They communicate clearly what they are doing at all times and make the eye exam an easy process. My youngest child in glasses was only 4 when he began treatment and with his special needs with adhd and his anxiety they worked well with him. Over the years we have seen Dr German for continued care and he is patient and very calm in his practice. The once 4 year old is now 15 and we will continue care as long as our eyes need it. One of my children needed to see a retina specialist and the office worked with us to get her scheduled at that office. With insurance changes we have gone sporadically to other optometrists and ophthalmologists but the care we received elsewhere just doesn't compare to lakeshore. In my many visits, I have seen several of the doctors and have been pleased with all of them, I find them to be knowledgeable, thorough, friendly, and not pushy about upselling for services that I do not need. I always get a contact lens exam since I don't ever wear glasses and have always been pleased with the experience. They keep good records so I don't have to remember the last time I visited--they already know! In two years, when it's time for my next exam, I will be back to Grafton Eye Center.

I had expressed interest on cosmetic contacts and instead of jumping in and making me pay through the nose since they won't be covered by insurance (cosmetic) he said he'd contact a couple of the companies he deals with to get pricing for me before hand. Since it was the end of the year I had to get my exam in to take advantage before the next year, but then with my plan I do not think I would have saved too much so I held off on the glasses until later. Their availability is very good, there is another store in 'Tosa which was booked for weeks, I don't understand that. Later on, I placed an order for some nice glasses. They do have a wide variety and cost points which is great. I went back for an adjustment as my current lenses were flatter and the new ones were more curved. I had a minor fishbowl effect that was fixed on the first try, and also the edges of the lenses weren't perfect and she approved getting them changed out. Very happy with the final result. The timing was ironic as I placed the order for these, and I snapped the frame of my current glasses. The business deserves 5 stars. They are all nice, helpful, and professional.

The reasons for…read moremy 1 star rating are as follows: Dr. Walters misdiagnosed me, is illegally withholding medical records, thinks 8 weeks is a legitimate time frame to return phone calls, and is overall very rude and unprofessional. It is my assumption he is withholding my medical records and the office notes because they are incomplete and substantiate my claim of a misdiagnosis. Not only is withholding my medical records a HIPAA violation, it's not representative of a legitimate medical practice. I have made several requests both verbally and in writing for my records AND THE NOTES. If my Medicare and HIPPA violation complaints don't get their attention, perhaps a subpoena will. Dr Walters claims his standard time frame of 8 weeks to return phone calls is completely reasonable. This is absolutely absurd. Not only have I worked at several reputable medical practices, but I often have to reach out to various medical practices regarding myself, children, and wife. I have yet to come across anywhere else that its not SOP to return phone calls within 24 hours on a business day. At most legitimate medical practices 24-48 hours is the standard. When I dared to very nicely bring these issues to Dr Walters attention, he told me that I should be nicer to people who have "carried" me. I asked him what he meant by this statement and he did not care to elaborate. These items I spoke to him in a completely flat and emotionless tone. I still don't know what he meant by "carried you" since he hasn't even done the bare minimum, yet the billing system seems to always be working just fine. Finally, the parking lot, waiting area, reception area, bathrooms, and diagnostic area, were ALL very dirty and unkept. I'm sure if you have simple needs for something like near or far sighted correction, and you are willing to put up with the above, then go ahead and take your chances. Otherwise if you have low vision I strongly recommend you avoid this place for your own health and safety.

When I selected the basic lenses, they said I didn't want those (then why even offer them?). I never really understood what I was getting or paying. I didn't even see an itemized receipt until I picked up my glasses ($275 for lenses, oof). It all felt rushed, opaque and like I was getting up-sold at a car dealership. If they would be more clear and transparent about lense options and costs (maybe put it all on a flyer you can hand to the customer), this place would be an easy five-star review.
