She asked why we'd left, explained that they were coming off of a rush, and that many of the staff were in the back recovering said rush. That was not true. Two hostesses at the front, manager to our right, three people behind the bar, and a few other staff scattered around.

While they've changed some of the restaurant's interior, the same great service and menu awaits each guest, whether a returning customer or an Amarillo newcomer! And one step in Malcolm's gives you a sense of the 1950s/1960s Amarillo that you've read stories about! We brought our kids here when they were babies and they've grown up enjoying it! And I enjoyed it before then, even in high school. Malcolm's has been a mainstay in Amarillo's landscape for decades and I'm glad it's not going anywhere!

I couldn't eat any of it, I called for a manager and got Sarah. She said that they couldn't refund me but put me down for a redo later. At this point I don't think I want to go back there. I get that restaurants are struggling but there really wasn't any reason for this to be so flimsy and unappetizing. My husband's mean wasn't much better. Asked for gravy on the potatoes and the chicken fried steak and it wasn't there on the steak. The steak also looked frozen and fried, not hand breaded like they use to be. With only about 12 tables packed into its 1,000 square feet, the atmosphere is alive with a loud, friendly hum, a dirt parking lot, and a vintage bathtub floating full of ice and cold beer bottles. The place is amazing!!!! The unique steaming process is really amazing. You have to try the chili cheese fries to go with it. The menu keeps its focus tight, centering around half-pound patties of lean Texas ground beef cooked to order. While traditional options like the Hickory Burger and the Green Chili Cheese Burger are stellar, the undisputed heavyweight titleholder here is the legendary Burger from Hell. I had to try it, my wife opted for the Chicken Fried Steak. Many approach the "Hell Burger" with great trepidation, expecting it to be more of a gimmick built strictly on painful, mouth-numbing heat. Instead, it offers a beautifully layered flavor profile. The beef patty with Tabasco and their proprietary "Coyote Hell Sauce," then smothers it in gooey melted cheese, grilled onions, and fresh, vibrant sautéed jalapeños. The kitchen fell far beyond short. Management needs to address food quality and temperature standards if they expect guests to return.
