Still the best donuts in Avon!!!! My favorite is always the chocolate peanut butter!!! It is da bomb!!! Filled with so much ooey gooey goodness and definitely filling! They have decided to start selling coffee which I think was something they were always missing. Today I tried the large $6 cinnamon caramel macchiato and hot one too, you can definitely taste the cinnamon but it definitely needed more expresso,Not very strong at all which is what people want from a coffee. They have a full wall of salsas, pickled jalapeños and even jams. Service is always fantastic and if you want to stay awhile they have 3 cute tables set up!

If your going to have a doughnut make sure it's a good one. Rise'n Roll never disappoints and they're recently won a lot of awards. They always have good selection of doughnuts plus cookies, Amish items, some deli items and coffee drinks. The mocha doughnut may be the richest I've ever had. The pecan roll is huge and dripping with pecans. Just make it easy and get a selection. The gym will be waiting tomorrow.

My family and I love Rose n' Roll donuts so much. They are some of the best donuts we have ever had. They are always so soft and so delicious. I love the sprinkled donut the best! They are classic and very tasty!! They have a little market inside so you can get other products there also. They are always so kind and super quick!

On our way through town, we ate lunch next door and decided to drop in for a sweet treat. The shop is a nice size and was super clean. The staff greeted us promptly and offered to answer any questions. After perusing the case, we decided on a vanilla iced donut. It was very tasty! The dough was soft and slightly yeasty, and it clearly had been fried in fresh oil. The icing, while ample, wasn't too much. We'd visit again if we're in the area!

    Lemon crinkle & monster cookies.

Cute establishment with a variety of pastries and cookies. In particular, the lemon crinkles were out of this world (fluffy, natural lemony flavor) that melted in your mouth. The monster cookies (oatmeal, PB, m&m's) were average and maybe the texture was off to me. However, I'll be back for those crinkles!

My mother, the queen of baked goods, buys cinnamon rolls here. That's how you know! The caramel one is a little sweet for me, I stick with classic cream cheese - it is THE BEST you will EVER have. And I haven't even microwaved it! All of this occurred before I visited and discovered it is an Amish bakery (remember Auntie Anne, also Amish maker of the very best pretzels known to America?) - THAT is who's making all these heavenly delights! I came for the cinnamon roll and I'm biased towards chocolate, but my strategy is to ask for House favorite, so I was led in a new direction, and let me share a secret: the street name for their Cinnamon Caramel is "Amish Crack" and IT IS THAT DANGEROUS. Milly's favorite is the Cinnamon Caramel filled with Bavarian Crème and I almost lost my ever-loving mind. I'm sorry for sharing, because this may blow up and be responsible for your next 15 pounds but that shit is DELICIOUS. Like fly yourself to Indiana to see whichever distant relative and get one next weekend delicious. I'm glad I live far enough away to work on my impulse control.

I was picking up a pre-order meal from another store and stopped in to get something for dessert. I got the lemon jelly donut and the vanilla frosted donut. The lemon jelly donut is excessively sweet so much so that I stopped eating after two bites. They could tone down some of the sweetness if they don't glaze then cover the donut in powdered sugar. The second donat was vanilla frosted and while it was a but better, the frosting was still too thick so I had to scrape some off. I've heard some people talk about how great the donuts, etc are but I think I'll pass next time.

Tried the salted caramel pumpkin macchiato with almond milk and it was delicious! They ran out of oat milk when I was there but I'm just glad they had a nondairy milk option. I didn't try their donuts this time but I can't wait to go back!

I was excited to try an Amish bakery since I used to get their backed goods regularly as a child. There was plenty of parking, the inside was very clean and quaint, the service was good. The employees were friendly and efficient. We tried chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodle cookies, a Dutch apple pie and my husband tried a couple of donuts. They were good, not great but good. Maybe they just weren't exactly as I remembered (the reason for the 4 stars).

