Went for a girls night out with a few friends. Wasn't 100% if they were BYOB so I called ahead. Was a nice night out. The fried calamari was cooked perfectly. I had the garlic butter and lemon lobster roll which was fantastic. I did find a piece of shell in my lobster meat however. The gelato I had for dessert was great! I went to grab a lobster roll after seeing their $19 promo on IG. I took my dog with me in hopes we could have a nice dinner outside. I haven't been back since 2023 so apparently things and ownership has changed. When I opened the door they was white tablecloths on the tables, a little trio playing music. I was in shorts and had my dog haha I felt so out of place! For one, apparently no more outdoor dining. I went and put my dog in the car and decided I'd just get to go. You have to walk through the nice dining area to get to the more casual side. The owner was there and helpful, he went through the options with me and I ended up getting the lemon garlic butter roll, clam chowder and fries. $40 total The owner started talking to me about the changes they had made, very friendly and even offered to bring a table outside for me and the pup to eat at! But it was really dark, and the restaurant is on a corner. It took me 20 mins to get home, by then the fries were room temp and soggy - what can you do. But also there was a seasoning on them I didn't like, not sure what it was. The chowder was good, good chunks of clam and potatoes The roll - tbh, I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either. I can't put my finger on what it was but I didn't love the flavor - but someone else might. I should have just gone with original tbh. The menu offers many choices, atmosphere is nice and airy, my Son liked the 70's, 80's music in the background. I had a cup of Manhattan Clam Chowder. I thank our Server, Edwin for giving me a cup, while the menu only lists a bowl. The chowder was good, but not the best I've ever had. The lobster roll was great! I got the one that comes with melted garlic butter. You can choose your size and I chose,"Junior", which you can see from my photo was not too small or too big, but just right. My Son had the grilled salmon. He gets salmon everywhere he goes. He said he'd give this one a B. It comes with mixed vegetables and be advised there were plenty of Brussel sprouts, which was okay with him, though not a vegetable popular with everyone. I get a Bellini wherever I go and this one was top notch, A+. My only complaint is they only serve it in a very large carafe, too much for one person. I ran into the same problem when I tried to switch to sparkling rose, only sold by the bottle. I've never run into that problem before. I will return for the lobster roll. But next time I'll have to bring two friends to share the carafe! read more

This restaurant is honestly a joke. The food came out half-cooked, which is unacceptable, though I'll admit the garlic sauce was the one redeeming part of the meal. We ordered a crab boil that was extremely underwhelming--just three shrimp, six mussels, five clams, and a single crab claw that wasn't even intact. On top of that, we had sangria, plus a takeout order of soup and two lobster rolls. Somehow, the bill came out to over $400. What really made the experience worse was the automatic gratuity added for just two people. When we questioned it, the waitress explained it was because the bill exceeded $300. We were both shocked--how does a basic lunch order like oysters, two crab boils, and drinks even reach that amount? Adding automatic gratuity on top of that felt excessive. When we asked Bilge to speak with a manager, we were told there wasn't one available and that she was the person in charge. That response alone speaks volumes about the level of customer service. Overall, this place is not worth your time or money. Between the poor food quality, inflated prices, and lack of proper customer service, you're much better off going somewhere else where you'll pay less and actually enjoy your meal. read more

Did not even taste grilled unlike all other grilled octopus plates I have had. Accompanying salad was good. -pan seared shrimp: good flavor with a little kick of spice. Would give it a 3.5. When I tried to order them I was told that the chalkboard menu was meaningless. So I settled for a surf and turf, with a skirt steak and half lobster. I requested the skirt steak rare. When the dish was served, oddly only two pieces looked rare and they were the ends. My bad for not pointing it out sooner, when i asked for the check, I pointed out to the server that there was nothing rare about the steak. Her response was "OK" . Not a drop of empathy, nor concern. This restaurant never lets us down. This is our local seafood go-to place. The branzino is the always a great choice as is the Korean inspired pasta dish. We usually go with friends and share at least 2 of the desserts - little pie combos and brownie sundaes. Jack's is a nice quiet place to relax on a Friday night after a long week and offers live jazz music - 2 piece arrangement - a nicety to end the week. This place is nice and has great service. The seafood is fresh too. I had the Fried Oyster appetizer which was DELICIOUS. They were juicy and bigger than I was expecting. For the entree I had the fettuccine Alfredo with