app and pick up at the drive-through. After picking up my food and driving all the way back to Capitola I realize that they didn't put one of my main items in the bag and every time I tried to call them their phone is busy. I'm not driving all the way back up there and spending double the gas for a five dollar item. Also, the girl at the window had her mask pulled down under her nose. Will never go back! read more

I've been here 3 times and here's another quick review of mine: Food = 2/5. The burgers and fries were lukewarm when they gave them to me. Service = 4/5 The employees were enthusiastic and got my order right all 3 times. Atmosphere = 5/5 Very modern and clean all 3 times I went there. Bathroom = 4/5 They do keep an eye on the bathrooms and make sure it is clean. Drive-Thru = N/A because I never used it. Three stars because the food matters most. If they can master that then I will be going there more often. read more

OK everybody knows that when you prepare food can't hanging down in the food. I can't believe the FDA has not done something about this. This guy was making my sandwiches and his hair was hanging down just inches from my sandwiches. I'm going to highly consider if I'm gonna come back here again. After waiting 31 minutes in the drive thru, I ended up paying for items I did not receive after explicitly asking the employee if everything was in the bag he handed me, twice. Despite his assurances, the order was incomplete, I paid for food I didn't receive, after waiting an absurdly long time. I have been in retail service, and I'm usually very forgiving and polite, and I maintained that attitude outwardly. However the employees did not appear to be working with even moderate haste, despite a long line of upset customers. read more

I got in and out at 2pm on a Saturday, so they were far from busy -- bonus all around. My slightly off-center order came out correctly and quick, and the restaurant and restrooms were tidy (at least as tidy as I've come to expect for such places, so no complaints here.) 7/16 7:24am ...The food is ok BUT always seem to get the order wrong -- ask for Jumbo Jack w/cheese no onions -- GOT onions. Ask for a original plain large ice coffee - it was mocha. WOW this trip was like a scene out of the movie 'jackass'. We pulled up to the window and paid for two seperate orders (driver and passenger). While we waited for the order could hear the drive through worker and front end working to bag our orders then hear "toss it in the bag". My ears perked up and thought "nooo they wouldnt say something that stupid infront of customers". So we left and when I looked in my bag the french fries were upside down!! I just stared at the bag and tried to think if it was the drive back or some realistic reason how they ended up TOTALLY upside down. Not tilted... not bounced but the bottom of the container was facing the top of the bag! Even worse I had noo napkins... and thats not the first time this place did that to me! I mean I'm all for saving tree's but please... give me one napkin or put a sign out saying 'optional ask or you wont get one'. I came here placed a quick order in the drive thru. After paying I was told they were out of the drink I wanted. Ok it happens so I asked for something else. They come back to the window and tell me I need to come inside for my order . The whole point of the drive thru is so that you don't have to come inside. Asking someone to pull to the side and they will bring out is one thing but to tell someone to come in for their order is completely unprofessional. Then I park get out and go inside, and wait for anyone to even acknowledge me. Stood at the counter for over 10 minutes waiting for an order that should have been given to me in the drive thru. It all started when i walked up to the store to find an employee smoking a joint outside the door. Very kind, opened door for me, but really bro? Doobage on the job? Then I got my Siracha burger. Had lunch there today 11/30. Was the worst. All their condiment containers were empty. Opened ranch container, & it was even ranch. Had to figure out where to sit cause every table was dirty. Went to use restroom & there was sh** all over the 1st toilet. Told an employee & she said yeah ok. Why wasn't that placed clean? When we walked in no one was there & they were just standing around. Not sure how hard it is to actually listen when someone is giving their order. I said "no ice" in my coffee 4 times....stood there and watched them out ice in the cup and had to tell them again, no ice. Then when we got our breakfast my mini pancakes where so hard they literally cracked in half when I tried to rip them. They also gave us a burrito when we ordered a breakfast sandwich. When I asked for a refund on the not edible pancakes they argued but eventually gave it to me. They're excuse was it was the cashier's first day...that doesn't excuse her not listening to our order and was she the one also cooking the food? Did she mess up and overcook the pancakes? I am comparing this place to the closest one, which is in Santa Cruz, and the difference in tremendous. They do kind of care about their food here, as opposed to Santa Cruz, where they do give two fucks. The service is better and faster, contrasting to Santa Cruz...they don't give two fucks. It takes me almost 15 minutes just to get a simple iced coffee. Every worker I have encountered here has been kind, friendly and apologetic despite how stressed they seem to be. We went there right after the place opened and that was probably a mistake. The drive thru line was horribly, horribly slow. I was thinking all those people who complain about another fast food place in Scotts Valley haven't been here. It's not fast. We finally did get our order, a Sourdough Jack and a Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger, and set off for home to eat. When we opened our bag we found the Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger didn't have any bacon and the Sourdough Jack was on un-toasted bread vs. toasted sourdough. Not HUGE discrepancies, but we were looking forward to what we ordered, not to what they gave us. We looked in the bag for the receipt with hopes of being able to find the restaurant ID number so we could provide feedback to them. No receipt either. File this in the category of we should have known better. A brand new restaurant and brand new staff. It seems they should have taken some time to train ahead of time instead of on-the-job-training. I gave this place three different tries with my kids. No matter how much I want this place to succeed, they are way too slow. Twenty minutes is not an acceptable amount of time to wait for a couple of kids meals. This place will fail unless they start hiring people who actually want the job. Stand there for about 10 minutes ... 3 guys in the back. One told the drive thru cashier to take our order ... He has the manager badge on !!! Anyhow he looked at us... And ignored our presence .
