I was an employee at O'Reillys a couple years back I use to deliver to this location. My parents had purchased a vehicle from this place, they told me that Jack Phelan claims to get all their parts original, Yea OK, maybe some but definitely NOT all. Recently my parents took their 2008 Chevy Avalanche to this place for an oil change, seems every time they go to this location they are paying extremely high prices only to have something else wrong with their vehicle. Anyhow they took their truck in on Friday the 28th of April, just for an oil change, my father went to do his usual errands and noticed the engine light come on, come to find out they didn't even put oil in the truck. It is a very huge inconvenience that they now cannot use their truck due to the lack of attention to detail in the service department. Hypothetically speaking if my parents knew nothing about this type of issue or they decided to go on a road trip of some sort their engine would have been gone. This is unacceptable. This place cannot be trusted, seems they fix one thing and my parents get their vehicle back only to go back for something else. I wouldn't recommend this dealer. read more

We scheduled an appointment and had no trouble at all with the deal and drove away with our new car in a short amount of time. No haggling at all, offered us a very fair deal the first time! I told them it was probably the battery. When I pulled in the service station a worker backed into my car. He didn't even see me behind him. The service person said they had to do a diagnostic check on my vehicle that est cost $138.00. He said if it was only my battery I was only to pay for the battery. I was under the impression that my battery was under warranty. I only had an 18month warranty. It was on 24months. I thought I was to get it prorated. But nope. I would up paying $38 for the problem to be my battery!!!! I don't see why I should have been charged for labor for them to check out only my battery!!!! This dealer charges for EVERYTHING!!!! The wait for oil changes is terrible. The service center tries to charge you for services you don't need. It took forever for my car to have the transmission rebuilt about two weeks!!! Review of service department. Had a 9:30am appointment. Car occasionally wouldn't shift out of park, then it suddenly wouldn't start. I paid to tow it there. It took them 5 hours (2:30) to "figure out what was wrong" and to tell me it would cost $650 to fix it. I agreed and got my car back at 3:30. Got it home and the service engine light came back on, 2 weeks later the car wouldn't shift out of park again and it won't start. They said tow it back in and they'll "have a look at it". So I should pay another towing fee so they can charge me to do more work on my car that didn't fix the problem the first time? No way. read more

I came in for an oil change, but also asked for battery to be checked since I was still using the original in a ten-year-old car. Also found rusted springs that needed to be replaced. While I wasn't thrilled with the big repair bill, staff was polite and helpful in answering questions as always. I don't ever feel pressured into making an unnecessary repair and they are good about helping me decide which are crucial repairs and which can wait. Since my car was going to be in the shop all day I was offered (and I accepted) a loaner car so my day wouldn't be wasted and I could run other errands. The time I spent in the waiting room was also pleasant. It's always clean, and I appreciate the donuts and coffee in the morning. read more

Took my car in for a recall and my car came out with my Stability ctrl on and would not go off. Spoke to a very unhelpful guy ( lucky for him ididntvget his name). He said he can do a diagnostics test that would cost ME $165 and then I would have to pay for repairs myself. THEY messed up my car and I have to pay. Well I called GM corporate and they are taking care of things for me and dealing with Jack Phelan's bad service and customer service. Highly NOT recommended. DO NOT GO TO JACK PHELAN. Bad service. Let me start by saying that I work in the customer service industry and if you want the exact opposite of good customer service when shopping for a vehicle then Jack Phelan Chevrolet is the place to go. Since they have acquired the cash for clunkers promotion the fluctuation in business has been drastic from no customers to a revolving door, therefore the precision customer service they may have given in the past is now nothing more than lack luster! First I was told I was not approved for cash for clunkers, my sales rep Juan told me my car was not applicable due to the fact that it was a 4 cyclider suv which in fact was wrong. Needless to say I still did not qualify because I still owed money on my trade in. After Juan bate and switched prices with me for 3 hours I settled on a 2009 Chevy Aveo. Before we left the dealership I realized that the interior lights were not working and the service manager Felipe told me that it was nothing more than a fuse. When in actuality the entire fuse box needed to be switched out. The dealership determined that I would not receive my car back for 8-14 days. Mind you the vehicle was in my possession for only 7 hours. After speaking with one of the owners J.C. Phelan, I just wanted to exchange the vehicle to avoid trading in a clunker for a clunker. After all the red tape and empty promises I walked away from Jack Phelan empty handed and quite honestly disgusted. I give Jack Phelan 2 thumbs down. read more

