I was craving a burger in the area so I decided to go to Jackson Hole. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I wanted a classic burger so I got the New York burger which has cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo. You'll be able to see the cook place a fresh patty (not frozen) onto the grill for each burger. The burger patty itself wasn't seasoned so salt was needed to be added. When we asked for the bill, we informed the waitress about the 15% off coupon from yelp. The waitress informed a man (assuming he is the manager) and he directed the issue to another man. After they had a discussion, he came back and told us that the coupon is only for the weekday and doesn't apply to Sunday because it's a weekend....Nowhere on the yelp site does it say the coupon can be activated on the weekday only... but whatever. We paid the bill without the 15%, but it is misleading to have the yelp coupon on the yelp app without any terms and conditions posted. It seems as if other people in the past have also had issues claiming their 15% off from reading past reviews. Now Jackson's Hole this Jackson's hole in particular holds a special place for me. It was the first time I had a Jackson's Hole Burger as a kid in this original location, and now as an adult because of my career as a correction officer and Jackson Hole's close proximity to Riker's Island it makes a perfect place for me and my Correction Officer buddies to meet up after an overtime shift and have a breakfast before we head home to finally sleep after a 16-18hr shift. Food is definitely high on the priority list besides sleep and a shower and you want that first meal that you're going to have in 16-18 hrs to be a good meal, so we all go to Jackson's Hole. Since our internal clocks are all out of whack a 8:30AM meal at Jackson's Hole could very well be traditional breakfast, steak and eggs, a burger, pasta or anything we feel like eating... the life of a C.O. I have had the burger for breakfast and threw a fried egg on that bad boy just to make myself think it was more breakfast like because it had an egg on it. The burgers are huge, juicy, thick and delicious, hard to find a better burger. as for a traditional diner breakfast which I know is one of my favorite things to have the eggs are always nice and fluffy and buttery with nice crispy thick bacon, and thick buttery toast, and for the first time the orange juice is a big seller for me, the ornage juice they have comes from this giant orange juice making machine where they throw the whole oranges in the machine and boom fresh squeezed OJ!! I was in town visiting and a friend recommended this diner. It was late and with many spots closed we decided to come here. They have a small lot, but we found parking pretty easily. The menu is deep like most diners. Tons of options, for all eaters. I was a bit taken back by the prices for some stuff. Especially if you got a burger and wanted to add fries. I never heard of there being a up charge to add fries. I landed on the mozzarella and sun dried tomato panini with fries I paid extra for. The food was hot and looked like it could be delicious. The sandwich lacked cheese and the sun dried tomatoes were a bit stiff. Not the best panini, but certainly not the worst. The fries were ok. I'd return if in the area to try something else, but it's really not a spot I'd make an effort to return to. read more

We have adored this place for over a decade now. This is the only coffee I look forward to if it isn't Starbucks, and the food never disappoints. The croissant sandwiches are the best. The only suggestion I have is that they offer a cheaper kids menu with less food. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad thing to give us so much food, but my 4 year old cannot eat 7 pancakes the size of her hand. Why not go to the greatest diner in the world if you can? Yes, it is here in the beloved Queens part of New York City. Yummy all day long.

It's a Queens institution and part of it was filmed in the movie The Goodfellas, oh you never saw Goodfellas? You should punch yourself in the face. I am kidding, but not really. Truth be told, this is the quintessential diner, it is the classic diner except for not being 24 hrs, what??? They close at midnight sun-thurs and 2am on fri-sat. The place has the look, feel, smell and vibe of a classic diner, diners are a dying art and this place is a great place to keep that tradition alive. The item that they are known for are their big ass burgers, they are humungous!!! I think they say they are 7ozs and it's basically a knife and fork job unless you don't mind getting messy. The diner is very close to LGA airport so stopping in for a classic NY experience before a flight would be a good idea, it's kinda in a weird location so a car might be the best option. There is public transportation but it's a little bit of a pain. The food: Baldouni Burger- topped with fried onions, cheese and sautéed mushrooms. This is my go to for the burgers. Even though the place is known for their hamburgers, I oddly enough prefer their turkey burgers over the reg burgers. There was something about the texture of the beef that I wasn't crazy about. The Baldouni aspect was great, their fried onions are excellent, they have so much flavor and are so perfectly cooked. The combo of cheese and mushrooms with the onions is such a perfect combo, that they do well. I recommend this. I am personally not a fan of steak fries so I would substitute onion rings or curly fries. I forgot if they have waffle but if they do, get that as well. Lol Blueberry pancakes- These had such a wonderful exterior crust, it was almost creme brulee like. They will ask you if you want the blueberries on the inside or out, I prefer on the inside. You can see the guy take out fresh blueberries out of the frig and put it inside the batter, no cheap shit blueberries here, oh no sir. I enjoyed the pancake but my only criticism would be the pancakes could use a bit more moisture. read more

