I must admit that despite my reporting on the apparent donut wars in Avon Indiana, with no less than five different donut shops in the growing town, I'd completely forgotten about the presence of Rise n' Roll Bakery until I happened to be on my way out to Putnam County and happened to look over and see the shop in a relatively small strip center. Rise n' Roll was founded in Middlebury, Indiana by an Amish family as an offshoot of the family's selling of donuts from the porch of their Shipshewana home. Established a Rise n' Roll in 2004, it stayed relatively small for years. The original bakery didn't use electricity, refrigeration, or modern tech. Everything was by hand. In 2009, the Amish owner sold the company to a non-Amish family. It was moved to a larger facility - the original owner stayed employed by the company and the small bakery began to expand including franchising. In recent years, the Central Indiana presence has grown. Rise n' Roll offers donuts, pastries, Amish goods, deli, and other items. While I was sad to see Rise n' Roll leave their Broad Ripple spot, truthfully I tend to resonate more with its simpler locations (there's now a smaller shop in Nora). This spot in Avon reminds me of Nora. I believe the Indiana-based chain has 16 locations statewide. I'm a definite fan of the chain and have never had a bad experience at any location in terms of product or people. I primarily stick to donuts when coming here, however, I'll occasionally deviate. While I'd say that Rise n' Roll is decked out a bit nicer than Carl's, I felt a similar vibe here. In a town that has multiple options, it's really important to distinguish yourself and Rise n' Roll does that nicely. The cinnamon caramel donut is perhaps its most widely known and beloved option, however, I'm a fan of chocolate frosted (yeast or cake). Donut offerings can vary between locations. Employees here are friendly. The strip center has accessible parking with appropriate curb cuts. The single glass door was pretty manageable. I get the sense they'd easily help if help was needed, though it's obvious that most folks with disabilities prefer independence. Overall, I'd easily claim Rise n' Roll as one of my Avon favorites. I won't dare rank the five, though a quick read of my reviews would likely make it obvious. For a more natural option in a pleasing, welcoming setting it doesn't get much better than Rise n' Roll. read more

Amish baked goods and coffee and boba and other things!! This place is bigger than I thought. Be sure to check out the entire store. There are more things in the back and even an extensive boba drink menu. There are restrooms here. The service was good. The donuts are delicious. There are some really nice unique flavors. The coffee menu is extensive. I didn't see coffee on the menu online. I got the Bismark crunch. This was good but the crunch pieces on top just sank to the bottom because of how heavy it was. Over the top, friendly service, beautiful upscale venue and great pastries make this Rise'n Roll Bakery on easy 5. This Amish inspired bakery is large, selling everything from Amish eggs to peach fry cakes. Fresh pastries were coming out of the oven when we entered. We bought a recommended favorite cinnamon powdered donut and several fry cakes. Fry cakes are decadent hand-held popovers filled with fruit and covered with a sugar glaze. Everything we tried was delicious, so good that we took some fry cakes home. The friendly clerks told us about daily specials that will keep us coming back for more. There is interesting, modern, Amish-themed decor throughout the store. Seating is comfortable and clean at their cafe tables. Coffee is simple and good. Rise'n Roll Bakery is a Indiana-based franchise that start in Middlebury, Indiana. The recipes have Amish origins and ingredients are fresh. There is plenty of parking (with nice wide spaces) including ADA parking in the strip mall. read more

Still the best donuts in Avon!!!! My favorite is always the chocolate peanut butter!!! It is da bomb!!! Filled with so much ooey gooey goodness and definitely filling! They have decided to start selling coffee which I think was something they were always missing. Today I tried the large $6 cinnamon caramel macchiato and hot one too, you can definitely taste the cinnamon but it definitely needed more expresso,Not very strong at all which is what people want from a coffee. They have a full wall of salsas, pickled jalapeños and even jams. Service is always fantastic and if you want to stay awhile they have 3 cute tables set up! read more

They always have good selection of doughnuts plus cookies, Amish items, some deli items and coffee drinks. The mocha doughnut may be the richest I've ever had. On our way through town, we ate lunch next door and decided to drop in for a sweet treat. The shop is a nice size and was super clean. The staff greeted us promptly and offered to answer any questions. After perusing the case, we decided on a vanilla iced donut. It was very tasty! My mother, the queen of baked goods, buys cinnamon rolls here. That's how you know! The caramel one is a little sweet for me, I stick with classic cream cheese - it is THE BEST you will EVER have. And I haven't even microwaved it! All of this occurred before I visited and discovered it is an Amish bakery (remember Auntie Anne, also Amish maker of the very best pretzels known to America?) - THAT is who's making all these heavenly delights! I came for the cinnamon roll and I'm biased towards chocolate, but my strategy is to ask for House favorite, so I was led in a new direction, and let me share a secret: the street name for their Cinnamon Caramel is "Amish Crack" and IT IS THAT DANGEROUS. I love that the donuts and pastries are all lined up at the counter where they're easy to see. I was picking up a pre-order meal from another store and stopped in to get something for dessert. I got the lemon jelly donut and the vanilla frosted donut. The lemon jelly donut is excessively sweet so much so that I stopped eating after two bites. They could tone down some of the sweetness if they don't glaze then cover the donut in powdered sugar. The second donat was vanilla frosted and while it was a but better, the frosting was still too thick so I had to scrape some off. I've heard some people talk about how great the donuts, etc are but I think I'll pass next time. read more

