I always love marking a brewery off of my "to try" list. But as the craft brewing industry…read morecontinues to shrink that factor is also contributing to my shrinking brewery list. But it feels much more satisfying, rewarding and accomplishing as it obviously would by trying a beer from a brewery that I have been wanting to try... which leads us to one of my latest brewery experiences which is Silver Falls Brewery. Steve and I had one beer from this brewery and we liked it pretty well. We got the Oregon Sunshine Hazy IPA which was a better IPA drinking session than on previous occasions. In short it was a nice, refreshing one that hit the spot nicely. The elements in the flavors to look for are citrus, a juicy quality and a hoppiness presence. This IPA despite being a hazy also was bright in flavor as well as hue. A very refreshing IPA and I am so very glad I got to try a beer from Silver Falls Brewery!

For example, there aren't many places in Silverton where diners can order étouffée, gumbo or jambalaya. Well, look no further as one of SFB's "bowl" dishes rotates between these three Cajun favorites. In addition, the menu also offers a number of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options for guests looking for something to suit their dietary needs. What I love most about Silver Falls Brewery is the many seating options. The restuarant has balcony seating, as well as an outdoor courtyard with a fair number of tables. In addition, the interior dining room has several large family-style tables that can accomodate large groups. This establishment does a fair amount of business during the spring and summer months when tourist activity is heavy, yet they somehow manage to swiftly seat, serve, and care for guests without compromising on service. The drinks are great, service comes with a smile, and I'm here for supporting local businesses that always shine brightly.

I saw a post on our town's community page from the restaurant asking for patron's to come in and…read moreenjoy their food and that they'd recently only had 2 customers come in. With 4.6 stars/reviews, we were excited to try it out and support a local businesses, so we gathered up our family and headed there for dinner. There were 6 in our party (3 adults, 3 kids). Unfortunately, our experience was one for the books, and not in a good way. Let's get straight to it. SERVICE: Both the person who answered the phone and the person who greeted us when we walked in were very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, they told us that it was their last day and that they were moving to Portland, so she was training a new person. The new person who took our order didn't know much about the menu items, but since we knew that she was in training, we asked for help and she got someone who could answer our questions about gluten free options and pasta sauce options. We waited a a good 15 minutes or so for ginger ale and 2 cokes. We waited easily over 50 minutes for our food. MENU: The menu is very limited, meaning there are not many options to choose from. They didn't have any juice or any "kids menu" items to choose from. Limited appetizers. FOOD: Probably the worst food I've ever had at a sit down restaurant in Monmouth/Independence. We ordered few things to eat family style since it was our first time and we wanted to try a few items. Every pasta dish was undercooked and flavorless. Every single thing we ordered tasted either old, microwaved or way too salty. Nothing looked or tasted fresh BESIDES the salad, which took longer to get than the actual food. I only gave one star for the nice person who greeted us and kept checking on us throughout the long wait. Otherwise, I'd give zero stars. It was a hefty price to pay for really BAD food. It was so bad that we went to get something else for dinner after we left there. I'm not sure if we went on an off day, or if we ordered some items that aren't usually made, but I was surprised by the quality of food, especially with such good ratings. Will not be returning.

We walked in, there were only two other parties dining there on a Wednesday evening, our party of five were seated right away and provided with water and menus. On this evening the menu was slanted towards Louisiana cuisine and we took advantage as we rarely have the opportunity to enjoy cajun cuisine. The Great: Lots of great local brews and wines. My wife enjoyed a wine flight all featuring wines made in the area. I enjoyed a couple local brews that were excellent. I ordered the Jambalaya while the wife went with a Charcuterie Plate, both dishes were solid. Finished off dinner with an order of beignets for a sweet ending. The Good: Service was solid, food did take a while as they only had one person in the kitchen preparing the food. We took the opportunity to relax after a long day of travel and enjoy our libations. The Okay: Some of the items featured on the online menu was not available but our little group all found suitable menu replacements with no complaints. Overall: Great spot, fun decor, nice staff, and convenient location to our AirBnb made this a great first night in town!

Beautiful building and ambiance too! We ordered "The Choker" chicken sandwich, which is excellent. The other item we ordered was the Barbacoa Nachos. It was excellent beyond words! I ordered their smoked wings, naked without any sauce and asked for blue cheese dressing to dip my naked wings in. The server brought me 5 wings but for the price of $13 they couldn't even put a little garnish on the plate like maybe a of couple of carrot sticks and a couple of celery sticks. I'm sure I've eaten 1 million pinfeathers in my lifetime while ordering wings but second wing in there was a giant pin feather on the wing. At that point I lost my appetite. The smoked wings were very tough and chewy. I don't know if that's because they were pre-frozen or possibly frozen after they were smoked and thawed. I just did not feel that the wings were fresh.. Next time I'm in Monroe, I will try another menu item as the wings are a hard pass for me.

Both servers were SO friendly and did such a good job despite being understaffed. Our server had a purple shirt who had the most amazing attitude and was so friendly! The food was great! The small Caesar salad could've easily passed for a large. Well worth the $9. Nice homade croutons and I loved the big chunks of Parmesan. The spinach artichoke dip was SO good!! Bread was toasted perfectly. However some of the Chips were so salty and inedible The wildcat burger was perfectly spicy, not too much spice at all! So well balanced. Just what we needed. Service was swift and kind; however, we had to wait about 30-40 min for our food. HOWEVER, the Reuben sandwich was absolutely worth the wait--plentiful, moist, and savory. I decided to sub a salad for the fries, which may have been a mistake. The salad had a lot of brown and yellow lettuce leaves. Management should really check the quality of produce before serving it to customers. The salad was large as well, but the brown lettuce threw me off. So, skip the salad and get the fries or sweet potato fries.

That turned out to be a great decision. The place was busy, but we were greeted right away with genuine enthusiasm and told the wait would be about five minutes--which was spot on. Once seated, we ordered a couple of specials: the battered coho with chips and the albacore tuna and chips. Both were outstanding. The batter was light and crisp with just the right crunch, and the fish inside was flaky, moist, and full of flavor. We usually end up taking some home, but not this time--we cleaned our plates. The two gentlemen working the front were clearly hustling, yet still managed to be friendly, attentive, and engaging throughout. If six stars were an option, we'd give them. She ordered the salmon and chips with clam chowder, and I got the prawns and chips with clam chowder. The clam chowder was honestly really good -- flavorful, not overly thick, and packed with a good amount of clams. Definitely tasted much better than canned chowder considering this was my first time actually having it not in a can. The prawns and chips were also solid. The prawns weren't heavily battered, and the fries were crispy on the outside while still soft inside. Portions for both the chowder and entrées felt generous for the price. Service was friendly and quick. We were seated within about 5 minutes, had a little time to look over the menu, and our server came by shortly after. He gave a great recommendation for my friend's meal as well. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Saturday evening, but we got there right before the bigger dinner rush. Indoor seating filled up quickly, while the outdoor area was quieter because of the wind. Overall, it was a pleasant stop with tasty food, quick service, and a good variety of options, including drinks.
