So while my past experience with this business still makes me question some of their ability, the store did do amazing helping my husband during an emergency this past weekend. He was driving his car (Kia) when it suddenly exploded with smoke coming out the front of it. Luckily he was able to turn off into a parking lot, which happens to be where this Mavis is located. The techs rushed out to assist my husband with the smoke covered car and even took it back for a quick check to see what happened. He had no intent to leave it there but these guys helped out and alerted us to a hole that got blown out the bottom of it when the explosion happened. Even though they said they couldn't fix it they concluded it was due to the oils burning too fast and allowed us to keep the car overnight in their lot until we could get it towed to the Kia dealership the following day. So while I'm jaded by my experience with this place, thank you so much for helping my husband out during a time of emergency. read more

Purchased tires in April 2023 (still Jack Williams at the time) which had a warranty for 65K miles to them. I've had my dealer and now during an oil change Mavis tells me I'll need new tires before this winter. They did't know I'd purchased them there. I have a little over 30k miles on these tires that are barely over 2 years old and they're not honoring the warranty. They started saying that they weren't rotated enough; they were and I brought in proof. They tried to blame the alignment, which turned out to be within acceptable standards. Who needs this aggravation but for slightly over $1k for tires this is pure garbage. They said they'll "make it right" but I'm still waiting. read more

Took my car in to have a tire pressure valve replaced. Mavis tech punctured tire sidewall (two 6" gashes) ruining tire. Mavis denied responsibility claiming it was a defective tire. Took damaged tire to another tire shop who showed me exactly how the poorly trained tech misused the tire machine and punctured the sidewall... unbelievably dishonest merchant... just walk away... do not do business with Mavis or Jack Williams tire. read more

I went to Jack Williams Tire and Auto Service for an oil change and had a frustrating experience. I had to wait two hours because they didn't have the oil in stock, but I stayed since they checked inventory with my car already on the lift. About 800 miles later, I noticed oil leaks. When I returned, the manager acted like he'd never seen me. They didn't even lift my car, claiming a valve cover gasket issue. Multiple Honda dealerships were booked for repairs. They did, however, quote me $250-$300 for the diagnostic and potential repairs. After spending $100 at my personal mechanic, I learned Jack Williams' techs had installed an oil filter with a pinhole leak. I'm out $100 due to a mistake that shouldn't have happened if Jack Williams did the job right the first time. I tried to contact them, but their website's Contact Us page was conveniently blank. Can't even give this one star but I can't without giving it a rating. My granddaughter took her car here for an oil change....they told her she needed a serpentine belt as well as other repairs. When a serpentine belt fails, the car is toast so she agreed to have all of the work done that was recommended to the tune of $2000. No less than 2 months later she needed an axle repaired and the car was taken to a reputable mechanic recommended by a family member. The mechanic told her that the work she had done at Jack Williams (Mavis) was unnecessary and that they took advantage of her as she was a young woman and wouldn't know the difference. This place should be closed down for illegal business practices. Steer clear of this particular shop....they will rip you off!!!!! read more

I dropped off my car to have the passenger side windshield wiper fixed. When I went to pick up the car I was told that the nut was loose on the arm and they just had to tighten it. Charged me $56.18 to tighten a nut. Then they mention the windshield is cracked. They said there was a crack visible when they removed the molding to access the windshield wiper arm and then traveled up to around the middle of the windshield. I dropped off my car with just a windshield wiper issue. I now have a cracked windshield. They did not offer any remediation, or even an apology. Will not ever, ever go there again. I tried this place because I moved and it is closer but I am going back to More Miles. I am willing to drive farther for a garage I can trust. Save your money and your mind and go somewhere else. read more