I was excited to try an Amish bakery since I used to get their backed goods regularly as a child. There was plenty of parking, the inside was very clean and quaint, the service was good. The employees were friendly and efficient. We tried chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodle cookies, a Dutch apple pie and my husband tried a couple of donuts. They were good, not great but good. Rise'n Roll is excellent! This morning I stopped in at 7:30 and was greeted as soon as I walked in. I had a sample of their key lime donut, which I'm not usually a key lime fan, but this was delicious. I asked for a dozen donuts and deferred to the gentleman working to make the selections. He clarified whether I wanted rings and premium donuts and selected his favorites. They were also giving out a free cinnamon and sugar donut with each order. They have a variety of cookies, muffins, and other baked goods as well as some fancy looking jams, jellies, pickles and other canned items. They have coffee too. I've been to the location in Fishers numerous times and always had great service! I've now been to the location in Avon twice and the first time they said they never received their shipment of donuts so I figured it was a sign to get the cinnamon rolls and they were good. Second time coming to this Avon location and sign says the location opens at 7 as well as the online posting. Early Saturday afternoon, who wants a donut? I do! And did I make the right choice out of all the places up and down Rockville Road where I could get a donut? YES! Easy to get in and out of Rise 'n Roll as there is a traffic light on 36 that cuts through the heavy traffic. Bonus -- same strip as Yats Cajun Creole?!?! AWESOME. So, inside we go, expecting the selection to be picked over and choices few... but we were wrong! A WALL of DONUTS. And a tray of each of the 30+ varieties laid out on a 20-foot long counter so you can easily see what you're getting! I haven't taken a bite yet and I'm already super impressed. And I'm not easily impressed, so super impressed is saying something. The quality of the the construction of the interior of the shop is now hitting the senses... it's not just the donuts making me feel warm and fuzzy. This place feels comfortable. And it's not jammed with customers, incredibly. We have the full attention of the nice human helping us reach donut nirvana, who is also extremely patient while we deal with the unexpected bounty in front of us. So by this point, we want a full dozen. We choose, one by one. And we end up getting an extra half-dozen box of yesterday's assorted donuts for the low, low price of $5, too. And now we are ready to notice there's more than just a wall of donuts here. More baked goods. Whoopie pies. Cookies. Muffins. Candies. Jams and jellies. Jars of every kind of pickled goodness. Popcorn. Ok, I've lost the ability to take it all in today. Without one taste, I'm already vowing to return so I can try other treats that I might not even know about yet. Time passes. The rest of the errands are run. We are home, victorious. Time for a donut. I opt for the basic glazed yeast donut from the Yesterday's box. After one bite, I know I cannot but choose well. This is about the best day-old yeast donut I have ever put in my mouth, and I am so happy we chose Rise 'n Roll today. I end up eating two. We all do. And after dinner, dessert is ready. And breakfast tomorrow, or a midnight snack before that, even. Ok. If you are still reading, I know you want a donut from this place. Go. Get one. Get 18 like us. Get more. I'm very picky about my donuts and have always been dedicated to Long's on the west side of Indy. None of the other bakeries I've tried could compare, until I stumbled upon Rise'n Roll. Their famous cinnamon caramel donuts are what got me through the door. My family and I instantly became fans. The donuts are so good and they literally melt in your mouth. Not only are their donuts good, but their pies are delicious as well. I came in during the week and they had samples of their peach pie available. It was the best peach pie I've ever tasted. I was sad that they were out of the larger pies that day, but was able to snag one on my next visit. From the crust to the filling, it was so good! Well my daughter had a 8 am orthodontist appt right down the road. As you know you have to eat breakfast after visiting the orthodontist so I was happy to visit Rise and Roll for some doughnuts. There is a broad assortment of delectable choices. They all looked good. I spotted a unique winner in the Carmel apple filled doughnut. It was very light and airy packed with apple filling. I have to rank it right up at the top of doughnuts I have eaten. I had no idea but this store also sells a ton of other non doughnut items like pickles of all kinds and jams and preserves. I picked up some very good pickled green beans and ate some for lunch the next day. workers are wearing masks! my first time going to this delightful indiana based amish bakery on a weekend. i decided to try some donuts because i've had the cinnamon rolls many times lol. the associates helped me pick out some things as i stated i need some crunch. they were super detailed with describing the donuts and the differences between them - unprompted - sooo helpful . i know i said that but it was a natural conversation and i appreciated it. it doesn't take long to get your order and of course the tables are still covered in pastries for you to take home. today i noticed there were samples out of donut holes. i didn't try them but i thought it was nice to see if you haven't been here you should go. i think they have a location to serve every side of town now read more

