One star for the actual coffee-when made correctly it's very good. One for the cute ambience. I have been there twice this week and both times I have been very clear, friendly and polite giving my order and both times the coffee has had to be remade with open hostility from the staff. I have also been two times this week to the other location in Sag Harbor where my coffee has been made perfectly and the staff Vito and Deion are lovely. So it's definitely a staff problem in Amagansett-hope Jack sees this! Time for a new crew! read more

I discovered this coffee brewery a few years ago on a Sunday drive to the Hamptons. The coffee in this store is organic. This morning, for the first-time, I ordered the ice Saffron Latte, which is made from fresh saffron. What a clever way to use the spice, which is mostly used for yellow rice. I also purchased some bottled, Green Vitality vegetable juice; and some Green Fermented Seed Crisps, made by Moon Juice. Total price for the three: $26. Pricey, but I expected that for a coffeehouse in Amagansett. There are baked goods available as well. However, I find them mediocre compared to some other Hampton bakeries, such as Levain and Tate's Bake Shop. Jack's also has a rewards program and an Instagram page. Parking is plentiful on the street. The coffeehouse may be expensive, but it is worth giving a try. read more

Not even a hint of its former self. Staff varies between apathetic, indifferent, and in some instances plain rude. The made to order biscuit sandwiches, once their staple, are no more, and instead you get premade mediocre egg sandwiches from under a heat lamp. Coffee still decent, but not what it was. read more

My friend turned me on to this place and the coffee is really good but its a shame because the service is beyond awful. I keep giving it another shot but its the same every time. I did pick up and arrive 30 minutes later and its still not ready. Management if you're ready this please get your store together. Stopped in real quick for an iced latte. Loved that it was organic/ fair trade and they had almond and oat milk offered. I also picked up a packaged paleo chocolate chip cookie and am excited to try that! A bit pricey (more than $11 for both) but I supposed that's to be expected for the location and presumable quality. The girl taking my order did some thing I hate where they don't greet you at all, they just stare at you until you guess that they are ready to take your order (seriously HATE that). So a bit of customer service would be nice. But otherwise a nice stop. read more

Been coming here for years. all summer, every time I have come in it's been very hot in the store and the A/C doesn't work efficiently. It's always uncomfortable waiting on the lines. At least it would be helpful if they would open up some doors or put on a fan. I have mentioned this a few times and seen other people mention this in the store and it doesn't seem to make a difference to the staff. Also line is always long so to get a cup of drip coffee you have to stand in a long line in a hot/stuffy store. read more

I trashed the Village Jack's Stir Brew, I said their coffee tasted like mud. But here I am, drinking the product that I publicly scorned. Actually, it wasn't that bad. Maybe its the Long Island water. Long Island is locked down by evil corporate empires, Cablevison, Newsday and Starbucks so its refreshing to see a privately owned business out east. Being out east is great during the summer months, its tough to keep a steady stream of customers during the winter months. I walk in and its a nice looking and open store. I spent a good amount of time in Amagansett for work, and I keep seeing this company's logo everywhere, so I figured I would give it a try since I am a big coffee fan. As you enter the cafe, The environment is chill and the aesthetic is very Hamptons-ish. I ordered a large iced mocha, As well as two Apple cider donuts if I total came out to $15; YIKES. Donuts were OK; I've had better. I had waited about a good 3 to 5 minutes for my drink because the entire staff forgot my order (while i was the only customer in the place) while they were talking amongst each other. Got my drink, but there was 90% ice. I finish the drink before I even got to my car. Moving forward, I'll go somewhere else and let everyone from the city fall for this act ‍ read more

We wandered in here looking for some coffee and a small bite to eat (which we received)... however we were also met with some unexpected attitude by the employees. There seemed to be too many cooks in the kitchen and the one lady eating behind the counter barked at me when I asked where there was a restroom. Then when I asked another employee where there was a public restroom the same lady who barked at me before told her that she already told me there was no restroom. Anywho! They ran out of butter (which cost an extra $1.25) and did not give a substitute. Also, they gave us an everything bagel instead of a plain bagel. So we got jipped out of $1.25 and got yelled at for asking where the restroom was. Not a friendly place but the coffee was decent... so that's why they get a 2 star. Maybe get some employee training or people who know how to deal with customers politely. read more

