Going down Floyd Hill on a Sunday afternoon, my steering wheel began to violently shake when I pressed the brake pedal. It got scary. Since I had a trip to the mountains the next Friday to include some 4x4ing, I needed someone honest & reliable asap. Jacobs' reviews spoke well and with a reasonably short drive, I was beyond stoked when they said they could take me on Tuesday morning. Just for fun, I tried online booking at other well-rated nearby shops: Best case Thursday. Jacobs for the win. Jacobs provided a seamless, straightforward experience, fixing my brakes by the next morning at a good price. They also did a synthetic oil change for about $20 less than I've been charged elsewhere. I've got a new mechanic and could not be happier with their service. Family-owned businesses are the way to go these days. read more

Based on good reviews here and location (near my home) I brought my Forrester there to replace an interior broken door handle part. When I called last week they were friendly and offered to see my car the next day. I postponed till today. Walked into a large clean and professional looking facility @ 8am. An hour later they had diagnosed the problem and called for approval to repair. A few hours later they called to say the job was done. I can see on the receipt they charged a half hour diagnosis and .6hrs. to complete the repair (taking interior door panel off and back on). Hourly rate was good. A little over an hour for this job was also good.... many other places would have added more. I will def. be back next time my car needs anything. read more

Wife and I had a few items on her Escape that needed attention. I can fix the little things; and have even done brakes once or twice, but when your wife says things like "my car is making a farting noise near the gas fill" and "I just got gas and now my car won't start" and "I'm pulling into the garage and my car just did that farting noise and now it won't start" then it's time to take it to the professionals. After some googling and some reading reviews she ended up on the phone with Jacobs at like 5pm on a weeknight asking if they had an appointment available soon for her car - they told us to drop it off that very next morning, and they were able to diagnose and fix the problem on a days notice for what we felt was a very fair rate. They also treated my wife with respect, which can *sometimes* be an issue with car places; they want to talk to men or deal with men. These folks were just awesome. They also replaced a malfunctioning brake light, and got all tires filled up to their appropriate pressures (the cold weather change had made a couple of 'em soft and now they're back where they should be). All in all we were huge fans of Jacobs; I won't hesitate to take her car there again, I won't hesitate to take my Jeep there in the future, etc. We had a great experience and I am happy to know there's a great, trustworthy garage nearby for the things we need! read more

My car was broken into while on the lot. I had not paid my bills for months due to financial issues but giving my car back and claiming you got it with the door locking mechanism broke is just bad business. I couldn't even talk to anyone about it. I understand everyone needs money but being untrustworthy is just bad business. They fixed my car but also told me shortly after I replaced my own starter that it was probably the problem and had me replace it within 3 weeks of replacing it myself. I don't know why all of a sudden there is a gate around their customers cars but I'm sure I'm not the only one who suspects a burglary took place and they didn't report it. read more

I brought my car in with a small leak. They tell me the radiator needs to be replaced. Ok, I trusted these guys and had it replaced with a change of oil and rear brake pads ($1506). The same day I picked it up, my engine's cooling fan started running despite my engine temp being at a normal level. Well, then it begins running every time I start it up and continues for 5-10 mins after I turn off the engine. Weird, this wasn't an issue before. So I call them up, and they have me bring it in. Now they tell me the thermostat and coolant temp sensor need to be replaced ($782). At this point, I can't help but feel suspect, so I refused. But, here's the kicker. They charged me for the diagnostic when I brought it back. $135 for them to look into a problem that didn't exist until they worked on it. Took it to a place recommended by my coworkers. Would you believe it? They couldn't find anything wrong with it save for some suspicious loose wiring they tightened up. The place didn't even charge me, and my car has been running fine since. They even had serious doubts that a new radiator was necessary. Stay away from this place. They will take advantage of you. read more

