    Wild Gulf Shrimp Fajitas Pequeno
    Angeline C.

This place has been on my list to try.. and I was kind of disappointed. Prices are a bit high for the amount of food you receive.. and the flavor was lacking. Very bland and forgettable. The complimentary chips were amazing. Salsa was a bit runny and sweet for me. I ordered the shrimp fajitas. It was just okay for almost $30. Lacking in seasoning and amount. I honestly wouldn't come back but it's a good date spot to hangout.

So good that I ordered two!! Fresh, juicy and flavorful. Service was swift and friendly.

Cowboy breakfast with steak and huevos rancheros

I've been here twice now with my boyfriend and have tried the cowboy breakfast with steak, breakfast tacos, breakfast burrito, and huevos rancheros. The cowboy breakfast with steak is my favorite. One thing to note is the steak isn't cooked consistently. On my first visit, it was cooked perfectly, but on the second, it was dry, tough, and too chewy. I really enjoy their seasoned over-easy eggs and toast. My boyfriend liked the breakfast burrito more than the huevos rancheros. The restaurant isn't too busy during lunchtime and it's very easy to get reservations.

Tex mex. Salsa comes out steaming hot to the table. Guacamole is bright. Tortillas MUST be housemade fresh (coming from a baker myself) bc their so chewy and have a lovely bite. Wow, will come back

Second time here in Seattle and not disappointed! They have a really good brunch and $5 mimosas (several flavors!). There is a great food selection and everyone enjoyed their food (my friend loved the breakfast tacos!). I got the Huevos Rancheros and it was very tasty. Graham was our server ans he was so attentive despite being the only server and bartender! We will definitely be back on the next trip!

I've been wanting to try out Jackalope for a while now and finally came by! My husband and I came in for lunch on a Saturday morning. We made reservations but it didn't seem necessary around 11am. However, by noon there were people waiting for tables. The restaurant had an enjoyable ambiance and great service. We started out with the chips, queso and salsa. The queso was SO good, we gobbled it up so fast! Queso has been something I've been really missing from Texas and this hit the spot big time. Then we shared the large order of skirt steak fajitas and that was plenty for us to eat. It was good, but didn't quite live up to our Texan expectations. However, we will definitely be returning to try some of the other items on the menu!

    Very good warm salsa

We came here after a recent Yelp experience at the Fremont Brewery nearby and a recommendation from the bartender there. We had a nice server who was very nice, attentive and helpful albeit very busy. He was only one of two visible people out front doing everything from bartending, hosting, waiting tables, refilling items and bussing. Lots to do here! They brought out some seasoned chips and warm salsa. I have never had warm salsa. Warm chips, yes but not warm salsa. They were a nice take on the normal servings of chips and salsa. Loved this! For lunch, I had Texas Brisket Tacos which came with two tacos on the larger order. It also had some rice and beans with it. They were very yummy. My son had the Burrito Divorciado which was cut in half with one side having a white sauce topping and the other having a red sauce topping (maybe in keeping with the divorce theme for this dish?). My wife had the Rajas Enchiladas con Mole Boracho which also had rice and beans on the side. The waiter said they have a relationship with Jacks BBQ (which I am very fond of) and they supply the brisket daily (possibly other meats too?). Awesome! Very good service, good food and a large seating area. Jackalope has done Tex Mex right!

    Chips & Salsa ($3.5)
    Wendi K.

I was so excited to finally try this place! I love how they have unique dishes featuring Texas BBQ items fused with Tex-Mex dishes. The chips and salsa ($3.5) were warm and addictive. We split the chicken and beef combo fajitas ($26.5) for small and they were delicious! They somehow made chicken breast flavorful and tender. Steak was a bit chewy. BF enjoyed the margarita as well ($14). We weren't given a second one because I had forgotten my ID at home (?) which is understandable but was a little annoying, lol. Really cool, sophisticated but homey interior. Located in downtown Columbia city.

French toast with jalapeno cheddar sausage add-on

Our group stopped by Jackalope for a late weekend brunch, and the food was both tasty and interesting! I'd give Jackalope a 4.5 out of 5. For starters, we ordered the chips and salsa and guacamole to share. The tortilla chips came out fresh and warm and well-seasoned, and were truly bottomless. We were all quite hungry that day, and we enjoyed the constant refills of warm chips as we were waiting for our food. For my entree, I got the French toast with jalapeno cheddar sausage on the side as an extra addition. The French toast slices were quite generous and large and had a wonderful fluffy texture, and the orange syrup added a unique flavor to the toast. I hadn't tried anything like the jalapeno cheddar sausage before, but it was tasty and not too spicy. I usually don't care too much about presentation, but the creative plating of the toast, sausage, and orange slices was also a nice touch :) The meal was delicious, unique, and very filling. Even if you don't live near Columbia City (we don't), Jackalope might be worth going on a little adventure to try!

    Mango Chicken Salad (no cheese)
    Cari L.