It's super soft and fluffy and has a cinnamon sugar topping that's very messy but delicious! My family enjoyed the other flavors I picked out as well. We promised the kids we will get a special treat again on Friday because they wanted more! Haha! The shop is super cute and bright. Extremely clean and inviting. The two young ladies working this morning (8/23/21) were so polite and made my first Rise'n Roll experience great! My personal favorite was the Lemon Filled Bismark Donut. The donut was stuffed with an excellent, thick lemon filling. The bakery is laid out well. As you enter the tables are to your right while the counter with the donuts, fritters and cinnamon rolls are to your left. The pre-packaged pies, cookies and 6 pack to a half-sheet pan of cinnamon rolls are toward the back. A fridge is also located in the back with beverages, cheeses, meats and bake at home pies plus more. I loved the selection of donuts and realize they are heavy donuts. Some probably prefer a lighter donut for breakfast and they offer those as well. The masked woman behind the counter was friendly and helpful. The bakery was well organized and clean. I have not been out to alot of places since covid-19. A friend of mine had told me that the Avon location was open for Rise'n. Roll Bakery. I was so excited to hear that something great was opening in Avon. I stopped in Wednesday 8/26. All the staff was incredibly nice, so nice that I didn't realize, well into the visit that Natalie I was talking to is the daughter to the owners of the shop. I had only been to one other Rise'n Roll in Fishers the beginning of August. I have to say that the Avon location is bright inside, everyone is happy, and the selection of items is alot more than the other location. I didn't realize until talking with Natalie that each store is individually own, and ran. Her parents looked into owner a store after going to one of the other locations, and fell in love with the company, and their product. Which I completely understand because just about everything I have tried is amazing. The store has been open now a little over a month, and it's busy, which is great. I am so happy for them, especially with everything going on in the world. It's nice to be able to go some where, and get something sweet, and just unwind. They have a few stools by the window for customers to enjoy their treat. This store has much more than just donuts. They have pies, breads, popcorn, variety of chocolate bark bars, cinnamon rolls, variety of cheeses, jelly, jams, salsa, sauerkaut, pickles, pickle garlic, cookies, and so much more. I went back again today Saturday 8/29, it was alot more busier than Wednesday of course. Today, I picked up zucchini bread which they only have a few days a week. While I was there of course I saw more things to get that I didn't see on Wednesday. Attached will be pictures of all the stuff I got Wednesday, and today Saturday. I have tried everything attached. The Danishes are all amazing my favorite in order would be cheese, blueberry, cherry. Apple, and the special flavor raspberry is good. Apple fritter so moist, and not greasy like some donuts you get. Pumpkin bread oh my this is a must. The bread is most, soft and fresh. Cookies, oatmeal raisin, snickerdoodle, and lemon krinkle. All the cookies are so soft they just bend apart. I am not of a lemon krinkle fan at all, but this is a must try. What is nice about all their items is they are package as 3 pack, or 6 pack for the cookies. The cinnamon rolls come individual, 4 pack, 8 pack, and 12 pack. Some packages of the cinnamon rolls come with either all carmel glaze, all cream cheese, or half and half. The carmel frosting has a carmel and maple taste. The cream cheese is a frosting cream cheese very mild not too sweet. The pecan roll, oh my goodness full of sweet, moist pecans, with a little taste of maple. Again, you can buy individually or in packs. The garlic pickles, taste like a semi sweet pickle, with that garlic taste. So if you like pickles, and garlic, its delicious. Ice tea is so good. They rotate a flavor tea. Like Wednesday I had the hibiscus tea, and today a pomegranate green tea. They always have a black tea. As I was shopping today, I met Rochelle and James, the owners. Rochelle was on the floor restocking, and is so sweet. This place is definitely open to ideas from their customers. A secret tip......there is a table in the back of the store with a 30% off sticker on select items. It's the Danishes, donuts, pies in the cooler. Because everything is made fresh daily, the items left over from the day before is marked down. I bought the Danishes, on Wednesday and today being Saturday they are still good. You warm them up for about 20 seconds, and it's fresh, and soft. I forgot for $2.99 you can buy a reusable bag. This bag is so wide it fits your danish or donut large box just right, and you can put anything else you buy. Very nice bag. Check out the store and the wonderful staff. Enjoy!! read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review yet!! RnR is our weekly stop on our way home from dance class on Tuesdays. The employees are all so kind and are almost like family. They're always asking my daughter how dance was and commenting on her growth. But on to the food: Aaaaahhhmazing!!! Donuts are so soft, even the day olds!! They practically melt in your mouth. We also grab the popcorn on occasion. The five flavor is a big favorite of my kids-I mean who can resist all those gorgeous colors! ALWAYS snag one of the seasonal donut flavors. February was chocolate covered cherry and glazed cherry and they were both sooo good! Last summer they had a lemon cream filled that was my favorite And of course they had a pumpkin flavor in the fall! It's always exciting to see what's going to come next! They're always offering some kind of free sample-so fair warning-when you try that sample you're going to need to buy some!! But donuts aren't all they have to offer-CINNAMON ROLLS-sooo gooey warmed in the microwave and giant filled muffins so flavor filled and fruity! Whoopie pies and cookies galore!!