lobster with a side of ratatouille and I can see why people say the Alfredo is bland. However I've experienced this type of "bland" pasta at a real nice Italian restaurant before so I'm more forgiving. I do think they should have a "Cajun" option that provides more flavor and a hint of spice. As for the Ratatouille, I'm used to it being less chopped/crunchy and more "mushy"/soft so I probably won't order that again. On the other day I had the cod fish sandwich which was a bit underwhelming. I think the proper bread for this is a brioche bun instead of ciabatta bread which soaked up the tartar sauce and made it a bit dry. Not quite five stars but so close! I'll be back for sure. It was a relatively slow day that my fiance and I went and the only reason I can't give five stars is because we probably waited a good 20 to 30 minutes after we were done eating to get the check. I came with my friend two weeks ago to enjoy this place that I have been looking to go to for the last two years and it was OUTSTANDING. Food: we did not hold back with our food choices. I went with a blueberry lemonade, avocado lobster roll, lobster, bisque, and Key lime pie for dessert. Every bite of every food was superb. The lobster bisque was full of lobster, great balance. The lobster roll went down quick because it was delicious. The key lime pie rounded out the meal. Aesthetic: nautical themed with a lot of seating. We went to Jacks last night to celebrate my birthday and was in the mood for a lobster. What a great meal. We brought out own wine, but they do serve wine and sangria. We ordered the sangria to start - was delicious. For apps, we had calamari, lobster bisque, and steamers. All was great, but the bisque was a stand out - with lots of lobster and a great little kick. The lobster tasted very dry and I had to mash in the coleslaw in order to finish it. The truffle fries were good though and they gave a lot but I was here primarily for the lobster roll. Maybe next time I'll try the lobster mac and cheese? lobster bisque? I dunno...I feel like I expected to be amazed after not having lobster rolls in YEARS. The ambiance was cool and the service was a little slow, but the food left much to be desired. I had what was supposedly a crab cake, Maine Lump Crab Cake at that. It was a bunch of breading on a bed of tomatoes in a balsamic glaze. I don't even know what the green stuff was supposed to be, but none of the flavors, which were all awful separately, went together. The truffle flies had no truffle flavor. I've been coming here for years, back when it was Jack's Lobster Shack affiliated with the place in Edgewater. It's changed a lot since then, and not for the better. Very disappointed. MISLEADING MENU: I understand listing MP for whole lobsters and what not, but 15 mins after ordering the server came back and said "higher prices have affected thing" and therefore the Lobster Mac & Cheese that was about $40 or so, and available with "extra" lobster for $30 was not really true. In fact, the extra $30 gave you the same amount of lobster that used to be "standard." C'mon people, invest 10 mins and add a "MP" sticker to your menus. SERVICE: Despite the place being nearly empty, the server spent more time playing on social media than working. Not once, but twice we had to go hunt for him, to order dessert and then get the check. Both times were at least 15 mins and he was on his mobile phone texting/playing whatever. Nice enough young man, but clearly not a professional server. FOOD: Lobster alfredo over linguine was "OK" but FYI, it was served over broad noodles, which is not linguine. No big deal. We also had the "Lobster Pot" which was drenched in an over garlicked butter sauce. The shrimp were shell-on and they dumped the seasoning on it, so you wound up (on first bite) with a mouth full of shrimp shells. Clams that came with it were way overcooked. Came here for the first time randomly on a Thursday evening around 6 PM. I do not believe they take reservations and luckily when I arrived there were seats available. Street parking is quite challenging luckily I walked here from the local hotel less than a block away. Dinner for one which included a bowl of chowder one lobster roll not the platter and one individual seasonal pie which happened to be the pecan pie totals $47 before tip. I believe this may be normal for this location of New Jersey and I did find the prices to be fair considering that the chowder was definitely full of clams and seafood as well as potatoes. It was served piping hot and the bowl is a great size. For the lobster roll which I ordered Connecticut style with the melted warm butter was amazingly delicious. It truly is overflowing with lobster meat so I am not hunting. Further the lobster meat stuffing is only lobster meat and there is no other filler or added ingredient which makes it even better. The pecan pie was ridiculously good and I wish I got a second one. Service was mediocre but nice. Mediocre meaning the two waiters I had were not very talkative but they were not rude. They seemed a little hesitant and or quiet. This is not a bad thing simply an observation especially in a people services industry. This place was so good that because I enjoyed that lobster roll i ordered more and took them home on the plane when I left. read more
