I own a Jeep Wrangler JL 2018 low mileage. It's new to me. I started getting a flash of errors settling on service transmission. My brother and I settled on the auxiliary battery. Lucky us and thank you Jeep. 2 almost 3 year old battery. Gary's worked with me to do battery testing instead of the whole battery of diagnostics Aux battery load testing was good but the impedance was low. Replaced and they checked a lot of other things. Giving me statuses and explanations and meaning all along the way in troubleshooting. That kind of communication instills trust and I appreciate it a lot!! I've been going to Joe and Kerstin for awhile for my 2014 Chevy Equinox, which has been a relatively solid car despite the model's notorious problems (burning oil, especially). They recently checked out the car before I had a road trip and gave me a couple of "yellow flags" that could wait awhile but said I should be good to go, including my brake pads. My sister was driving the car into Santa Fe when she said the car was shuddering when she braked. Worried we were about to have something really bad happen, I pulled into a local place. Welllll...they totally swindled me: new pads, warped rotors, a torn boot, all sorts of stuff. The car was about to fall apart and strand us in the desert, clearly. Eager to move on to my next destination and not be stuck, I reluctantly gave them my credit card. I texted with Kerstin and let her know what happened. She called me back right away and explained in no uncertain terms that I was to go find a second opinion and not pay for anything (whoops, too late...I guess it's a norm at a mechanics not to pay for anything up front, unspoken rule). She checked with Joe about the recent diagnostic and talked me through the possibilities of what was actually happening with my car and supported me going up there and requesting a refund and only paying for what had been completed (new brake pads and rotors in back, still a ripoff for probably fine rotors and pads that were at 3.5mm but a more doable one). Yes, I felt like an idiot. Yes, initially they refused the refund and "had to call corporate", blah blah blah. But I probably saved $1700 in the process. Then, Kerstin stuck with me for doing basic troubleshooting for the shuddering. Joe proposed that it could be "bad gas", at one of the random stations we'd stopped at. He said that we could test filling up the balance of the tank with high octane Maverick gas (no ethanol). Would you believe that did the trick? All the car's symptom's disappeared (turned out it hadn't been shuddering upon brake, just shuddering in general). I completed my road trip without any issues and soon after went back to Gary's for a different test (discussed awhile back before all this went down for my aging car). They double checked the shady mechanic's work and said that they saw very little that needed addressing, and certainly nothing in the thousands. The car has driven fine since then. WOW, I feel like this level of honesty and quality is what is missing these days. I have been using Gary's for the last 3 years and they never stop impressing me. When I have a issue with one of my vehicles they are able to get it in quickly. I appreciate the full vehicle inspection that occurs but I don't feel pressure to fix stuff that is not necessary. In fact many times I have asked their opinion for the best direction to go for what we use the vehicles for and feel like I get an honest answer. I really enjoy speaking directly with the mechanic that is doing the work and not some shop supervisor that is giving me information 3rd hand. At Gary's I am often shown the difference in quality of parts they use and I am able to form my own opinion of what should be done. I recently moved 2 hours away and feel the commute to have Gary's maintain our vehicles is still well worth it. So glad i didn't take my car to the Toyota dealership that has missed so many things! And glad i didn't take it to the dishonest and incompetent mechanic that told me that the thug that had sawed off my catalytic carberator hadn't actually got the right thing. He charged me over $600 to "correct" the damage. He didn't even weld the replacement part!! Money wasted and job not even done. I had called two weeks ago to schedule to have my timing belt replaced on my Honda Accord. At 3:00 pm Friday afternoon 07/30/21, I received a call from Gary's Auto Repair stating that they would not be able to fix my car. They wanted to reschedule for the following week. I was extremely frustrated and upset at the delay. Waiting till 3:00 pm to call to reschedule an appointment a week later is not good Customer Service and bad business practice. Gary's Full Service Auto is a gem we found on the border of Aurora and Denver. It's def not a place where you can just drop off your car real quick and hope and pray that they don't rip you off. Here at Gary's, from the initial phone calls to when I actually dropped my car off, both Gary and Lori was super nice and helpful. They will ask you all kind of questions regarding the car issues, the car history of maintenance, etc so prepare to spend some time talking. And then suggest some alternatives that you can try first to save you some money and let you decide if you wanna go with them or not. My car was finished 2 days early and Gary spent a good 20 mins talking to me about what he found, what he did and what else he suggests for the near future. It's such a refreshing change when you actually finalized everything with the one who actually did work on your car, not some front desk representative that will just go over with you the same list of services that you can read yourself. Not to mention that cute and old-school touch of offering calendar as a thank you for your business at checkout. That just adds another detail of character for this auto shop. