This place is such a relief in the Hamptons -- unpretentious, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere -- although the crowds and prices are very much in fitting with the locale. The pastries are delicious, especially the apple cider donuts (vegan, baked and organic with raw coconut sugar, but so tasty I can't imagine they're as healthy as they seem.) Also breakfast sandwiches, great bagels, and pressed juices. Same vibe as their West Village location, if slightly beachier. Today I decided to return to jacks since I have not stopped by in a while and I decided to buy a drink that they advertised outside, the teddy boy. The cute barista girl explained it to me as a "shot with sugar and cream shaken over ice, it's so simple yet super delicious" and she was totally right. Same barista chick who made my cappuccino the last time and this time I got her name. Next time ask for the friendliest barista, Jenifer, to make your drink! Otherwise, I order 3 pounds per month and it is delivered to me from its Greenwich Village location. They serve a drink called the Teddy and it is awesome. Wow, I'm floored... I'm out working in the Hamptons and popped into Jack's to grab a coffee. I've never been to this location before. I placed my order and then handed them my personal mug and the manager said that they don't allow for personal containers in the summer bc it slows down their service. He said that this is their busiest location and they write the orders on the paper cups. I responded that it's possible to write on personal mugs as well. He disregarded me and I was given my drink in a disposable cup. It completely shocks me that a business entity thriving on the tourism traffic brought by the beauty of the water that surrounds them can't at least take a small pause to use a personal mug when a customer has one. That's just greedy. Jack, you need to learn to practice some social responsibility. read more

Spent a lonely, weary May and June here in East Hampton until Jack's arrived. For months, I continually sampled the local's recommendations for coffee, driving as far as Montauk and Southampton only to meet disappointment at every pour. The location charmed me at first glimpse of the hand-painted sign, displaying an iconic ceramic cup and arrow pointed toward their porch. The effusively friendly staff warmed the deliberately modest decor, as fitting for a mid-century fishing outpost as it is to house the best cup of coffee across a 30 mile radius. The stir-brew is consistently strong, dark, and smooth thanks to Jack's patented process, which the staff is happy to explain. Be certain to try the Rosie's toll-house cookies, a secret family recipe. Favorites: Happy Jack, Xtra Big (20oz.) Stir-Brew Coffee, Farmer Dan (each drink comes with a story should you ask!) Would love to see more variety in baked goods (mostly organic and vegan.) Am anxious for when they move into their new space, one building down in Amagansett Square. read more

the oatmeal is regular rolled oats! not the steel cut . definitely not the 4 grains. and then the staff lies. why? very dissapointing . used to be a good place to go for the best oatmeal ever. not anymore ! i used to make a special trip from sag harbor , but never again. even if you get your oatmeal straight, the new staff does not give the service your old staff did either. so sad! there is better coffee other places too. read more

We purchased several items from the shop, and then, upon our three year old daughter breaking down because she needed to use the restroom, asked if we could use the restroom. The staff declined saying it was against policy and that they have video cameras watching. So basically the owner and manager are cruel and lack understanding. What a horrendous policy. Do not go here. They are completely taking advantage of the people who live locally and all the people that visit. Five dollars for one scoop of ice cream in a cup. $12 for a bottled drink that cost six dollars a few shops over. The guy I ordered with sounded somewhat with it when, I asked for cheese and ham no problem....jumped in the car, cruising to Montauk, hungry as a bear, WTF,? The few times I've been here, the coffee was excellent. Very similar to Jack's in Manhattan. Third wave coffee. Today I am very disappointed in the boiling hot cortado with bubbly foam on the top. Nothing like I was hoping for on my first time out riding this spring. I am sure that this is not the norm and the folks working here are very nice so... i'll give it another shot. read more

I walked into Jack's and was greeted by the aroma of coffee and the beautiful smile from a Barista named Olivia. The coffee was smooth and rich tasting, Olivia was friendly and warm. (very pretty as well) She made my experience there very pleasant. The ambience is just delicious!!!I love it there! I will be frequenting Jack's and recomending it to all. Stopped by for a coffee with the wife on the way East. After ordering coffee and a snack for both we saw woman exit the rest room. My wife tried the door after the woman exited the bathroom but it was locked. She asked for the key and the woman gave her a dirty look. The guy behind the counter told my wife that there isn't any bathrooms and to use the one at the gas station. Really this is slow week day and the place was empty but a paying customer has to use the gas station. Wish I knew that before we spent money here. We will know better next time. read more

Wow. Never coming back. Ordered egg sandwich and it looked worse than a McDonald's breakfast sandwich. Totally dry toast , tiny microwaved egg and mini piece of ham that looked like dog food. I was disgusted. Returned it to the staff and got a croissant instead. Also not worth eating and all this for 10$. Luckily I got my money back. Good iced coffee but at almost $5.00 for a small iced coffee, it's twice the price of Starbucks. They also don't offer lemon for their teas and iced teas, have no toilet for patrons and should offer a frequent flyer program. I'm local and want to support them but the prices are insane. read more

Would have liked to wash my hands, but the bathroom is for employees only, at least that is what I was told. I totally get that local and organic usually means more expensive than chain places like Starbucks. I am completely fine paying extra in order to help local businesses and drink my coffee without worries. The first time I went there I got a regular large soy latte for about $5. It was nice and strong albeit a tiny bit bitter. The barista showed off his foam art skills which was nice too. While waiting for it I noticed they also had sandwiches (I had forgotten my lunch) so I ordered a turkey sandwich. For $10 I pictured a decent sandwich with at least lettuce and maybe some sort of dressing. After 10 minutes I was handed a tiny baguette with two slices of turkey and a few squares of cheddar and nothing else on it. I was actually shocked that anyone could seriously prepare that and hand it over to a customer in a completely serious manner. I only ate it because I was starving. For such a simple thing, It shouldn't have taken 10 minutes since they were perfectly staffed and it wasn't crowded. I don't know if the turkey and the cheese were organic or not, but either way, it certainly was NOT worth $10. While I understand a coffee place's main focus is on the coffee, I also think that if you're going to offer food, it should be just as good as the coffee. I think its a good place for coffee but not worth the money for anything else. read more