Rise'n Roll is excellent! This morning I stopped in at 7:30 and was greeted as soon as I walked in. I had a sample of their key lime donut, which I'm not usually a key lime fan, but this was delicious. I asked for a dozen donuts and deferred to the gentleman working to make the selections. He clarified whether I wanted rings and premium donuts and selected his favorites. They were also giving out a free cinnamon and sugar donut with each order. They have a variety of cookies, muffins, and other baked goods as well as some fancy looking jams, jellies, pickles and other canned items. They have coffee too. I made a lot of our staff and residents happy this morning with these delightful treats! Highly recommend and will definitely return.

Early Saturday afternoon, who wants a donut? I do! And did I make the right choice out of all the places up and down Rockville Road where I could get a donut? YES! Easy to get in and out of Rise 'n Roll as there is a traffic light on 36 that cuts through the heavy traffic. Bonus -- same strip as Yats Cajun Creole?!?! AWESOME. So, inside we go, expecting the selection to be picked over and choices few... but we were wrong! A WALL of DONUTS. And a tray of each of the 30+ varieties laid out on a 20-foot long counter so you can easily see what you're getting! I haven't taken a bite yet and I'm already super impressed. And I'm not easily impressed, so super impressed is saying something. The quality of the the construction of the interior of the shop is now hitting the senses... it's not just the donuts making me feel warm and fuzzy. This place feels comfortable. And it's not jammed with customers, incredibly. We have the full attention of the nice human helping us reach donut nirvana, who is also extremely patient while we deal with the unexpected bounty in front of us. So by this point, we want a full dozen. We choose, one by one. And we end up getting an extra half-dozen box of yesterday's assorted donuts for the low, low price of $5, too. And now we are ready to notice there's more than just a wall of donuts here. More baked goods. Whoopie pies. Cookies. Muffins. Candies. Jams and jellies. Jars of every kind of pickled goodness. Popcorn. Ok, I've lost the ability to take it all in today. Without one taste, I'm already vowing to return so I can try other treats that I might not even know about yet. Time passes. The rest of the errands are run. We are home, victorious. Time for a donut. I opt for the basic glazed yeast donut from the Yesterday's box. After one bite, I know I cannot but choose well. This is about the best day-old yeast donut I have ever put in my mouth, and I am so happy we chose Rise 'n Roll today. I end up eating two. We all do. And after dinner, dessert is ready. And breakfast tomorrow, or a midnight snack before that, even. Ok. If you are still reading, I know you want a donut from this place. Go. Get one. Get 18 like us. Get more. I'm not worried there won't be any left for us! And they are open all day. Woo. Hoo!

Their donuts are so good. And they now offer a variety of coffee drinks. They also have a mini Amish bakery area which is filled with cheese and canned goods and pies. There is plenty of seating or you can grab and go.

This aint no Dunkin Donuts! This seems to be a new chain popping up around town. They are a donut and sweet-pastry shop but they use much higher quality ingredients than your typical commercialized bakery. I just got a simple bavarian cream donut and it was amazing! That custard inside was the real deal - not the yellow guck that comes out of a can that most places use. The shop was full of seasonal breads and coffee cakes that looked amazing. Definitely going back