Hard to find Tex mex around Seattle so this place is a gem for that alone. Came with a large group and our server was friendly, helpful, and attentive. The mango chicken salad was tasty, with plenty of nicely grilled and well-seasoned chicken. That said, I didn't love that the "mango" part of it is mostly dried mango - definitely would've preferred fresh. If you order one thing here, the chips and salsa are a unique standout, especially for the price. They season and warm the chips, and the warm salsa was surprisingly good. Overall 4 stars since the prices are pretty steep for what you get but the food and drinks themselves are solid.

    Tex-Mex at its Best

While still outside on the sidewalk- I could smell the unmistakable goodness of fajita's sizzling over a flame. As I came to my senses, I realized that Graham, the man who is all things Jackalope, was inviting me and recommending his best dishes. Talk about great service! Hey Graham, thanks for a great day.

Aside from the awesome food - which I'll get to in a second - and the live music, I was most impressed by the bartender. He was super charismatic, super friendly and very funny. When I popped in with a group of 6 or so friends, he swiftly tended to us, made sure to introduce himself and took everyone's drink order. When it came time to get food I actually decided to opt out. It was nearly midnight and I had already eaten dinner hours earlier. But my friend next to me got a basket of fries and that's when it got hard to ignore the menu... The fries were AWESOME! In fact, they were so tempting that not only did I sneak a few, I actually asked to see the whole menu. Comprised mostly of about a dozen varieties of slider, I was super happy to see the variety. Suddenly my stomach growled and though I didn't want two sliders, I knew I could share with a friend. The only issue then was deciding which to get. I recall a buffalo chicken slider but only got as far as the fried bologna. HELL. YES!!! I ordered one and my buddy ordered another. (They come two to a plate.) My little slider was DELICIOUS! In fact, it was so good that I could totally envision making a trip all the way back to this bar just to have them again. So yeah... I'm a fan. The food is great, the bartender was totally rad, the live music playing in the theater was piped into the bar and the selection of beer and booze was just enough to satisfy. What a great little addition to the hood!

DUDE, both groups started *GASP* ---CHAN-TING & clapping(?)--- my name, when right then Kira *bowchikawowow!* took my hand and guided me up front. Rewinding back, the local favorite black lady joins me. I notice the screen.... someone says "wow, 7 minutes?!" I glance at the screen----hot diggity dam! Within 1 second, I thought of: why did I pick this song, 7 minutes seems long, I totally dig this song and the beat, I've heard it before but not the whole 7 min... and thankfully glad I asked for a glass of water prior to singing, because boy I tell ya, did I have a mouth drought in the minutes coming up to this (and slightly during, but I pressed on because, the more I sang/rapped it, the more I had tunnel vision on the lyrics screen and rippin' it in my own little world). I definitely heard the times the crowd join in during the good parts---most encouraging, hehe. All said and done.... wow (and phew!). Afterwards, the local lady came up to me and said something like, "Mmm Mm...that was ^fine^!..." I think I did come with my confidence, after all. 7 minutes... of rapping!? I think I just experienced a miracle... amazing. I think I want more karaoke (and drinking not even required! =P).

If you're someone who cooks, and has said recently that everywhere you eat it costs a ton and is just okay -- like, you can make better at home? Come here. Because with few exceptions, I don't think you can. I've been here three times now and two out of three times everything was perfect. Absolutely. Perfect. I've recommended it to others and heard similar back from them. I think it's one of the more exciting restaurants in Seattle, and while the observation about cramped quarters is spot-on, I would imagine they'll likely evolve beyond that venue at some point, and that will be a pity, because having them close by in Columbia City makes me very happy. So book the patio if you want shoulder or elbow room, and enjoy a meal al fresco. And yes, it's a more expensive place, portions are small. It's a fine dining approach, and I think that's fairly clear up front. If you want a big pile of slop somewhere, there are a ton of options to fill up more cheaply. But if you want demi-glace and pan sauces that are perfect -- PERFECT! And meats you might normally not find compelling, like rabbit livers and kidney and, well, offal -- suddenly made succulent and delectable, try this. While the atmosphere is undeniably hip and trendy, the overall experience didn't justify the price tag. The food itself wasn't bad, but it lacked that "wow" factor. We tried several tapas-style dishes ranging from $20 to $50 each. The Farmer's Rice ($48) arrived in a small sauce pot, which felt underwhelming for the price. The octopus was overcooked, and the black cod was just a single, small piece. I was also disappointed by the Uni Butter Radish--the radishes were fresh, but I couldn't taste any uni at all. On a positive note, the broccolini and the potato with crab meat were the highlights of the night. Service was hit or miss. Our initial server was very kind, but the wine steward and the female server who followed were quite cold and dismissive. Bottom line: This isn't a place to go if you're looking to get full. It's better suited for a quick drink or a "pre-game" spot before heading elsewhere. The vibes are great, but the value for money isn't there.
