The mac and cheese and cornbread were both really good, though I wasn't much of a fan of the coleslaw. Other than that, everything was enjoyable. Jack's is one of our favorites. We go a little crazy and order way too much food, but our son is thankful when we bring the leftovers home after our date night. The service can be a bit hit or miss, but when it's good, it's fantastic. We recently mentioned that we always wanted to try the Pecan pie but are always too full to order a slice. Our waitress gave us a piece to go on the house! She also mentioned the coupon on the to-go bag that customers always forget about which gives you a free order of hush puppies. Wish we got her name for this review. She's always so nice. Anyway, the hush puppies are pretty tasty and big! $9.00 for 9, but even better when they're free! The tarter sauce is especially good and goes well with them. The BBQ class is also pretty amazing if you ever have a chance to so it. It comes with free drinks and a large sampling of various meats. Only one thing left to try on the menu and that the beef rib. It's 1.5 to 2lb and I don't think it comes with a side for $69.00. Absolutely stellar experience. My wife and I decided to eat here for my birthday since it is a tradition of mine to eat BBQ on my (March 15th) birthday. Not only was this the best birthday BBQ experience I've had in years, Jacks went out of their way to make sure my special day was exactly that! The server Michael was incredibly kind and welcomed us very warmly. When he found out it was our first time there, he went above and beyond to give us the rundown of what Jacks is and does well (spoiler, everything!) - And then when he found out it was my birthday he really made me and my wife feel special, including offering us a little tour of the smokers in the back after our meal was over, which was amazing!! And all of this wouldn't even matter as much if the food didn't hit - but HOLY SMOKES - can easily say this was THE BEST BBQ I have ever had in Seattle, by miles!! Everything we got was heavenly! The loaded fries with beef bacon and queso was a highlight but "the trinity" was phenomenal as well! On top of all of that, the place has such an awesome vibe and aura- Texas BBQ through and through! I came here with 3 friends the day after the Seahawks beat the 49ers in the divisional playoff. We had seen on their IG that the day after a Seahawks win, their "Jackson Smith N-brisket" burrito would be 50% off so we came by. We ordered the nachos, loaded fries, cornbread, and burrito. The nachos were crunchy, had good flavor, and paired well with both the salsa and queso provided. The fries were crispy, and the toppings complemented the base well. We devoured both of them quickly. The burrito was meaty as expected, but very flavorful. The brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage were both prevalent and the queso helped tie it all together. Lastly, I loved the cornbread. We walked in and were welcomed by a guy with a big hat and boots! Looks like we're in the right spot! Everything looked good so we just went with a couple Picnics for the family. That comes with Brisket, ribs, sausage and your choice of 2 sides. Brisket (4): Pretty tender. The smoke flavor was just okay. You can taste it and it was there, but it wasn't that strong. I like it strong. It was good though. Sausage (5): I was impressed with this. Smoke flavor came through well and the casing had a good pop to it. Ribs (3): Good flavors, but too much bite. I like more of a tender rib. Good smoke flavors though. They served all kinds of drinks from IPA's to whisky. Pick your poison to go with your meat. They give you a plate of pickles, onions, and jalapenos to pair with your meat along with some texas toast. Their sides were decent. I was surprised I liked their collard greens. I generally don't like that stuff. Overall, decent BBQ joint. They even have a large mirror over the slicing table so you can watch them slice up your brisket. Let's face it; Seattle is not a BBQ town. Most BBQ restaurants are simply caricatures of the places we BBQ fans love in places like Memphis, OKC, Biloxi, and El Paso. Happily, the folks at Jack's BBQ have done their homework, and this establishment is a happy outlier. THE ROSES: Ample parking. Dining space is roomy and comfortable with a genuine (not Disneyfied) West Texas ambience. Clean restrooms and competent staff. The BBQ is the Real Deal. Perfectly smoked meats prepared with care. This stuff doesn't need sauce, even though bottles of regular and spicy house-made BBQ is available for those who want it. Diners have their choice of a lot of creative sides. THE THORNS: A little spendy. The bottom line is that BBQ may have once upon a time been the cuisine of the Poors, but not any more. Good BBQ is labor-intensive, and doesn't come cheap. THE VERDICT: Seattle still isn't a BBQ town, but Jack's BBQ is about as close as you're probably going to get to real down-south BBQ in this town. Recommend! read more

Stopped by on a Wednesday around 1pm. Parking lot, good atmosphere, friendly staff. We started with hushpuppies, then moved onto brisket, pulled pork, and pork ribs. Hushpuppies were fine, seemed pre-made and flash fried to reheat. We really enjoyed the 1/2 lb pork ribs, tender meat, which unfortunately solidified once it cooled (inevitable). Brisket wasn't toooo juicy or fatty, but possibly just the cut we got. Pulled pork was fine, pretty standard. Had leftovers between the two of us, but $70ish pre-tip seemed a bit steep for what we ordered. If we were to revisit, would not order the pulled pork, get pork ribs, and hope for fatty pieces of brisket. read more

