My husband and I went for lunch, we were pleased to find out they have lunch specials. You can get selected entrees with either a soup, salad or beverage. I got it with the soup, a cup of lobster bisque, very pretty but I didn't capture a photo. I wouldn't get the bisque with a sandwich again because although tasty, it's very creamy, very heavy and it filled me up so I couldn't enjoy my sandwich as much. Next time, I'll combo the beverage. We had a great meal here after finding long waits nearby in downtown Montclair and no waits here. They got the kids set up right away with coloring and the waiters were super attentive and quick to take our order. We shared a 2# lobster dinner (for around $40) and the crab pot ($48) which featured a lot of different foods as the name suggests. The old bay spice was good but not great for the kids. The dish features steamed half a pound Dungeness & half a pound of snow crab legs and comes with mussels, shrimp, clams, sausage, potatos and corn. It was a ton of food all together and my wife and I plus two small kids could not finish it. I didn't find the lobster or the crab entirely flavorful (not sure if it's a freshness, quality, or preparation thing) but it was still decent. We also shared a Maine Blueberry soda that was good. The ambiance was fairly laid back here too, which makes it a good family spot. Overall we had a pleasant experience here and would come back again. read more

Hello my new friend!! Thanks for satisfying my seafood urges, mostly specifically my lobster dreams, during COVID! Over the past few weeks, my family has been here to pickup their orders and would leave me some to try. I got my hands on the Maine lobster roll, lobster bisque, homemade chips, and coleslaw. Today I was lucky enough to be treated to steamers and their awesome 1.5lb lobster dinner with corn, coleslaw, butter, and lemon for $25!! Now let me back up to my taste tests. Maine lobster roll is fantastic and filled with chunks of meat. I couldn't imagine seeing the need to double up on the meat, but they do offer it. Lobster bisque is silky and tasty. I would prefer to try it with the extra meat in the future. Homemade potato chips out of this world! My hubby ordered steak frites (yes, I know- you don't order meat at a seafood shack). The 8oz filet came with fries and a nice fresh salad. However by the time we got home the steak continued to cook itself to medium well. That's my hubby fault as he was supposed to order a crab cake sandwich, but changed his mind last minute. Today my steamers were good. Unfortunately they weren't very plump and some had muddy sand still in them. No biggie for me, but I've had better. Now the 1.5lb lobster dinner is a MUST! Succulent, sweet, huge, and perfectly cooked!! They even pre-crack the shell for you! I was so happy eating this tonight and can't wait to try more items from their vast menu! For apps we had a cup of the manhattan clam chowder and lobster bisque, both excellent , we also tried the fried clam strips which were very nicely done and a dozen Ipswich clams which at $30 was a bit of a disappointment. The food was tasty enough if not terribly special. You get a lot of chips with the platter, which is nice. Went there for our 33rd anniversary - MISTAKE Started with the New England Clam Chowder - Too spicy and very little clams if any - NOT GOOD Ordered the full belly clams (Hoping they would be as good as the ones we had in New England) - THEY WERE TERRIBLE - They came to the table and were overdone ( all dried out and like rubber) - Tasted like they came from rancid or unfiltered oil - Got up during the night and had to take Pepto Bismol. Today my sisters and I went to this restaurant to celebrate my mom 80 birthday. First the waiter keeps coming to our table every few minutes to see if we were ready. We keep telling her to give my mom more time. After we order we waited 30 minutes for our simple appetizer and almost 2 hours for our main entree. So glad I didn't waste time driving far when this gem was so close. I have never had clam bellies (ops itch clams) before and I am SO glad I tried them. They were super flavorful and their tartar sauce was deltoid. I also ordered a po boy. They have different options for these, I opted for the fried oyster poy boy. This sandwich is massive. So go hungry or share with someone. I asked for the potato salad instead of the chips - YUM!!! Their coleslaw that also came with the sandwich was good. My bf had the lobster Mac and cheese. As you can see from the picture, the portion was huge. I am usually not a mac person, but this I fully enjoyed. It was so good and full of flavor. Lastly for dessert, we had the homemade mini pies which come from a little pie co in nyc. These are freaking delicious and probably one of the best pies I have ever had. We had a craving for a clam shack, we searched all over for one and most were 90 mins or more to drive. We noticed this spot snd jumped right in the car. What a great little gem! We ordered the fried clam bellies, they were so delicious. They give you a good amount as well. We ordered to share the lobster Mac and cheese and the oyster PO boy. They were both so dang good. I was really surprised as to how good the lobster Mac was. I'd come back weekly for that! Lastly we got a key lime pie. One of the best key lime pies I've ever had. We actually ordered one to go snd a berry pie as well. They apparently come from little pie co in the city. They are just incredible!! The service was top notch. I came here this past Sunday for brunch with 11 friends after a social media picture of their Lobster Benedict threw us all into a frenzy. I skimmed through their menu although I was hellbent on the Benedict. It's the same main menu as the location in Edgewater except they don't serve brunch. We shared a few different appetizers sipping our BYO bottles of champagne and wine. My plate arrived and it was a moment of glory. I was taken aback by the amount of whole claws and pieces of lobster buried under my eggs (which could have been runnier). We needed a little something sweet afterwards and again shared some desserts between us. Prices, portions, quality, taste and superb, attentive service made this a fantastic meal for all. Frugal with the lobsters!!! I decided to visit the restaurant for pickup since their photos looked promising. Visiting 30min prior to closing was the wrong move. The lady who took my order over the phone was so sweet and helpful. I ordered one Connecticut lobster roll with chips and was very disappointed with the small bits of lobster meat.... it was just the leftover meat of the day. You can see my photos and make your own judgement!bHowever it was still a yummy roll. The chips are not crispy enough, again it was close to closing time when I ordered so it won't be as fresh. This review isn't a reflection of the restaurant as a whole but this is the most disappointing $40.00 I've ever spent, anywhere! There are so many other good options but this is a one and done. On other occasions the restaurant is a solid 4.5 and I haven't ever dined in before but I felt like if someone else decides to order the lazy lobster at least you could have a choice now that you can see what exactly you are getting. I will update this review on my next visit to relect the restaurant's true value to me but I'm not sure how soon that will be since this drove me off the wall. It's fine. I was expecting a stronger experience. But service was friendly. Food came out too slowly, in spite of the restaurant not being terribly busy. I could tell they were serving a lot of take out orders but honestly not an excuse for the amount of time it took for our food. Decor is gentrified sea shack, I don't know how else to describe it. It's clean, bussed properly, though the chairs need updating as they aren't terribly comfortable for more than 30 minutes. I do want to shout out the lobster rolls. Both of them were incredible, Maine or Connecticut style. Heaps of lobster meat, toasted and buttered New England split roll... oh, yeah, this is the stuff. I'll come back specifically for these. Everything else was fairly bland and I was really underwhelmed. My partner suggested next time we call ahead for lobster rolls and eat them at the counter, as we observed another few people do. The side of corn was basic, not worth the $3. Lobster fritters were pretty sad. Maybe three of them had bits of lobster in them. The clam strips lacked much in the way of meat, and it was 90% breading. All in all, I feel 3 stars is appropriate. There are better culinary experiences in Montclair, but if you want a lobster roll, this is the best game in town. read more