Two reviews from Bethlehem pa. I was arriving from Wilkes-Barre PA, hit an object post an accident going to view a retirement location. Stopped at the Westgate mall location told them importance, offered to take my tire off myself, so they coul repair it. They told me it was far too busy, hours to repair. Continued on to destination, contacted Jack Williams again, told me Stefko Boulevard location could do it . Made it with 18 pounds of air in my tire. Service rep asked me if if I was dropping it off or it would be hours. Service manager watched a 64 year old man change a donut, figuring he would expedite the process. Nope, I honestly called him a douche. Once outside of Bethlehem a local garage corrected the issue. What is wrong with you you? I get schedule to do normal work. But really you watched a 64 year old man change over to a donut, and the least I would have done, if I were you was to offer to expedite the repair. I had an appointment at 8am and my car didn't get taken in until around 9:30-9:45 only after I approached the counter to ask. When I talked to someone about it they were very rude and told to always be prepared to wait 30 min-4 hours when you go to a mechanic. What's the point of scheduling an appointment if they cant fulfill them? While waiting for over an hour many cars were taken back and getting looked at before mine when they didn't have appointments. I continued to wait about an hour more until someone told me they didn't have the part for my car they needed and it will be done shortly. For the cherry on top I got my key back and my house keys were not with it anymore so they had to look for them. read more

This place was recommended by my brother in law who used Jack Williams in another area. I scheduled service through their website, no response for two days. When I was going to schedule elsewhere, they scheduled the appointment. Based on my brother in law's recommendation, I kept the appointment. I "needed" 4 tires to have my inspection pass. My second experience was equally as frustrating. Went for an oil change and asked for my tires to be rotated (the ones I purchased there 8 months earlier). After getting home I noticed The tire rotation was not on the service sheet . I called, left a message to ask about it, no response. Sent THREE text message with the last one, less than kind but finally got an answer the rotation was done. I'll not be returning my car or $$$ to Jack Williams! read more

Do not do business with Jack Williams..., their mechanics lie to make their "quota"! Dropped JW after many instances of checking their work according to work order. "Most fluid levels checked and topped off as necessary" however three times found washer fluid low requiring almost a gallon! Was charged $180.00 to replace 6 six spark plugs. Was told struts were needed after 54,000 miles ....car was recently junked at 250,000 miles with original struts. Had many a word, in their waiting room with customers, with Lou and Chris at Trexlertown office.All I wanted was honest service not having to double check their work and invariably finding infractions. Jack Williams, 2445 Schoenersville Rd, Bethlehem, PA Oct 14, 2021-dropped off my 2010 Nissan Murano for state and emissions inspection. Oct 15, 2021-received call from Jack Williams garage with a laundry list of repairs needed. Asked what I needed to pass inspection, was told I needed Rear Strut/Shocks. May 2022-In process of selling car, buyers garage identified Rear Struts/Shocks were leaking. Explains why car bounces around a lot. May 23, 2022-Brought the car to Jack Williams to be checked since the parts should still be under manufacturer's warranty. Was told struts/shocks were fine, new tires will fix the bouncing problem. DID NOT GET NEW TIRES. Picked up my car and left. June 2022-buyer had the struts/shocks replaced and gave me the struts/shocks that were replaced. Evident that the parts were incorrectly installed. On June 30, 2022-I talked with Rey, new manager. The best he could do was to refund my $$ for the parts only ($380.12) and give me a voucher for the labor ($144.00). I did refuse the offer for the voucher, I paid in full for the work, I wanted a full refund. Rey did ask me to call him in a week to give him time to try to give me a full refund. I did call on July 9-Rey asked for an hour or so to make some calls and would call me back. Have not heard back from him. I am so frustrated that I was so clearly taken advantage of, assuming because I am a woman and of course don't really know much about cars and quite honestly, I don't believe I needed any of this work done at all. read more