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my first visit so far and def will come back as well as recommend any friend in need of a good and honest mechanic to him. This place is absolutely awesome and deserves every word in this review... Gary is so friendly during my call when I realized my car ac was blowing hot air out. I brought my car in to Gary's place as soon as I could, and by the end of the day, he gave me a call and told me the ac was fixed! He was so kind and kept the car over night for me as I was unable to return the evening to pick up the car. I picked up the car the next day and he and I believe his wife were so friendly as usual, and showed me a comprehensive list of things they did to test my ac, describing the details of what actions they performed. The cost was not at all unreasonable, and with their awesome work ethic and friendly customer service, they could easily have charged more for their services! I realized I never actually left my review here. I went through Gary to get my AC unit for my 2009 Prius fixed in Spring 2018 but can't remember the exact date. Calling to make the appointment was a quick and easy process. He was able to see my car a lot sooner than I thought he'd be able to and was able to diagnose what the problem was quickly. I was hoping just for diagnostics to get done, but it turned out he was able to diagnose the problem and fix it all in one go. It was finished the same day I took it in and it made things so easy. I was running a few minutes late to pick up my car and he even stayed late so I could get it picked up and not have to wait until the next day. I would absolutely recommend calling Gary if your car is acting up. The super friendly dogs at the shop made the experience even better! read more

Just wanted to give a quick update: I took my truck to another mechanic for another diagnostic. They found the issue to be a restricted exhaust system via a bad catalytic converter. They also noted Gary's first point that the spark plugs and wires would need to be replaced. They validated all this through a couple of test to isolate these factors as the issues. In my original diagnostic with Gary, he noted that I had issues in cylinders 4 and 5 of my engine block. When I took it to the other mechanics at Kevin's Automotive Service they noted that the spark plug wires to cylinders 4 and 5 were unplugged when Kevin's mechanics received my truck. I don't know if this happened at Gary's or whether Gary's mechanics did not note that the spark plugs were not firing because they were unplugged, but either way this is something very apparent to notice and demonstrates a lack of attention to details. This is not encouraging for someone who charged such a large amount ($218) for a basic diagnostic. For reference, I was charged $70 for the same service at Kevin's and they had my truck in the next day and diagnosed the correct issue as based on the symptoms and follow-up test to validate. read more

If you are looking for a great quality auto repair, come to Gary's. I was very hesitant to take it anywhere outside of my dealership but I'm tired of dealerships. For starters, the had nothing available ASAP plus they aren't very knowledgeable. My car needed a thermostat (2014 Chevrolet Cruze) after I searched online. I did a quick search and Gary's came up first after I filtered the search by only looking for the top rated businesses. I looked at the reviews, even searched the BBB. My car is very important, takes me to work, and use it for everything. Anyways, the main person of contact is Kirsten. This young lady has all the knowledge (surprised she isn't a mechanic because of how well she explains everything in great detail like a mechanic does) and she knew right away what kind of diagnostic my car would need. It lined up with the little information I knew, very reassuring. That little bit of extra communication is what will make me come back in the future. The small extra communication is what your customers want because like everyone else, your assuming the worst and this is cost thousands of dollars and time. It's a small shop so it would take some time but they got it done before the weekend (3 days). Gary's provided great information about the health of my car, the repair did not cost me an arm and a leg (I searched the repair online and Gary's came under the price of what I was quoted online), and I'm really happy with the experience over all. I've worked on my vehicles my whole life if I didn't know how to do it, i'd learn....simply because I didn't trust auto mechanic shops. So it wasn't easy taking my truck into a shop. Sometimes you just have to because you can't figure out what the dang issue is. I found Gary's while researching, the shop had great reviews and it was super close too... so I gave them a shot. Stopped by the shop and found a welcoming, friendly place with a beautiful Aussie Sheppard laying at the counter like a furry greeter (a real Ma and Pa shop). Gary found it to be my PCM....he took care of the issue and went above and beyond regarding customer service, he even assisted with me getting my truck back while my wife was at work. My truck runs better than ever and I will not hesitate bringing any of my vehicles to this shop in the future. Gary and his crew are true pros but also stand-up human beings. I brought in my car unsure of what was wrong with it but sure I