I brought my moms 06 malibu in for a diagnostic. That part went fine. When I went to pick it up on the other hand... There was mass confusion, there was no order to who was being helped first. So finally it was my turn, they told me all I have to do is to see the cashier. Ok great, I assumed I would go find the cashier, pay, and get my key and leave... Nope. I found the cashier, got a receipt, and was told I now had to go back out to the service dept, show them my receipt, then they will send someone for the car. Once again I waited to be helped. Finally got someone, the shouted for some guy to go get my "cobalt", I had to flag the guy down who was now running out the door and tell him it's a malibu not a cobalt. 10 minutes later I see it coming around the back of the building then stop. The service writer asked me if I wanted it washed, I said yes. (Whenever I take my truck to Westfield ford they ALWAYS wash my truck and vacuum it out. No matter what.) so I was waiting for the now cleaned car to pull into service... I waited... And waited... 35 minutes later I asked what the status was on the worlds longest car wash. The guy looked confused and didn't remember me or my car. He typed away on the computer, then checked a clip board, then walked outside and looked around the lot. He then came inside, walked up to a lockbox full of keys. He grabbed about 6 sets of keys, laid them on the counter in front of me and asked me if any of these keys looked like mine... I grabbed my keys in disgust. Walked outside and couldn't find my car. I walked back in and asked where it was, they had parked a large van in front of it. Once the van was moved I noticed they hadn't washed the tires, rims, or lower half of the car... Simply fantastic... read more

Based on this most recent service I probably would not recommend them. We own 4 chevrolet vehicles. This is my daughter's vehicle and she lives in Berwyn. Normally we service the vehicles in Naperville but her check engine light went on. They charged us almost twice as much as Naperville would have charged (I called Naperville). I would think the charges would have been consistent. Naperville also offers coupons for additional savings. I feel like they took advantage of my young daughter. read more

He said yeah just come in your pre approved no money down I asked him are you sure because I live pretty far I dont want to drive over there amd you say otherwise and yup sure enough what do you know I get there and some guy named Mike tells me let me run your credit and see what they approve you for I was like wait a minute I called over the phone and was told I was pre approved he said Im sorry but I need to run it I was so disgusted he came back to the table and said I needed $2,500 down payment I had the money in my bank account but I refused to do any type of business with fucken liars never again will I ever go into this one or any other Jack Phelan Chevrolet and as I left I told Mike that I was going to write a review everywhere and anywhere I can just due to the simple fact that I was lied to just to get me in the dearlship! I had an issue with the hazard lights coming on by them self and they implied I spilled something on the dashboard although I told them that was not the case. I paid 140 dollars for them to "fix it" and it happened again the same night two hours later. I brought it back in the next day and now they advised it was a malfunction in the memory board and hazard switch that was covered under warranty and it was fixed. I asked for my money back because it was covered under my warranty all along and they kept advising me to speak to someone else from mike to then Rich the general manager and they are avoiding me. It's been three weeks now I called again last week still no response. NEVER GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP they are unprofessional and unwilling to accept they made a mistake and return my money. Today I had the most horrible experience in my life from Jack Phelan Chevy in Lyons, Illinois(4000 Harlem). I experienced racism and sexism. The manager, , Martin Boryczka, was extremely rude and argumentative towards me. I received a letter offering to trade my vehicle in (depleted value and a total rip-off). I went in 10/21 but had to return today to complete deal. I submitted documentation, my down payment, waited for 4 hours, and took the new vehicle on a test drive. After 4 hours and completing application process, the guy who sold me the car told me that they won't accept my trade in. On 10/21, I was told that they would accept my trade in. , Martin Boryczka, argued with me and lied to me and told me that I knew but he wasn't present during the deal on 10/21. , Martin Boryczka insulted me, argued with me then called the cops to escort me off the property. No charges were filed but very humiliating and a total waste of my time. read more