We had a party of 7 and were sat at a long table along the back left part of the restaurant. Our server had lots of character and a southern accent. So strong, it almost sounded fake. We ordered the full gamut and I really enjoyed the ribs! They fell off the bone and was not to heavily sauced, which can be the case at other BBQ joints. I was skeptical about Greens and the Brisket but after a few bites I knew that I made the right choice. The drinks were also the way to go. I typically always go for the old fashioned but I was a sucker for their Manhattan. *edit: my only recommendation at this time is that you guys start putting a big cube or sphere of ice in the old fashioned instead of regular ice chips. Went for a family lunch just before the holidays. We had a big party & had made reservations, I recommend reservations especially for a larger party, it can get busy here for both lunch & dinner. I have been here several times & have even had their food to go...which I know eating at the restaurant is ALWAYS better. They always have a lunch special for each day of the week, it was a smoked prime rib dip on the menu the day we were in. Jacks is also very generous with their portions and lunch specials & combos come with your choice if 2 side dishes. My husband & I were the only ones besides one of the Aunts & Uncles, who had been to Jack's before...we were really hyping up the brisket. I've had their brisket several times & even to go...it has always been very moist & smoked well so the fat cap is melting. I have to say part of the reason why I only gave them 3 stars, the brisket was very dry & fatty. I ate it BUT I had to use a lot BBQ sauce...good thing I really like the spicy BBQ sauce. My rib tips were also very dry on this day. The service & hospitality are always so good. I would definitely give them a 5 star rating for that. The floor was super sticky under my Uncle's feet...which he was seated in the middle if our long table for 14 top, our server came & wiped up the floor to make it less sticky! I thought that was excellent customer service because it was not easy to get to. And when I say sticky...I mean almost where you couldn't pick your foot up, maybe honey or sweet tea?! I don't know what it was but it was also in a couple of other spots around our table. This is a fun, loud, festive place great for big parties or small, fun Western theme. Been coming here for over 18 months. Place lost a step BIG TIME.. Used to be really good. Last 5 outta 6 times its been kinda gross. Briskets dry, no marble, no flavor, greens smell old and covered up w/pepper which gives a B.O. smell. Even the mac & cheese which is hard to fk up was kinda muuahh.. Outstanding food! Had an enormous Beef Rib (pricey, but worth it!) and 1/2 chicken. Both super flavorful and moist. Apatizers and sides were great. Service started out a little slow (they were busy), but once seated, orders taken and food came quickly and hot. The chili was a bit too spicy for my taste, but everything else was delicious. Had my daughter's birthday party here on Sunday afternoon. It's better to make a reservation in advance. There were eight adults, two teenagers and two babies in attendance. As I'm eating my way through Seattle, I was looking for some real barbecue and Jack's is about as real as it gets. Every person in that restaurant gives you the same southern hospitality that the owner from Texas does. This place feels like it's in Texas somewhere sitting outside a ranch. Wow, the BBQ here is still excellent, in fact, the brisket is the closest thing I've had to Texas BBQ outside of Texas. I met a friend here for dinner last week and it was great. The last time I visited was for the Tom Petty concert right before he passed away but we sat ourside that time. It was too hot outside for me this time so we sat inside the air conditioned bar area. The bar area was comfortable and the service was outstanding. I told our waiter/bar tender exactly what I wanted for my brisket and he delivered exactly what I asked for. And, the Irish Death on tap was great but so was the spicy marrgarita, too. Michael F. took great care of us. The Fried Pickle Jar appetizer was so good and the Corn Pudding side is out of this world. I felt like I was in West Texas at a BBQ place with brisket so tender and juicy. The food was perfect and even better then I remembered it years ago. I will return the next time I'm in the area for some more of that brisket. Brisket was a little dry on one side but the other side that was more fatty was pretty good. Went along well with the sauce they have on the side. They have two options and we tried both, the one in the bowl (pretty sure it's the chopped style) isn't as good as the sliced version even though the sliced version was a little more dry. Sausages were just alright, nothing really special about them. Ribs were also just alright. Cornbread was pretty great though, I didn't really use the butter since I liked mine plain. Chili was probably the table's last favorite side since it didn't get finished. Mac and cheese was okay, also nothing special. Jacks has great service and the ambience is a bit primitive but appropriate. The food is good but there does at times seem to be some quality control issues. Maybe it depends on who's in the kitchen but the entres will be different depending on when you are there. Nachos might be really great, layered well and cooked correctly. Other times they are kind of a mess and difficult to take a part and eat. u fortunately this affects the quality of the really good food. Brisket always great as are the other meats . Well, they sent home the chap who took my order home so my food sat there for 30 min. When I asked for my food from the bar tender informed me it was my fault. He told me Dino Rivas are normally only sold on Thursdays but they still had one or two left. Fantastic! After enjoying my amazing meal a smooth, kind tall thin cowboy with a Dallas accent named Jack swung by my table and chatted with me in casual conversation. Came to find out he was Jack, the owner of the establishment. He made you feel valued as a customer and gave it a nice personal touch. Be ready though.
