Not quite sure what the hype is all about. I was not impressed. The only good thing was the free Jack's Hand Rub (thanks Yelp!). I got a brisket sandwich with two sides. This was a good barbecue place off of broadway. It is a take out type place and then you take your food to sit. It's a lot quieter than other spots on broadway and is a fast food place that is pretty good quality. It is an older building but the vibe is still there. My only complaint is that the barbecue is just average but still good. Overall recommend as a quick option off broadway. read more

I'm not sure that it's the best in town (cough Peg Leg cough) but it's right up there. It will make you "Nash" your teeth with appreciation. I've only ever had the BBQ sandwiches, which are decently priced considering the location. I've always been satisfied. Plus this place has nice memories for me. I first came here when I was super young. And, well, I'm still super young so I'm not sure what I'm talking about. But back then they had great sandwiches. And they still do. Me and my wife are in town for the week. We came in from Texas and both of us enjoy BBQ. My wife, who likes pulled pork, got the pork shoulder plate with baked beans and Mac and cheese for her side. I got the 3 meat plate (Brisket, sausage, and pork shoulder) with Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. To start, all of our sides were good! That and the bread that comes with the meal were the highlight of the meal. However, the same cannot be said for our meats. The best meat we had was the pork shoulder. My wife and I both enjoyed that. BUT...the brisket and sausage were some of the worst I've ever had. The brisket was chewy, had no bark at all, and almost no smoke flavor. The sausage taste like the lowest end that you could find at Walmart. Avoid these two meats if possible. I would have liked to try the ribs, and probably should have instead of the sausage. read more

I got a combo plate with ribs and brisket. The ribs were honesty mediocre at best. Not much in the way of flavor or meat. Seemed like they had been sitting around for a while. The brisket was super, super dry. You need to drench it in BBQ sauce for it be eaten. The BBQ sauces were pretty good, and there was a good variety. All in all, expect this place to be your typical touristy bbq joint. Average food at an average price. I ordered the full rack of St. Louis (dry) ribs. Potato salad and coleslaw. Everything was tasty, but here I felt like the coleslaw was more vinegar based??? They have great sauces and I suggest getting the dry rims and dipping. Employees were very friendly and one told me their potato salad is like her Grandma use to make. Incredibly friendly staff, quaint environment with red leather covered booth seats, an upstairs dining room as well and the coolest neon sign on Broadway. Did I forget to mention the food? Seriously some of the best barbecue ever. Had the ribs and brisket and pulled pork, and ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender but also just charred perfectly. Brisket was a very crumbly cook - not particularly juicy, but really delicious. And the pulled pork. Just amazing. I should have ordered three portions of pulled pork. When I go back I will order three portions of pulled pork. Just order three portions of pulled pork. Repeat after me: "three portions of pulled pork". Yes, it was that good. They complement it with a selection of six sauces from traditional vinegar to sweet and mild to Carolina and a couple of others. Loved the Carolina mustard-based one. Stopped by here on my way back to Clarksville to grab some lunch. Got there about 10:45 am. They open at 10:30 am. Glad I got there early because as soon as I finished ordering my food, paying and getting some BBQ sauces to go a crap load of people started to come in for lunch. So glad I made it in before that happened! I got a lb of sliced brisket for my mom which was nice and moist and a 3 meat plate for myself consisting of ribs, sliced brisket and pulled pork with sides of baked beans, mac and cheese and two slices of thick cornbread. You do have the choice of a bun but I wanted cornbread. I saw 3 types of pie for dessert. Pecan, Chess and a Chocolate one. I got the first two to complete our meals. The pulled pork and sliced brisket were moist and had a good but not overbearing smoke flavor. The ribs were also good but very small and skinny. I wish they had been a little meatier but by the time I ate everything it was plenty of food. I would definitely stop by here again if I was in Nashville and wanting BBQ. read more