Bigger is not necessarily better, at least here at Jackson Hole - a kitschy rail car diner throwing you back to those happy days of doo-wop, juke boxes, and poodle skirts. The monstrous 7 oz steam grilled patties are not that flavorful but with so many toppings and combinations offered, you're bound to find something that will satisfy your tastes for the day. There are so many choices that the menu is a bit overwhelming when you add in the typical diner breakfast, salad, and sandwich options that are offered as well. The story usually starts the same way. I'll be super starved for a burger and Jackson Hole comes to mind. It's a short drive and the answer to my beefy craving with their quick, friendly service and obese sized platters. The delicious free pickles come to the table and I have to stop myself from eating them all to save room for the behemoth burger that awaits me. When it arrives, I quickly dig in but not quick enough as the soft bun already starts to fall apart under the weight of the patty. I eat the rest of my burger with a knife and fork only to barely finish half. So I sit there with a half eaten plate - ashamed and defeated. Only to return months later and repeat the same ordeal. Jackson Hole is a neighborhood standby and will continue to please patrons as it has for the past 30 or so years. The staff here is great and the atmosphere fun and casual. The food is dependable and predictable just like the outcome of my story for when I return to face the giant burgers here again. read more

It has become a recent tradition to gorge ourselves (Me, Armin L. and some grad school friends), on a diner type joint of our choosing after running a half marathon. As Sunday was our NYRR Staten Island Half, I suggested when we get back to home to check out this Jackson Diner because whenever I pass it it is always full and so my natural assumption is that this place is on like Donkey Kong. I ordered the Western turkey burger with onion rings in place of french fries with sauteed mushrooms on top. It didn't disappoint although I feel like the portion of fries and onion rings on the side of the burger has gotten significantly smaller...making me less likely to share (read: I offered an onion ring to my friend and as I watched her eat it I realized with significant horror that she had taken the largest on on my plate) Armin ordered the chicken nacho dish because :gasp: he thinks there is too much meat in the burger (as if) And his came topped with lots of things but the guacamole he ordered on the side was the real treat..it wasn't too onion-y and tasted relatively fresh. Although the portions seemed to have gone down, I was still left with a sated feeling at the end of my meal but without the wanting to crawl into bed and hibernate until winter is over feeling. Ambiance was not the greatest due to the vast amount of Halloween decorations which had the audacity to shriek intermittently throughout our meal. Over the past year I've ordered from Jackson Hole between five and ten times and almost every single time I was disappointed. Everyone raves about their burgers. They're a diner so naturally that's what I've ordered the most, and I have to say their burgers are completely overrated. The meat they use for their burgers taste like bland greasy meat. The good thing about their burgers are that they are huge. There's enough meat protruding from the bun to make another burger. I can honestly say it's one of the biggest burgers I've ever seen but I just didn't enjoy it. I've also had issues with missing items ordered, and food arriving cold. This diner has amazing attention to detail- from the pristinely preserved shiny diner-car details, to the table-top mini jukeboxes, to the unlimited fresh pickles. And when I say unlimited, I really mean it. Last time we were there, I ate 5 bowls of the mini-pickles. I don't know how they make them, but I'm addicted to them like a drug. Everyone seems to go on about the wonder of their burgers. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they're great. They do look juicy, flavorful, and large. As a vegetarian, I can't honestly speak about the meat burgers. I can tell you that they do make a mean homemade veggie burger. They also have some of the best pancakes I've ever eaten. This place is very diner-esque, right down to the old-school Coke bottles on top of the cooler. Portions were huge and food was good and cheap. This spot is only easy to get to if you have a car with a "park wherever" strategy. Although a burger was tempting, it was too early in the morning for that. Decided on the Rustler Sandwich ($14): a giant meaty steak with a ridiculous amount of cheese, thick cut toast and some tomatoes/onions.pickles. There goes having a lighter breakfast - it was as big if not bigger than their burgers. Meat is cooked well and flavorful. Some of the cheese didn't melt, so peeled that away, but the rest was more than enough. Finished most of it and was solidly full for the next 4-5 hours. Also got coffee (with free refills) - a satisfying batch. Server is incredibly nice and quick to get our order. In and out of the place fairly fast despite being relatively packed. This place is a little out of the way, off the beaten path, however you want to put it. It's not super convenient to walk to but we did it anyway. All I have to say is that 1) the burgers are HUGE. 2) It's a tad pricey to customize or add certain things and gets pretty confusing. 3) The staff is super helpful and understanding about how overwhelming the burger menu is. 4) The burgers are probably just a little too much for most people, BUT 5) you won't have to eat another meal that day. Overall, the vibe is cool, small town diner dropped on the side of the busy Astoria Blvd. They also have outdoor seating which was nice but inside is where the real old-school feel is at.