Place will try to rip you off. Got a state inspection and they said my struts are leaking severely. I took it to sts and they said it wasn't leaking at all. Also even if they were right and it was leaking they charge almost double of what any where else charges. The guy in the front after I asked why all of my tires were still off after an hour and a half in the lift, tells me how they do the most detailed inspection and everyone's first time inspection with them as opposed to other shops is the most expensive because they find so many issues wrong with every car that comes in that need to be repaired in order to pass inspection. He said customers are usually not happy with those findings and have to shell out a whole lot of money just to get an inspection. I KNEW AT THAT VERY MOMENT I was in trouble. Still, never having any issue with the car passing inspections, and confident because the car is so well maintained -I waited and hoped for the best. WRONG. After seeing this guy talking to the mechanic a few times back and forth he finally comes up to me. After I had to ask two times while he's giving me a sales pitch if it was completed, it turns out he failed me. I asked why. He said my turn signal and my headlight. I said both my turn signal and headlight are working. He said they may be working now but that they "wiggled slightly" from inside the assembly. I went to car and pushed and knocked on assembly and nothing moved AT ALL. He said from inside when they took it apart. I asked why they'd take it apart when they worked and they are still working even after they messed with it. All he could say was that was what I needed to have them fix in order to pass the safety inspection because in his opinion the headlight could eventually go out. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I could more easily handle them trying to rip me off by recommending repairs be done, but to try to hold the car inspection hostage? No thanks. This wasn't simply a headlight he said had to be changed. He tried to say the whole assembly was bad. We paid the $60 and said give me the car. He was not happy but I wasn't peaches and cream either. It did pass emissions as well as every other part of inspection as it has for the past 8 years. It's a 2007 ford focus and very well maintained. As a matter of fact I had 4 new tires and a wheel alignment done just yesterday. I always winterize the car before the season arrives. I had other maintenance done within the past few months. My 18 year old daughter drives this car and I always make sure it is in top shape as she drives from PA to NY often. Unbelievable. I wish I'd have listened to the people that said they do this. My own fault for being roo trusting. My daughters dad is bringing it to the auto repair shop he's been using for decades tomorrow to check the whole car out again, we are both uneasy that crooks were fiddling around in our daughters car. There is a good possibility that the service is nothing spectacular or better than another place, and my lack of car knowledge makes me think these guys are geniuses, but 5 stars is what they get and here's why: My oil change light came on, my windshield wipers were smudgey, and probably a few other things... I pulled up to Jack Williams (no need for an appointment) and they fixed all this stuff in, I kid you not, 5 minutes. For a mere $30 bucks I had an oil change, new wipers, my car vacuumed, my windows cleaned, plus like 20 other things I didn't know I needed. They are not a "mechanic", and I guess the whole point of JW is for this very purpose (to change oil and such, and get you in and out quickly), but they sure do it well and don't mess around. read more

Eh.....I had a flat on a Saturday a few months back. Took it in....somehow I needed two tires, and they couldn't fix the flat (Keep in mind, I saw the puncture, I think it could have been plugged, but they see tires every day, I'll go with that it couldn't be repaired....I'll just have to trust their judgement). They sold me a new tire, and upsold me that certainly you need both tires in the front fixed.......about $100 a piece. Thus...i went from a $20 plug $200 pretty fast. They fix things pretty fast....I was in and out in an hour. They have quite a few people working there (very young mechanic types...i would assume right out of the place they got their training). The customer service is very friendly....but I wouldn't trust them to troubleshoot a major problem. Stick to the basics; tires, wipers, AC, Oil Change. It doesn't seem like they have the experience. I don't think I'd let them more serious engine work. I'll give 3 stars, but I could just as well give 2. I went here because I had to. I recognize some of the staff from Strauss Auto (now closed) across the street, it doesn't have parts for sale like Strauss, but it has the same kind of feel...... Didn't place the spare back where it should have in...they just threw it in the trunk. Would I go there again? OK, here goes...I scheduled an appointment online for two new tires and 4-wheel alignment. I got the appointment for the day I selected and the main office called me the next day and confirmed a 9:00AM appointment. When I arrived twenty minutes early, I was advised that they didn't have an appointment for me. They continued to look further into their system and finally found it. They then told me that the main office system and their remote systems do not communicate well if at all so, what's the point of having online ordering if it isn't thoroughly tested and doesn't work? They told me that the next time I schedule online, to call the store as well and let them know. Yeah, that's not happening...fix your system. Ultimately, it was if I had no appointment at all and it took them three hours to install my two new tires...they didn't do the alignment because they said there was play in the ball joints? Maybe they're right but I'm having a qualified mechanic check the car out. Maybe they ran out of time...they had tons of cars in the bays when I got there at 8:40. When you have an appointment, a three hour wait is inexcusable. I saw customers come and go while I sat there watching Kelly & Ryan which was quite painful as well. Anyway, I'm not going back...there's a lot of competition out there and I don't have the the time for these guys. read more