I went in to get some work done and during the process they broke a clip that holds the molding together. They had the nerve to charge me for the new clip. I was there for over an hour and then I had to wait an extra 20 minutes after they finished to get my car back. I will not be going there again. This experience was very disappointing. I made an appointment for an oil change for Monday, Nov. 28th at 3:30pm. It took 2 hours for the oil change to be completed. After waiting an hour and a half, I checked in with the service department to be updated on the status of the oil change. At that point, my car was not even looked at. This is completely unacceptable time to be waiting for an oil change service considering I had a scheduled appointment. I should not have to go through this type of wait when I have a scheduled appointment. This is the second time this has occurred. There was no service department manager available to discuss my concerns at the time my oil change was completed. I would like a follow up call on this concern. My review for this experience is zero stars. When I purchased my vehicle at your location, my sales person was Bob Randazzo whom I found very helpful and made purchasing my vehicle a very pleasant experience. He also reassured us of the great service department Jack Phelan Chevrolet has. Unfortunately, this car dealership lacks the service it needs to exceed in the service department. It was great until after the purchase was made. The only reason why I have had my oil change at your location is due to the complimentary oil change that is offered through Chevrolet, otherwise, I will not continue using your service department for any mechanical or service. I have purchased at least 4 cars at Jack Phalen over the years. I was in the market for a 2016 Malibu & 2016 Impala. Even though other Chevy dealer's are closer to me, I gave Jack a shot out of loyalty & thought my history with them would help the process. The salesman (Juan) met me at the door and was very good in identifying and showing a new Malibu. We test drove the car and I was interested in buying the car & started negotiating. I had a 2007 Malibu as trade in. Kelly Blue Book & Edmund's showed a trade in value of between $4000-5000. Jack offered $1200. We were so far off that we left the showroom and were planning on going to Car Max to determine the value of the car. While leaving, a manager (who's name I did not get) said he'd Match Car Max' s quote. I got a written quote of $4500 from Car Max. I called Jack Phalen & the manager I spoke to said I should have taken the deal. He wouldn't honor his commitment. I went to Currie Motors in Forest Park and they gave me $4300 in trade in. I bought the car from them and was very happy with the process at Currie Motors. I can't stand liars and will never go back to Jack Phalen's! When I look for the Impala, it won't be at Jack Phalen's! We recently bought a car here..we loved the salesperson..we bought a Chevy Equinox LT1..the car is 14 days old today. Since the day we got it the left rear tire has been leaking air. At first we thought it was the sensor...since we have been told they are very sensitive. It turned out to be the tire..losing as much as 10 lbs of air per day!!! Took it to the service dept at Jack Phelan..(our salesman was not working) on Friday (car only 13 days old that day) and the service dept put it up on the jack and just said ..no your tire is too bad to fix..you have to replace it at the cost of $201!!!!! They did nothing!!! They only wanted us to pay for a new tire..We told them over & over it leaked from the day we got it..they didn't care... just wanted us to buy a new one. My husband took it over to a trusted guy at Firestone on LaGrange..and tada (!) tire was repaired in 5 mins!!!! DO NOT TRUST THEM..THEY ONLY WANT MONEY.. I filed a complaint with GM...We will get an answer on Monday...Now we have a year's worth of oil changes..I am afraid to even take the car there for those..since I believe they will tell us other lies and say we need to pay for something else...or worse yet they will purposely damage the car...DO NOT TRUST THEM!! read more

So I take my car in to get some work done I get it back and my windshield is cracked. I tell the guy who released my vehicle to me and he says I will have my manager give you a call tomorrow when he gets in at 7:30 am so you should receive a call around 8/8:30 am. Never got a call so I give them a call at 10:45 am and spoke with the service manager and he tells me he will give me a call back around 12:30 pm 1 pm the latest Because he has to have the guy who's in charge of the surveillance system look over the tape. No call back till 4 pm. So he tells me I can't see anything on the tape so I asked can I come see the tape and he tells me no you can't come see the tape hmmmmm sounds very incriminating to me. So he then tells me he will speak with the tech who worked on my car and give me a call back mind you this is thur and I'm supposed to hear back from him on Friday. No call fri, sat, mon, yesterday or today. I've called to speak with the GM of the dealership and his mailbox is full. I've left messages with operator for the gm to give me a call back and nothing till this point so I will be up there tomorrow morning to speak with him face to face. If you are looking to buy a car STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP THEY DONT BELIEVE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL. read more