My family has done business with Jacobs since they were located on Colorado Blvd. Rob and Al have always been exceptional in customer service and repairs. They have always been honest and reliable. They did an excellent job and cared about their customers. However, a few years back Al retired and more recently Rob retired as well. The business has been turned over to Robs daughter and is not the same. I have been in a few times since the change and noticed a huge difference in customer service and not for the better. I still would go back thinking she would settle into the job with her dad's guidance. Unfortunately, this hasn't happened. My latest and last experience was when I had a window that rolled down but wouldn't roll back up. I drove in and went up to the counter. There were three people at the counter including Robs daughter who has taken over the business. I was told that I could have an appointment in a week. I stated that what was I supposed to do for a week with rain and auto theft being a big concern. They didn't care at all. Take it or leave it was the attitude. They were not busy and not one of them even offered to slide their butt of the stool and come out to my truck and even pretend to care. My issue isn't that they couldn't take me immediately, but they just could care less about me as a customer. I have no doubt that Rob would have come out to my truck and taken a look to see if he could do something right on the spot as he has always done in the past. With Rob and Al gone the new Jacobs isn't about the customer anymore. I have noticed the Robs daughter seems to be very knowledgeable about cars but has no clue what customer service means. She still has a lot to learn about people. Knowledge means nothing without understanding and being friendly and trying to help your customer. The perception of understanding where your customer is coming from and trying to make them feel like you want to help them even if you can't do it on the spot is lost on this owner. Your employees will follow your lead and if you have NO personality and come across COLD and not caring they will follow your lead and do the same. Brought my GMC Terrain to Jacobs after receiving a quote to fix a leak in my expansion valve from another company that seemed overly expensive ($1250). Dropped my vehicle off in the evening and they contacted me early the next day with the same diagnosis but quoted me a repair cost well over 50% less. My wife has been taking her vehicle to Jacobs for years, but it's a little bit of a commute from our home so I've not. That is now changed. I dropped off my car the night before my appointment at 8 am....Took a nap that day of discovery.......and no phone calls as of 3:30 pm. They had not called me yet to discuss my car.I called them and they said just getting your car in.I said is it going to be ready by the time you close at 6pm.Oh no mamm you will have to bring it back monday.First off spent $30 on lyft.They say on the website...shuttle service.Thats a joke!!!!! I have been going to this shop for approximately one year after being transition from CNS in the same complex. My initial experience was wonderful and collectively very good and exemplary. The mechanics are super competent and thorough. However, my recent experience in late November was quite the contrary and would be the last time I would have vehicles serviced here. I made an appointment one week in advance on my day off, on a Thursday. Dropped my car off @ 09:15 hrs and called two times to only receive vague answers to my pertinent questions on the progress on my repairs. Finally, on my third after pushing for a concrete answer., I learned my car had been sitting in the parking lot the entire day!! The minor electrical system was an issue on a potential short, however this was never addressed because it sat there until 4:20 pm. I picked it up and left with no explanation from Jacobs. So the moral of the story is never,ever make an appointment with this shop and expect them to honor your "Advanced" scheduled day and date. My Honda ended up blowing up on I-25 South two weeks ago, in rush hour with a electrical short that exploded, and was very lucky to steer my car off to the shoulder with no power! I had to pay for a Tow and missed work. Here is the sad part, I knew exactly where the short preciously was, and had they just adhered to my one week advanced appointment this would have been mitigated and resolved. My car was never looked at for 7 hours with an appointment!!! In closing, Jacobs I believe, are a reputable company, and they have lost me as a client, but I would still recommend them as a viable service center. The mechanics are the BEST, and top notch, however, the front management employees need to seriously question some of their oversights and to adhere customer appointment times,dates, and days unimpeded. read more

I called them yesterday and asked if they had any openings and fortunately they had a cancellation. This place was recommended to me by a co-worker, whose entire family uses them. I was new to CO and not in the mood to deal with a mechanic who would try to rip me off just because I'm a girl/woman. Before I moved to CO from MI, my dad always handled the car details, and from the very first visit, the guys at Jacobs Service made me feel like they were my surrogate mechanic dads. While my car has never actually needed much beyond an oil change in the 4 years that I've been going here, they've always been super nice, have never once tried to push any extra services, and their prices are beyond what I consider fair. They go above and beyond to answer my questions, and immediately double check any issues I bring up before I even leave the shop. My one recommendation: call ahead to schedule your appt because these guys don't seem to be hurting for business. My wife took our VW Passatt into them, as our check engine light was on. The gentleman behind the counter was extremely friendly and helpful. He said to usually leave it with them for 3-4 hours to take a look. My wife was going to wait around for it to be done since she didn't have any means of going anywhere. Well, they took care of it right away in about an hour!! My wife was so happy that they saved about 3 hours of waiting for her. The mechanic was also very helpful in explaining what was wrong, what needs fixing etc. We will definitely be back, as their prices are super competitive, and the staff is supremely helpful and friendly. read more

