It's a great alternative to all the fried, fast food type joints that come a dime a dozen when we're traveling through. You're definitely getting what you paid for at this place. The salads are loaded with all the toppings & they have a wide variety of options on their menu. If you don't like what's on the menu, you can build your own salad & sometimes it comes out cheaper that way. Personally, I really like that option but because it was my first time here, I went with the Achiote chicken bowl just to see what this place has to offer. Being a creature of habit, I'll have a hard time ordering anything else now that I know it's super delicious. But... My daughter and I decided to stop here and order food to go. They asked my name for the order which I provided. When placing my order I asked for urban fries and was even asked to repeat that item. We were given a table number and sat down. I noticed several people who came after us received their food so I went to the counter to ask how much longer. The girl couldn't locate my ticket but noticed my order sitting with all the to go orders which had been there at least 10 mins. I got it without sauce so I can't speak to the chimichurri quality, but the ciabatta roll was super soft & fresh. Their food is always good however I go to the one in Natomas turkey mashed potatoes to die for - nice pieces of turkey not dry mashed potatoes with or without gravy. Excellent their chicken Caesar salad is very as large and tasty, I always get the ranch dressing - my sister loves their salmon salad with salmon on it. Jack's is such a staple to me I didn't even have it on my Yelp list of restaurants for when I can't think of where to eat. The thing about a good salad is that the ingredients have to be fresh. Especially the lettuce, even a leaf wilted can sour one's day. Jack's has the best at a reasonable price. I think it's due to the volume they serve versus other restaurants. I appreciate the variety and the ability to customize my order. The ladies at the pickup area are so pleasant and attentive. I suppose you familiarize yourself when you order takeout 2-3 times per week. It's ready so quickly when ordering online. Sometimes I'm in transit and my phone defaults to another location, so it's my fault, and they find a way to cancel the erroneous order and make me a new one on the spot without hassle. I always tip. We used to have a Jack's Urban Eats where I lived and then suddenly they got rid of it and it was the saddest moment of my life because I LOVED the food. When I found out there was one in Sac when I was visiting I knew I had to come visit immediately. The workers were very friendly. Quick and pleased service. I ordered the Tri-Tip sandwich (which is what I always used to order) and it definitely tasted just as good. I forgot how sweet and tangy the sauce was but it definitely makes the sandwich. I just wish there was more sauce since it felt a little dry. It also had fried onions on it which was so yummy. It added a nice crunch. The fries were also amazing. But of course I had to get some ranch on the side because for some reason they always had the best ranch. If you had to get one thing here I would definitely recommend this sandwich! Ordered Cajun chicken sandwich with mac n cheese , showed up to pick up the order. Drove all the way home and opened the bag for them to give me the wrong meal I ordered. I had to drive back and return the food and wait for a whole new meal to be cooked. It's not touristy, but it also doesn't feel local. The food is great and prices aren't insane. I go here for lunch and the food never disappoints. The fries are great and so are the burgers! The service is good. They get really busy, but always happy to help. If you're a local, come on by! We were in midtown Sac on a super hot day, so we decided to stop at Jack's for a healthy lunch. I love a build your own salad spot! A much more sanitary replacement for a salad bar. I went for a mixed greens build your own salad. Decent portion size and I appreciated getting to choose six toppings. I also ordered a child's meal for my toddlers and they enjoyed the shaved turkey, super moist and tasty. While of course we wanted to stick with healthy, who can resist fires! Fries were nicely crisp and good portion sizes. Not the best ever, but they made a nice pairing with our healthy salads lol. They did have seasoned fries that looked super good, and next time I would give those a try. My 3 year old spilled his water and the staff were very understanding and helped us right away. Now that new to the chain and this location has been my lunch option three times since I moved to the area last July. My experiences have been positive for on time prepared orders as well as good food. This week, I order Lemon Thyme Chicken for the third time. Yummy. The meat is a good portion and decently juicy. The seasoning is not overpowering but not too weak. The mashed potatoes were a bigger portion than I was expecting. The newly tried cheesy broccoli were good. I feared soggy over cooked vegetables as some restaurants have too often. The packaging of the meal to go worked in the plastic container. I appreciated being asked if I wanted a bag or not as more often than not, I barely use them and feel badly how much waste take out is creating. It is understood as take out is most used option while we are in covid times. But it is still hard after years of recycled training. read more

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but last night I went in for a "Build Your Own Salad" they had plenty of items to choose from but after the salad was made & brought to my table I found it much less of a salad than it was when I used to frequent this place. They must be under a new owner. The "salad" was 95% lettuce, 2% avocado (which costs an extra $2) and the remaining 3% of the salad was a few chunks of cucumber maybe a tablespoon of mixed nuts, very few scraps of carrot, ... It was not the robust & nutritious salad I have grown accustom to. NEVER AGAIN! read more

Every time we get this place for delivery, there's a problem with our food. It's as if they prepare our order any old way because we aren't there to see them make it. Salad missing ingredients, skimming on ingredients, super rare steak, super dry chicken... They don't follow directions on the order when we ask for utensils or wanting salad dressing mixed in. I love Jack's. But EVERY TIME I get it through a delivery service, it's horrible. So I guess in conclusion, only come here if you're able to walk in and watch them make your food. read more

Man. Hate to see places go this far downhill. Trust me when I say give a lot of breaks to places during these times of illness l, staffing and supply shortage. We just drove back from a camping trip, and descended into a 100 degree day. We all agreed that a nice Jacks dinner with veggies would hit the spot. We ordered online and my husband went to pick it up. Let me rephrase that... my exhausted, sweating, husband, went to pick it up. The only reason was he was excited for his tri tip and veggies. Food and husband got home, overall a 30 minute drive. Unpacking his food I noticed something moving under the plastic lid. A large, fat, angry, fly. Claiming his tri tip dinner, and really, his happiness. I called Jacks and they credited the dinner and put our name down for another credit, which was nice and appreciated. Didn't take away from the fact that he now had to venture back out for his own dinner. While he was dealing with that my daughter and I started to eat. My salad was so filled with old, rotten, lettuce, I barely ate it. After picking it out I just felt gross, maybe the fly helped with that. When you see the pictures, that is not artisanal lettuce.
