I had been in NJ for a long weekend and hadn't had a single bagel. On my last day, my last stop was Jack's because I needed a real bagel. I got an Egg Everything Bagel with butter. It was perfectly toasted and drenched in butter. Delicious. The owner or proprietor was friendly (Jersey friendly, not fake friendly.) Jack's bread is without a doubt the best bread on the island. Nice crust, soft and dense center - homemade. It does not get better than this. When you walk into the deli there is a putrid smell that overtakes the whole room. The sandwich was okay but the bacon was undercooked and super fatty. The workers were not very nice. Recently came in over a week long trip while renting a house in LBI and had a good to great experience each time we stopped in. The man at the counter was very pleasant when we stopped in for coffee in the morning and chatted us up while we made our cups our way. He also explained what bagels/muffins they had and seemed genuinely happy we stopped in. Since we were only staying a block away, this was a no-brainer for our morning cup o' jo routine. read more

We were staying in a beach house close to this spot so decided to try it out. I ordered a toasted sesame bagel with scallion cream cheese. (Note: if you pay with cash, it's cheaper). I also got an iced coffee. They have ample seating while you wait for your food. The bagel was nicely toasted and the cream cheese was good. I wouldn't get coffee again though. read more

I would give zero star but then I needed to put 1 star in order to write this review. First, zero star for not allowing paid customers to use the restroom . The guy (I guess the owner) was a super grumpy guy. I just paid him $50 for lunch and he would not let me use the restroom! He kept it locked. I had to hold until I got to a rest stop 1h later. Total jerk! I don't like spending my hard earned money supporting a business owned by jerks. Second, zero star for charging $17 roasted veggie wrap with chicken that was inedible because the wrap was totally mushed in the balsamic sauce. I was hoping to eat it in the car while driving home but ended up throwing away the wrap, wasted $17 and starved on my drive home. Horrendous service. I order 1 sandwich and a drink and I'm told it's $26, I kindly ask to be explained how my total is $26. I'm then told to relax and calm down when I couldn't be more calm just asking how my total became so high. I'm then told that everyone makes mistakes and I should be more mindful to the cashier since she misunderstood me and my total should be $16. I don't think you should go around telling customers to relax and calm down when all they're doing is politely asking why their total owed is what it is..... very strange, don't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I was working on LBI, stopped at Jacks NYC Bagels, walked in to place an order, there was a gentleman with gray hair sitting at a table, and a girl standing behind the counter watching tv, the gentlemen looked at her motioned to her, pointing to me. The girl turned looked at me, then turned back and continued watching tv. I think if he was the owner he would have gotten up and said something to her. He just kind of shook his head. These people need to go back to customer service school. They are so RUDE. I thought it might have been just a bad day but the three times we were in there it was each time. First they complained about toasting the bagel stating it sets off the smoke alarm and refused to toast it the second day. The third day the counter man was so Rude and made me feel like an idiot for asking for a bagel! Just a bagel! Nothing else, no toasted No sandwich! Then, the menu said they had gluten free bagels and when I asked for one he told me " They don't make them anymore"!!! What a load of crap!!! They are called Bagelino and come prepackaged in a bag! 2 plain bagels and a container of Philly cream cheese for $10!! Oh, I guess I should be honored that He told me to have a nice day! The Scrooge that I'm guessing runs the place is extremely unprofessional and rude. Placed an order for subs with extra pickles and chicken fingers with bbq sauce and they forgot them both and gave us attitude when we went back to get them. I feel bad for the younger staff that works there as it's apparent they are treated just as poorly as the customers that have the misfortune of dealing with this grump. The sandwiches were "sub" par at best and the way me and my family were treated there after the business made a mistake made it clear they don't deserve our business. Jack, I used to dream about being a teacher or an astronaut or a doctor but I've decided my new passion in life is to dissuade any potential customers from ever entering your deli. Gave us the wrong order, called to ask if we could bring it back, then was berated by the owner, and denied any sort of refund or exchange. Told me he couldn't help me because I had left with the sandwich. HUH??? Who would ever unravel their sandwich and open it in the store to check before leaving. This was my first visit to LBI and Jack's. I agree with others' reviews about the store owner. He was rude and unhelpful, which didn't make sense considering our party of 12 spent at least $25 per person for lousy sandwiches and lousy service. Preparation took anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes wait so the entire party ate their sandwiches ate different times which made our time together interesting. The owner never acknowledged the delays probably because he was too full of himself. Too bad the quality of their food doesn't match his ego! My sandwich arrived last, a 30 minute wait, and consisted of a chicken cheesesteak on a roll that could've seconded for a saturated sponge. Don't bother with this place unless you want to overpay for below average food. There are plenty of other better places in the same vicinity. read more

I've been coming to LBI for over 20 years and have tried all the other bagel shops in and near beach haven. These are the best bagels on the Southern End of the island! The bagels have the right proportion of chewy crust and tender inside. They are hand rolled, which you can see in the texture. The toppings are generous and they have a lovely selection of different bagels. If you miss good bagels on vacation, you must come here. read more
