I will try any place that has donuts. Show me you're worthy of my donut business. This Jack's is pretty good but what makes it better is the customer service. The people I've met here are very friendly and maybe it's because it's off the beaten path. The donuts are a 4/5 only because of how they fill the long johns. ETA: During the next trip, we were being helped by a nice young woman. The angry lady came over to the drive thru window specifically to scold us! She said, "You have to come inside for two dozen." She said this was because they were to busy. There was LITERALLY no other customer on premise. Then she said that, for two dozen assorted, they have to walk around too much and that's why we need to go in. The donuts don't move if I walk in the door or pull up in a drive thru. I cannot wrap my head around this. What about people with mobility issues? What about moms with young kids in the car? I found this donut shop one night after shopping and dinner out. I risked buying donuts for the next day at 8 pm. I figured the donuts would be old and starting to taste stale. I'm not used to finding a donut shop open late at night. As I walked in I noticed all the empty "jewelry" cases and was greeted by the employee and learned that the one remaining case was all they had left. I joked that it was unacceptable but she still had an assortment of a wide variety of donuts. There weren't any of my favorites missing so I was able to fill a box of a dozen and get a bag of holes as well. Ok those of you who can leave a donut store and make it back to work or home without eating one, raise your hand. Yeah I thought so. So my granddaughter and I each tried one on the way home and we were very surprised of the freshness of the donut. They tasted so good I had to "sample" a second one when I got home. You know, just to make sure they were still 'fresh' enough for the kids to eat ;-) If you heat them up for 10-12 seconds in the microwave oven they can taste like they were just made as when they were cooked and these passed that test. Bottom line is I like Jack's for donuts and I will be coming back. Plus I have added them to "My Favorite Plainfield Locations" collection because they are worthy of my repeat business. read more

I stopped in Jack's for donuts after discovering them tucked away in a shopping center on Stafford Road (east of SR 267) the night before. The shop is located on the east end of the shopping center and so it has a drive-thru available, but I decided to simply park in the abundant lot and walk in passed the outdoor patio. The interior had lots of room for customers to wait in line or grab a small table. The majority of the donuts were in glass cases between the customers and employees so that customers can get a good look at the donuts. They had a decent selection with many having a flavored glaze/icing (chocolate, caramel, or sugar glaze) within the donut category. The donuts, especially the twists and long johns, were large enough they could be shared (but does anyone ever share a donut?) I ended up purchasing a Tiger Tail (glazed two toned twist), a Carmel Apple (filled bismark with icing), and a Chocolate Nut Stick (unfilled, but with chocolate icing and chopped peanuts.) The Tiger Tail was light and very sweet. I couldn't tell any difference in the flavor of the two shades of the twist. The Carmel Apple had filling in each bite, though not a enough to drip out. The Chocolate Nut Stick had good flavor, but the longer the nuts sit on the chocolate, the more moisture they absorb. I didn't eat this one until the following morning and the nuts became chewy. So, for maximum enjoyment, eat it right away. It's good to see a local business (New Castle, IN) be so successful and to continue bringing good quality as it expands. Review #3480 read more

In the last few months we have visited the Avon location any times. Went by this morning and closed. Nothing on the door explaining why. Called Plainfield location and they still open so drove over there. Could have easier gone to multiple Duncan Donuts or a big box grocery. Drove here for excellent large donuts. I don't know when or why Avon closed. Plainfield location had two nice friendly employees who I bet were tired of being asked why Avon closed. Donuts of course very good. This location sure seems smaller than Avon which knocks it down a star. Did have a drive through l Don't let the situation get you down. Have a donut. Taste great. Filling. The staff was extremely friendly and greeted me as soon as I walked in. There was a large variety and everything looked extremely fresh. I don't know that I would search this place out to get donuts if I was in another part of town but I was happy with my selections. The plain glazed donut was very soft and delicious. The Bavarian Cream donut was yeast and it taste more like a roll than a donut but it was fresh and soft and the "cream" was more on the Jello side rather than true cream. It was still good. Jelly and custard donuts should have a reasonable amount of filling in my opinion. Our last dozen was very disappointing. After my 1st donut with very little filling I got a pen and paper for some notes. Each donut was 7 bites. Only 3 of the 7 bites had filing. We went Kroger and tried the same process (6 out of 7). The name has "donuts" in it. Need I say more? This new location has an array of donuts to choose from. They also have a drive-thru in case you're not feeling like going in. It was pretty busy when I went in on a Sunday afternoon, but the line moved very quickly, and they handled my order well :) They have some interesting donuts like the cereal roll which is coated in fruity pebbles cereal! These were awful. We ordered the Jack's Dozen and picked out our donuts, they apparently had zero donut holes so they told us at pickup that they substituted them for sprinkle donuts. I thought that was fine, it was just one part of our order. When I opened it up, they literally substituted ALL of our donuts for sprinkle donuts and sprinkle sticks. Not only did we not get a single thing that we ordered, but the donuts were awful. The dough wasn't fluffy at all, so it was basically like eating a slice of stale bread with frosting and sprinkles. This was an absolute waste of $20 and you'd have better luck going to a gas station to get whatever is on their roller. read more

I havent tried the avon location yet, but if the donuts at the plainfield location are any indication, they are truly Delicious ! the yeast/glazed is awesome, (home made .. !) the cherry fritters (they were out of the apple) were sooo yummy ! Hmmm, donuts are supposed to be a perfect hand held sweet, but not too sweet, snack experience. I happen to love donuts- the Donut Plant in NYC sells some of the best donuts in the country. Jack's, not so much. The donuts were good sized, over glazed (the chocolate glaze was crystallized and looked like granulated gloppy plaster. The Bavarian filling didn't taste freshly made which was what I expected. The glazed croissant was good but again, too sweet and I regretted eating it. These guys can do so much better. read more

I've been visiting Jack's Donuts in Plainfield for years now and every time I go I am greeted with a smile and someone with a great attitude. When I say every time, I mean every time. Not once have I not been pleasantly greeted. Whoever is running this place is hiring the right type of people. I pass 2 other donut shops to go to Jack's Plainfield. I've been here several times now and I have to say the service is terrible. I've had rude service and very slow incompetent service. It shouldn't take 15 minutes in the drive up when you're the only car and there is nobody in the lobby! I ordered a dozen assorted doughnuts and a black coffee for goodness sakes. Then the order was messed up! I don't buy doughnuts all the time but from now on I'll just go to Dunkin. At least the service is better. read more