I've joked about the donut wars going on in Avon, Indiana as my life has taken me through Hendricks…read moreand Putnam counties quite a bit lately. Avon has at least four donut shops within 1-2 miles of each other - Parlor, Dunkin, Pana, and Carl's. Of these, Carl's is clearly the "local" shop. It has the look and feel of a gathering place. While the others do offer sit-down dining, especially Parlor, Carl's feels like a smalltown donut joint with its simple but pleasant decor, lower pricing, and comfortable but pleasing service. Carl's Donuts & Bakery is a locally owned donut shop (Pana is also locally owned, though a growing chain). Carl's also doubles as a cafe and also serves other breakfast items alongside its donuts. The major plus to this approach for a guy like me is that fountain drinks are available including iced tea. I'm constantly dismayed how hard it is to get iced tea in donut shops. I was dismayed to read Jen F's review noting poor customer service as my experience was quite the opposite with customer service being a key strength. The basics: Carl's is located in what looks like a small office complex with a mix of retail and personal service type businesses. It's toward the back. There's some accessible parking and appropriate curb cuts. There's a double entry with glass doors that were pretty easy to manage. As you enter, a dining area is directly to the front of you and to the right side. To the left is the ordering area - I think I goofed up at entry - you begin toward the back and then exit out the front path. I went in through the front, though there wasn't a line and no one said anything. The employees asked if I was ordering breakfast or donuts. I typically get 2-3 donuts and a drink. I stuck with this plan, however, given the comfy atmosphere opted to dine in. I haven't had much time to rest recently and it was nice to sit down. I felt a little out of place (everyone else was clearly local), though everyone was friendly. I ordered chocolate covered yeast donuts and a fountain unsweetened iced tea. They offer discounts, it seems to military, teachers, and first responders. The donuts had a slightly thicker yeast than some that lean toward fluffy. These were more substantial. The chocolate reminded me of Titus Bakery. The iced tea was great - no clue on brand. I could have stuck with two donuts instead of three and been satisfied. The service was a top feature here for me. They were friendly, helpful, and patient as I figured things out. I watched them easily serve a group of senior males gathering in one corner (pouring coffee, etc.). Carl's does not have a drive-thru. Their Facebook indicates they offer curbside pick-up. In future visits, I'd likely experiment with donuts. This particular chocolate is not a favorite for me. I enjoyed it, but I'd easily experiment. There's no doubt I'd return for the service. At a time when I've recently lost my last family member, it was nice to be in a comfortable, welcoming, and warm environment. It did my spirit good. I would also love to return to enjoy a meal here. Carl's wasn't packed, but it was steady throughout my visit and it's clear that Avon loves its donuts and it loves its smalltown gathering spaces.

There was a line of people waiting patiently to select their donuts when we walked in. There were many cases filled with fresh donuts, fritters, danish, turnovers and more. Two clerk were assisting customers, most of whom were buying several dozen donuts. I got a glazed donut and my husband got an apple fritter. The fritter was bigger than his head. My glazed donut was a cake donut. It was light with a perfect glaze. The apple fritter was like a coffee cake with lots of apples and a glazed topping. He shared the fritter with our granddaughters. There was plenty to go around. The cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have daily meal specials. The lady in line ahead of us said the pork tenderloin is the best in town. Pork tenderloin is only served Monday-Thursday. We'll have to come back. They have about 20 tables for eat-in dining. There is a unisex restroom. Stop #4 of the donut trail will require a return visit.

However, I was feeling a bit nostalgic during this past weekend's trip to Putnam County and decided to stop and really check this retail strip out. I spied The Fudge kettle and knew I had to stop. The Fudge Kettle was started in 2020 - what a time to start a new business, eh? Despite the challenges, it thrived in a different location before locating to this spot in 2023. This is a former Jack's Donuts and it reportedly offered The Fudge Kettle about twice the size of its previous spot along with a variety of other perks. In case the name isn't obvious, The Fudge Kettle specializes in candy, fudge, local crafts, and a variety of other products. Despite being an older strip center, accessibility is pretty strong here with ample parking and curb cuts. The double-sided glass doors are pretty manageable. I found the interior to be nicely designed. I'm a fan of fudge and definitely had to try the fudge while here. Absolutely a delight. You can also get chocolates, freeze-dried candies, and some national brands like Pez, Necco Wafers, Buns, Boston Baked Beans, Rock Candy, Candy Cigarettes (Yes, I'm old enough to also remember when candy cigarettes were considered cool), and more. Local crafts include candles, keychains, t-shirts, wreaths and more. I'm a huge candle fan and I definitely prefer supporting local. So, this is a great find. I will note that new owners took over - I believe in 2023. It seems like there's some shifting going on and the website indicates that new products are coming soon. However, I liked what I saw here and the employee I dealt with was friendly and helpful. I found the prices to be fair, the quality to be amazing, and this just feels like a really welcoming spot. This shopping strip is a little more off the road than most. You really have to look to see The Fudge Kettle, however, it's definitely worth looking for and making a quick stop. Will I return? Absolutely.