couldn't drop a ton of money on it. Terrible experience from start to finish. I even gave several concessions because I know how things work, stuff happens but this was utterly ridiculous! The entire staff, including Gary, talks the talk. Their communication is horrible at best. After several mishaps I spoke with Gary, he said all the right things to assure he still had my business moving forward, however, the day I showed up to pick up my car, he did everything he could to "not" acknowledge me after reassuring words over the phone. When I paid and attempted to leave, I noticed they didn't even reset my oil gauge but the car was "ready to go", and to boot, it took 2 mechanics to figure out how to reset the gauge and one of the two had the nerve to show attitude. Thank god for reviews!.. This was my experience going to Gary's full-service on Havana at, Aurora, CO. I dropped my vehicle off the service. I Explained to Gary, the owner himself, loud and clear I like a heads up on price before he does anything. Later that day he called me at home with a price to fix the shifting of my vehicle of $485 I said go ahead and fix it. He also said it might come out a little bit more because bushings that maybe needed ... I said how much more do you think it could come to. I asked Gary how much could these bushings possibly cost more than $500? He loud and clear said no more than $500 .. I gave him the go and said fix it... He called me back about 10 minutes later and asked me if I had a remote start system in my vehicle I said yes and he asked ... do you use it I said no.. I don't use it and don't mind him disturbing it ... that system is obsolete to me. Later that day he said the repair has been completed and the price was $630. I was very mad told him how did it go from $485 no more than $500 to a $630. Dollar bill?... He said I gave him the go-ahead to remove the auto start wiring and that came to like $140 extra... I told him I did not give him the go-ahead on charging me for removing the auto start system... He said I did approve and I know fully well I did not since I had Best Buy install the autostart some years ago and they would uninstall it for free... When I arrived to the shop to pay the bill for my car I told him if he charges me for that auto start which I did not approve loud and clear I will not be coming back to his shop anymore as he don't practice good business practices (even tho on his website he gives the impression he is the best shop around)...and he said it is what it is ...and don't get me wrong it's not that I don't have the money to pay the bill it's just the point of the whole matter how he swindled a little extra out of me with his play Of Words... I was Boiling!... So basically watch out for extra charges that he does and careful with the play of words such as I experienced and ended up paying for something I did not approve of ... I guess a little extra charge with this customer and that customer makes a good day of extra pay ... Nothing wrong with that and if you don't like it I guess he feels don't come back ... Gary is the most honest and skilled mechanic I have ever met. We had our Subaru overheat in the mountains and we had it towed to the closest shop. They told me the engine was fried and that they could dispose of the car at no cost. I wanted a 2nd opinion so I paid to have it towed to Gary's. I found him on the Car Guys list of local, trusted mechanics. I took my high-mileage, 14yr old car their and he broke down for me everything that is wrong with my car, but also was completely honest about which repairs were necessary for safety and which were more or less optional. I took my truck in for oil leaks and was told it would cost $700. Upon checking the vehicle, I was told of additional repairs that needed to be done. The timing chain was loose due to some broken plastic. This seemed to be the most needed item, so when told the cost would be $1,000 I authorized it. The total cost of $1,800 was never discussed. Was this a matter of poor communication, I don't know. The bill for $1,800 came as a shock. Does the cost of installing a timing chain kit average $1,000, I don't know. What I do know is my invoice is very skimpy on specifics. When something is being repaired, I expect a detailed list of all work done with the price for each item. This was not what I got. What I got was a list of parts with no relationship to specific work done and cost of labor for a specific job. Am I being too picky, who knows. Perhaps if my truck was newer than a1996 Nissan, I might think differently. This is my review, so take it for what you want to make of it. I read more

I found Gary's full service by chance off of the better buisness bureau's website for their rating of A+. Recently having moved across the country from Pittsburgh to Denver with my 150,000+ mile 2003 Trailblazer I found my self in need of a mechanic. After I arrived my car was still running but the ABS light was on and the check engine light was intermittantly flashing. I took the car to two other mechanics that told me the ABS computer was out and would cost $1000 dollars just to replace. I hesitated to do the work. Unexpectedly the car developed another problem and overheated. I had to make a decision fast. I had the car towed to Gary's. Not only was he very fair with his prices, fast with his service and honest he CORRECTLY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND SAVED ME NEARLY $1000 dollars. I will never go anywhere else and recommend him to everyone I meet. He is everything you look for in a mechanic! No wonder he is still in buisness after 25 years!
