Stopped here after bar hopping during the day. My fiancé and I split a pulled pork and brisket plate with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. It also came with cornbread. Overall, I thought the pulled pork was incredibly tender and flavorful and I really enjoyed it. I just wasn't blown away by their sauce. I liked the Tennessee bbq and Texas bbq, but I really hated the Kansas City bbq. My fiancé loved it so to each his own. I can't comment on the brisket because I don't particularly like brisket so I didn't try it. As far as the sides, the mashed potatoes and corn bread were yummy. The corn bread was whiter in color than I'm used to seeing, but the flavor was still there. It wasn't the best I've had, but it was very good! I didn't like the mac and cheese though. I've said this in so many other reviews, but I don't like soupy creamy mac and cheese, so if that's the kind of mac and cheese you like then you might like Jack's mac and cheese, it just wasn't for me. Didn't measure up to other BBQ spots, super friendly and accommodating staff but menu lacked the full range of goodies (bread pudding, veggie options, cheaper sizes for meat plates) and food quality was not even average. Our large group did OK but talking with at least four guys all agreed the meats here didn't meet any expectations, no rich savory experience I'm used to like I am used to. Fat on my brisket was both rubbery and strangely slippery at the same time - and way too much on it for easy eating. For the prices, they are not getting away with anything. My Cole slaw was below average, nicely chopped yet soaked in flavorless dressing; annoyingly the best of my four courses went to the potato salad. Tried the chocolate fudge pie, good flavor but so dry and small for the (again the prices) payout. No chocolate should ever be dry unless it's going into hot cocoa! Doesn't feel right to have deserts all packaged like a gas station, I really wanted to love this place with its urban atmosphere and vintage decor, outdoor seating, and plentiful sauces. But those were sad too, the XXX 911 sauce should have burned holes in my esophagus with a name like that but turned out less spicy than Wendy's ghost pepper stuff. We came into Nashville to pickup a friend at the Airport; had several hours to enjoy so went to Broadway. We were hungry so saw this restaurant. It's cafeteria style, get in line and pick your food. We had assortment but if your going here it's not worth the wait in line(my wife's own words); the food is passable but have had much better. The Chicken was not cooked throughly(look at the skin), brisket good but fatty and green beans lacked any flavor. The Ribs were very over seasoned, tough and had no "smoky" rim ( it was dark on outside skin pink on inside) and tasted salty (dry rub). I've had Dry rub ribs and BBQ from Memphis, Texas, S. Carolina so I know my BBQ and Ribs. However, the cornbread was delicious, sweet and moist and potato salad was actually the best I've had in a long time. The coleslaw were very good too. We ordered 2 "kids" plates with ribs and 2 small sides (around$7.00 each). In hindsight, I would have just eaten the kids serving/selection over adult plate portions. Seemed overpriced but it is the main strip. But at, $41.00, no drinks other than water(they changed .50 per cup), it's not somewhere I'd be returning. I remember coming to Nashville for work and there was a BBQ place, similar to layout, north of downtown Nashville where was a regular place for the Coast Guard(they show up in uniform). Jacks undoubtedly lives up to its name of the best BBQ joint in Nashville. There was quite a long line, and it moved very quickly as I anxiously approached the menu to place my order. The aroma was overwhelming, I wasn't quite sure what it was I was smelling.. but I didn't want to miss out so I ordered a bit of everything. Their ribs fell off the bone, and the brisket sandwich melted in my mouth. All of the feel good sides delivered as expected. This place is a really great value with excellent food. Aubs and I shared the brisket plate and the ribs plate. For sides we tried mac/cheese, cinnamon apples, potato salad and green beans. The brisket was great, ribs were good but not as good as you'd find in Memphis (can't beat the Memphis dry rub). All the sides were really good, green beans and potato salad were the best. Solid choice for bbq! We had gotten in town later than expected (thanks winter storm) but found this place open when we arrived. Staff was very welcoming and answered all questions. I am not a barbecue expert but this place in my opinion is the best. I ate the brisket for the first time and it Melted in my mouth. The ribs guys was so tender a baby could enjoy this (smile) I had The Mac n cheese, potato salad and yams and guys each one was amazing. The Kansas sauce makes you want to buy a bottle. The only reason to consider coming to this establishment is if you have a good buzz going or drunk. If you start off eating first sober before you go bar hopping you're gonna have a bad time. What seemed to take forever to wait in line to be greeted to good smelling food which is promising especially when they pull out all the meats they have. It ends there, the sides are equivalent to school food..it was bland, watery, and mediocre quality. My ribs were dry, the Mac & cheese was horrendously bland and watery, the greens were watery, and the apples were just pathetic with no flavor of sugar or cinnamon. We regret spending our $50 here especially since we were in Nashville and were in hopes of great bbq. Could be because they know people who are there are drinking and can get away with it. As far as ambiance goes, it was a dirty place, granted it's bbq but the trash cans were overflowing, pieces of food on the floor, crumbs and sauce by the stations. I'm not sure why they've got an overall 3.5 star rating but this place was good! A line out the door had to mean something. The line went fast though. People didn't linger here either. They sat, ate, and left which was great for my family and I as we were a group of 5. I'm sure there were locals in there but it seemed like a lot of people were trying this place for the first time too. What was awesome is that they had seating upstairs and in the patio and there was a screen by the assembly line that showed the rooms in real time. Great way to find out where there's an open table! The people at the assembly line were nice and served good portions too. I got the pork shoulder plate with sides of green beans and baked beans. I tried each of the sauces and they were all really good! Baked beans tasted better than the ones at Hattie's B. Green beans were good too but might have been a little too peppery. The bread tasted a lot like cornbread. It was heavy and definitely filling. They give you two pieces which was generous! My family got a mixture of some of the things I got. Some of them got the Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and apples. They all thought it was good! My mom got the ribs while daddy got a smoked turkey sandwich. They liked it too!