Bought tires for my camper last year and this year simply wanted them rotated. Was told the way THEY completed paperwork it appeared as if I carried them out the door so I ask how am I supposed to know how THEY are supposed to complete their paperwork. The price matched what I was quoted. Secondly I was told they dont provide free tire rotation for campers only passenger vehicles. NO where and at no time did any of their advertising or employees communicate this to me at time of purchase. So much for their ads being true or so much for that out the door pricing. They are rip-offs. Stay away. if you go in for a simple oil change or tire rotation they tell you have everything wrong with your vehicle. They put your car on the lift and take a wrench and start banging around until something breaks or starts leaking. This is after you sit there for 3 hours or so while their mechanics are playing games on their cellphones. By this time they have you so mad you just want to get the hell out of there, so they charge you for things they purposely broke. Don't know how they stay in business. About a month ago, before we went on vacation, I took my car here to be checked out. They made over $1,000 in repairs. This morning I returned to have my car inspected and they told me I needed front rotors for inspection and also recommended a belt and front tires(I had just bought all 4 tires from them last year). I refused the repair because my husband had just put new rotors on last year. On my way home, I passed a garage that had a sign for walk-in inspections. I told him what happened and he checked the rotors and then put on the inspection sticker. Now I'm thinking that the previous repairs weren't needed either. I'll never go back again. read more

Went to Jack Williams tire because of a special they had for Sunday. After making sure they had my tires in stock, I made an appointment to have tires installed. When I showed up for appointment, the salesman said they don't install tires on Sunday.I had driven 1 1/2 hours to get there,so I decided to take tires with me and have them mounted at our local garage. Salesman told me they couldn't give me special deal if not installed at their shop. I told them to keep their tires. I have been a Pa. Took my husbands car in for an inspection. Was told it needed some work, but not going to effect the inspection. Got a phone call saying our car was done. Waited in the waiting area for over an hour with our 3 kids, was given our key, paid our bill and we were finally on our way. My husband got pulled over today (7 months later) and was given a citation because his inspection is not current. We were NEVER told that his inspection did not pass. Now we have a citation and have to spend time getting this straightened out. POOR customer service and will NEVER go back there again. Would have given no stars, but it made me pick one UPDATE: I called corporate and spoke with the owners wife. I explained to her the situation, and she was very nice. She told me that someone would call me back. I got a phone call, 10 minutes later. I spoke with the manager, and he was VERY nice. My husband took his car in today, first thing and he was the first one in. They did his registration (after checking the car over), replaced a build that was out at no charge. They apologized about the service we received, and hoped that we would come back again. They made their mistake correct in my opinion, so I would try them again. I'm still fairly new to this area so I have yet to settle on a favorite oil change location. Jack Williams may be my new spot; there was nothing spectacular yet nothing wrong. I wandered in on a Tuesday around midday. They said it would be about an hour so I was glad that I had brought some homework to do. Their time estimation was pretty accurate though I had forgotten both my watch and phone at home so I'm not positive. It cost me just over $30 including tax for a straight up oil change with normal oil (none of the synthetic or high mileage oil). They politely mentioned that my check engine light was on, just in case I was a moron who hadn't realized it yet which I appreciate. My car is running normal, the service was fine, nothing overly friendly but not rude. It's a straight up oil change! read more

Bought 4 tires from them with free flat repair. Took a flat tire into them with a nail in the tread witnessed by myself and my son. They said it was in the sidewall and they could not fix it and that I had to get a new tire at over $220. I took the tire home and fixed it myself. It was not in the sidewall, it was in the tread. Stay Away! I was mislead into thinking I needed $1000 repair because my car failed a test. It was not until after I turned down the repair that I was told I would actually pass the inspection itself and this test was something extra. The management was unapologetic to the issue when I questioned the way it was presented to me. If I didn't use all my resources I would have believed I needed to spend the extra money. My wife took our Sienna in today for a simple tire patch. Puncture was in the tread and not anywhere near the sidewall. Store associate was very rude, told her that it would need to be replaced without even looking at it. She convinced him to talk to me on the phone, I convinced him to at least examine the tire. They removed the wheel then told her that the tire needed to be replaced and quoted her a price on one tire. Employees at this location were far more interested in selling a tire than performing a simple repair. This is the last time we will be doing business with Jack Williams.
