But unfortunately my insurance Florida Blue doesn't cover any sort of weight loss and I don't have the money to pay out of pocket, so my bariatric weight loss dreams ended there until I get a better insurance plan. Dr. Sharma was very kind and handled explaining things to me about insurance and giving me out of pocket estimate. After several endoscopy sessions confirming the presence of a hernia he chose to just monitor the situation. I only wish I had found Dr. Sharma sooner. He took the time to listen to my symptoms, order the right tests and personally did my endoscopy. He discovered my hernia was much larger than my gastro initially relayed and I was scheduled for surgery soon after. His skill as a robotic surgeon is unparalleled. I did not have to take any pain meds post op at all and the incisions healed extremely well. What a blessing not to have any complications, something that speaks to Dr. Sharma's level of competence and experience. I am truly thankful and will be forever grateful for him and the standard of care he and his staff have shown to me. He has indeed given me a new life. I should also mention his facilities are spotless and state of the art. That in addition to the sweet and caring staff has always put me at ease. Dr. Burns came across as arrogant, belligerent, and very disrespectful. Instead of feeling heard or cared for as a patient, I felt dismissed and spoken down to. With skin cancer running in my family, I try to stay ahead of the matter as much as I can. A few years back I did a series of IPL laser treatments that really helped reverse some of the sun damage I did in my teens & early 20's by laying out on the beach entirely too much. Contoura's also helped me with embarrassing things like hormonal adult acne. I never thought I'd have to go through a mild phase of my teenage years all over again in my thirties but, there I was a year ago, trying everything under the sun on my own to get rid of it and nothing was working. To this day, my stomach is still bulging, and it's clear the muscle repair was not done properly. My belly button looks unnatural--almost like a coin--and the hip-to-hip scar isn't even placed low enough to be hidden under underwear, which was one of my main concerns going in. At my follow-up, I was told I could get a revision after six months since my stomach was still large. I was initially told I'd only need to cover the anesthesia fee, which I was willing to do. However, when I received the actual quote, they added an additional operating room fee, bringing the total to $2,900. That's on top of the $8,700 I already paid. This is where it really feels wrong--there were no complications like infection or wound issues. The issue is simply that the surgery was not done thoroughly enough, yet I'm being asked to pay again to fix it. That doesn't sit right.