I was referred to Jacobs by a friend and am totally pleased. They are very customer friendly and completely accommodated my needs. I was called at 9:30 in the morning with an explanation of the repair needed and cost which was considerably less than what my usual auto repair service quoted me. By 10:30, my car had new front breaks and rotors, and I was on my way. The only downside is that Jacobs doesn't provide complimentary drop off and/or pickup service. I went here for a pre purchase inspection on a suburu. I was in a rush and my car stayed untouched for a long time before I went up to the counter again and asked about it. Then, they spent very little time (like 15 or 30 minutes) looking through the car. They charged me a hundred bucks and said that the only thing wrong was a few quick fixes. What makes me frustrated- they told me that my brakes had 70% left. This was 4000 miles ago. Now the brakes are at less than 25% -as confirmed by two different mechanic shops. I researched how fast people can get through brake pads . (Mind you, I'm a slow driver who doesn't need to hard brake often at all). It should take 25,000-50,000 miles for brake pads to wear. So either I braked an OBSCENE amount to wear out half the brake pads in 4000 miles... OR they lied. It's a bit disappointing that I paid a hundred bucks for them to tell me very little info on a car... And some of it seemed made up now. If I did wear out half of my brake pads in 4000 miles, I guess it's my bad. And sorry. But I'm writing because I really think that this wasn't the case, especially since they gave a half-assed job for the whole inspection in general. It's the little things. But disappointing nonetheless. I'm giving it two stars instead of one because I don't want to ruin these guys business, you know? People like them on here and that's why I went there in the first place. But I'm posting my frustrations because I think pre purchase inspections are really important and I'm hoping that they would put more effort into them. I was having some issues with noisy brakes and took it in on 12/23 - the Friday before a holiday weekend. Al had noted they would do their best to work it in for a review, but it may be late afternoon. Due to a cancellation, they were able to review the car and call me to go over a game plan by 10am that day. Not only were they able to fix the issue at hand - same day! - but I asked them to check over the rest of the car. For a small fee, they checked out everything and were able to give me the A-ok on several things, and a heads-up on some areas that may need a bit of work in the future. My car broke down and I had to have it worked on last minute. I called Jacob's a couple of minutes before they closed and they said no problem drop it off and they could fit it in. I had it towed that night, left my keys in their after hours, and the next day spoke with them and they had it fixed the following day. They did a great job communicating and getting my approval before any work was done. On top of that, explained the issue and parts needed very well. I use to promote this shop all the time and they have done someone descent work in the past but I would not trust them to work on my car anymore. They were going to charge me $600 to replace my blower motor which I did for $150.00. If you go to them make sure you know the actual cost for parts and labor before having them do work for you. I've been using Jacobs for about 7 years now. When I owned a business I learned VERY quick that the chainstores (you know the ones, they do brakes only or tires) were a ripoff waiting to happen. Always "finding" problems that you didn't know existed. So I had a rule, change the oil anyplace convenient - but if I had a mechanical problem - go to Jacob's. I've never had a bad repair there, with 8 different cars (some of which were in service at my company) there were never any problems with the repairs they undertook. Was always fixed right the first time. I send everybody I know there, MOST dont listen to me because they think they got "a deal" - those that do, become loyal customers the first time. read more

I scheduled and appointment to get a pre-purchase inspection on a 4runner I bought because I live in Littleton and couldn't have it looked at by my local mechanic. The guy on the phone sounded nice and I thought they would handle it well. I stopped by after work just to make sure it was getting inspected since the dealer dropped it off for me. The guy got in and drove it around on the main road, and then pulled it into the stall when he got back. I decided to go in and talk to them to let them know this was important to me. I felt iffy talking to the guy at the counter and he said they couldn't get it dont that night. 30 min later when I was still driving home he called me and said the only thing they found wrong was the wiper blades. Great right. The first night I have it in my parents brand new driveway, it leaks oil out of the loose oil filter. I'm no mechanic but how do you not find a loose oil filter during a pre-purchase inspection. I could've blown up my engine on the way home in my brand new 12 thousand dollar car. This mechanic overlooked a serious safety issue by stating they were doing inspections when they were not. If they were, they also would have noticed the two leaks (also on a serious part of my engine) and pointed them out. I do not recommend, as this mechanic only does what you ask them to and lies about the inspection. Everytime my car was in the shop, I asked if they did an inspection and if any problems were found. I know they were not as I have known for a while my vehicle needed rear brakes. I asked them specifically how the rear brakes looked and they replied, "the mechanic did not see any problems". So, either the mechanic is incompetent or they are saying they inspect the vehicle for other problems and they do not. Both of those scenarios are bad. Again, I do not recommend this shop. read more

But they had our car for 2 whole days and never called to keep us updated on it (I had to do all the calling), so we decided to pick it up and take it somewhere else. Jacob's did everything in one day and for almost $200 less than what the other place quoted us. Wow. This place made a bad week so much better. I work in Denver and live closer to the Springs, so it's an understatement to say I need my Ford Focus in good shape at all times. Friday, I was driving to work, and it starts feeling like my car is on ice. I had no idea what was going on, and my boyfriend and friends only had guesses. I made it to work, and on my way home decided not to take the highway and try to limp it home to have it looked at later. I didn't make it near that far. Called Jacobs and, as it was the weekend, didn't hear back till Monday morning (totally expected.) They actually got back to me much earlier than I had anticipated. They were friendly, and didn't offer any advice without seeing the car other than get it towed over, don't try to drive it. I brought it in, and they had it looked at in a matter of hours, and had an estimate that seemed fair, and my boyfriend and dad both agreed it didn't sound like they were trying to make me pay for more than I needed. They told me the car would be ready Tuesday by about 4. At about 3, they called and said they took it for a test drive to make sure everything was fixed, and heard some noise they didn't like, thought it was the bearings on the other side than what they fixed. They gave me an estimate and said it could still be done by the end of the day. I said I needed to call my dad, and got the OK to spend the extra money, by the time I called back (not even 20 mins later) they told me they had put it back up, double checked, and it wasn't what they thought, but instead a tire issue that wasn't a big deal right away. They EASILY could have had me pay another $200 for something I didn't need, but were honorable and told me the truth. I can easily recommend these kind men to anyone, and would to most, especially to those, like me, who really know nothing of cars but don't want someone taking advantage of that fact. Thanks so much.