Very cute place. I love this faux rustic vibe that seems to be all over the Hamptons. I think the place itself exudes high quality due to its decor with small organic brand name products on the shelves and seasonal coffee drinks. I tried the honey cinnamon latte and the maple latte. Both were good. Surprisingly not sweet but very fragrant. There were also a bunch of pastries that look good. Prices are on the higher end. You will pay $5 or over for your specialty lattes. read more

Their coffee was good... oh okay... just OKAY... it didn't blow my mind away... still a big fan Anthony's Coffee in Maui and of course Ritual in SF... so for me, it was just okay but apparently per the area standards, this was the best. Jack's Stir Brew Coffee - Always Happy at Jacks - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Amagansett, New York

I really want to like Jack's Stir Brew, their focus on organic, shade-grown coffee and vegan pastries is laudable. Went to Jack's Stir Brew on a Sunday Morning in August. The demographic composition of the patrons didn't surprise, it was expected, we jive with coffee snobs, are accustomed to paying $5 for a coffee and don't flinch at the worst of self-centered Hamptons behavior. We're also sympathetic to the difficulty of finding reliable, experienced summer employees on eastern Lung Guyland. The coffee was of the quality that we'd be happy to find in the coffee desert on the continent, which is to say bad but not dump it in the street bad. The coffee was weak and lacked a robust oil profile or the beautiful smell of a perfectly made cup. I suspect the coffee was not freshly roasted or freshly ground. We also bought pastries which we didn't realize we're vegan, they were ignored after a taste in favor of packaged pretzels. We bought two coffee's and ten pastries -- it cost $50ish, would've been a fair price if the coffee and pastries were yummy. The "about us" section of Jack's website references Porto Rico Coffee Company as one of Jack's inspirations. Jack's Amagansett employees would benefit from a trip to that venerable shop to learn more about coffee. read more

Updating my review to upgrade the rating to 4 stars based on a consistently boss experience with their food items. I got the granola which was so good I wanted to cry, and a delicious egg sandwich. The granola is expensive, not comparatively to their other items but for a typical 'cereal' item at first glance. HOWEVER, after one bite, the realization I had was that this granola is like the entire crop of the fertile crescent in a bowl (nuts, seeds, oats, dried fruits). Thick, crunchy, not-to-sweet, and filling. Okay, maybe I embellished, but for real, its worth the added star. This was a really bad location compared to the city. First off, it's super stuffy once you go inside and combined with the heat of summer, it was not a pleasant environment to be in. There were only 3 workers there so there was already a bit of a wait during the weekend. I had a question about the pre packaged beans and the people there had no idea and just mumbled an answer back that wasn't even clear. Ordered an oat milk latte and the girl filled the cup with basically all milk and barely any coffee. Really disappointing service and coffee quality. read more

Jack's was the only coffee shop open (off season) and Im thrilled to say the morning barista made me the best Oat Latte I've had on the east end!! All around, the service was great. This is my 3rd summer in the Hamptons. Come here everyday when we are in the Hamptons, because there is no other close coffee shop rather than Starbucks. Consistency is not there, everyday mediocre or bad. Too much milk one day, not enough next day. Too much ice one day. Baked pastries also, no consistency, and I think they use a day old pastries until they sold out them in the morning for muffins, scones, donuts, only croissants seems fresh every day. For 1 pastries and 1 espresso drink, everyday around $10, and I wish it's at least fresh and the same every time. They don't care, they sell anyway. read more

Funny thing though--I don't pay $9 for a soy latte and vegan donut at Starbucks, and when I ask to use the bathroom they don't tell me to use the gas station down the street. Friends, sometimes there's a reason that corporate chains like Starbucks win. I was visiting and very excited to find some vegan treats for myself. The staff was annoyed at me for not knowing ahead of time what I wanted and completed my coffee without sugar because they didn't want to wait for me to choose a flavor so they could take someone else. I only had two people behind me during a slow afternoon and I was staying somewhere with no service so I didn't know what the menu was like. I'm so disappointed at the attitude I got because I'm always friendly with everyone. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth for this chain. Coffee is good however made it a point to call today while driving to the Hamptons. The person said they were closing at 8:00 get here at 7:20 and they were CLOSED! That is ghetto get together Jack. If didn't call no problem but to make the effort to call and find them closed is unacceptable.. Note this was on 7/2/2012 however it really bothered me and then going back out there in early April was astonished they didn't have a public restroom. This is a food establishment that sells a liquid they should respect their customers and offer a bathroom to them. read more
