You must visit Dr. Winters! When my top-rated dentist of four-years suggested I needed two root canals, and a third soon coming, I was concerned. Thank goodness a friend mentioned Dr. Winters who brings the practice to another level. Dr. Winters not only calmed my fears but did a full assessment and used data to make another decision: no root canals but a cap and several hours of careful work. She even showed me the x-rays so I could make the decision- no pressure. It cost me far less, saving me money, and did less invasive work, so I needed no invasive root canal procedures nor follow up work. A couple years later I can tell you her work has been perfect and I have become a regular patient. Dr. Winters won't talk a big game and makes it easy when you want to know technical details. This is RARE in the field and I could see how this could make some people uncertain. That's why people like me seek out professionals like Dr. Winters - and they are too few! I have really mixed feeling about this place and Dr. Winter. In a nutshell, Dr. Winter was very kind and the work she did was decent. She does take DMO and her fees were really affordable in prime location in NYC (we're talking about a crown below 1k with insurance at E 60th st.) However, I do feel Dr. Winter can improve her bedside manner as she seemed to take some offense when I asked tons of questions about extensive dental work. Or maybe that's just NY blunt. Also, hygiene can/should be improved with this office, but I can see the office was a bit short staffed and Dr. Winter seemed to treat her staff pretty well and was tolerant of other people's mistakes. She took over a lot of the work herself including verifying insurance, etc etc.. I came here with a change of insurance and to get a second option with another dentist that recommended extensive dental work. Her opinion was the same with another dentist, so that gave me some confidence. I did have a few crown work done here. They are done mostly decently. Dr. Winter teaches at Mt Sinai about this. However, they still used metal infused porcelain crown that most PPO practices don't use anymore. It still looks natural color from the outside, but it's kind of old fashioned. But the costs were also really really affordable compared to PPO dentists. Dr. Winter was very accommodating working out with my insurance situation and got my crowns done in time. It was quite rushed, but she was really calm. Also, when I had a bit of emergency situation, she answered the phone and would return your call. These are all good features of good doctors. read more

Patient beware! Dr. Winter has consistently lied to me about work that needs to be done in my mouth. 2 times "I had a cavity." I got second opinions both times and the doctors (two different ones) said there was no cavity. Another instance: "you need a crown or an inlay because your filling is completely cracked and your tooth is not in good condition" I go for 2 second opinions- not only is my filling in great shape, but my tooth is in excellent health. My friend also went to Dr. Winter- who told her she has 4 cavities. She went and got a second opinion- NO CAVITIES! be careful! You only get one mouth!!!! She has been great sometimes, but other times has completely tried to scam me and other patients for unnecessary dental work. read more

Mona is amazing. Dr. winter needs to retire. I am seeing a new dentist next week to fix the mess that she made in my already suffering mouth. On my last visit she suggested that I pulled several teeth. This is always a dentists last resort. I showed my x-rays to My sister who has been a hygienist for over 20 years. She made recommendations for additional services that would help, but didn't try to push me into anything, and her pricing was very reasonable (helpful when you don't have good dental insurance but nice even if you do.) I recently got dental insurance, and did a lot of research on finding a new dentist. After seeing rave reviews for Dr. Winter around the Internets (especially here on Yelp), I took a shot. I was very, very overdue for a cleaning, and the hygienist made it a very pleasant experience. She was gentle and thorough, and didn't make me feel like a horrible person for the poor state of my oral hygiene. Turned out I had 2 cavities and had to make a return appointment. Dr. Winter fixed my cavities, and it was the most painless, relaxing experience I have ever had in the dentist's chair. She was warm and comforting, with a very gentle touch, and worked quickly and efficiently. I was in and out in about 45 minutes, and never felt a thing. In fact I went straight back to work as if nothing had happened at all. I have already recommended Dr. Winter to several coworkers, everyone is as pleased with her as I am. I live in AZ and my daughter goes to school in NYC. She chipped a tooth and needed to get into see a dentist right away. I read online reviews of dentists in Manhattan who are in our insurance network and Dr. Winter seemed to be a good choice. They were able to get her in within 24 hours and my daughter said the office, staff and dentist were very nice and professional. We were charged exactly what my insurance company said we should be charged, so we were pleased with that. My daughter's primary dentist will continue to be our guy in AZ, but it's comforting to know that she has a good dentist in NYC should the need arise again. Dr. Winter is awesome. She is very sweet and delightful, she clearly has a ton of experience. She was very understanding, informative, and punctual. Her office always got me in within 5 minutes of my appointment time and was really responsive to my questions. When I had a complication after one of the procedures she did, she followed up with me over 3 or 4 office visits and was very understanding. She was not afraid to say when something was out of her range and referred me to several other specialists when the need arose. She gave me her recommendations and was not afraid to tell me not to waste my money on Invisalign when another Doctor recommended it for my bite issue. I got the feeling that the other doctor just wanted my money, but even though she provided Invisalign in her office she did not at all attempt to sell me on it and told point blank it would not help me at all. I found that to be honest and upfront and immensely respected her for it. I totally recommend her! read more

Went to see Dr Winter for a crown as she was accepting my insurance. The crown was so big and poorly fitting that I had to get it redone by another dentist paying out of pocket. Dr Winter never even apologized for the poor work and refused to give me my money back. Glad they are so many better options in NYC! read more

I have to say that I am very disappointed. By reading the reviews here on yelp, I was looking forward to finally finding a good dentist. I called in January to schedule an appointment. I was looking for the next available last appointment of the day. I was told that it wouldn't be until April. I was satisfied with that as I thought a good dentist would be worth the wait. I showed up today only for the office staff to tell me that it was canceled and they don't know why. Dr. Winters may be a good dentist but I think she needs to replace her office staff. It's not worth making an appointment where you have to leave work only just to be told that it was spontaneously cancelled. Definitely will continue my search in finding another dentist. read more

Dr. Winter's tactic seems to be to shame people into spending unnecessary $$ on upgrades that your dental plan doesn't cover -- by leaving her door open while explaining to you the costs of said upgrades. "It's only $200, it's not that big a deal" are the exact words she used while discussing my fillings with me while in earshot of a large and full waiting room. Unprofessional and condescending. I had my teeth cleaned here not by Jacqueline but one of her assistants. I do not have the healthiest mouth and her remarks were borderline derogatory. After the cleaning, I realized I had wider gaps between my teeth near the gum lines, and much more food was becoming trapped there. I am near certain is a direct effect to the cleaning done in that area by the tool that is used to grind away the plaque (my enamel). I got a new dentist after that, about 2 years ago, and have been much happier with the results. read more

I found her on yelp 10 years ago had wasn't too impressed that she just did a filling for me without telling me that it was going to cost extra. But the sensitivity for that tooth felt much more comfortable so I didn't complain. 10 years later, the filling is still there! I've gone to various other practices and had filling done at another location and it receded within a year or so. I finally found Dr. Winters again and she did not disappoint. I have been seeing Dr Winter for almost a decade. Unfortunately, I've had many dental issues and she and her staff make going to the dentist almost pleasurable. They are all professional and courteous. I recently had a dental emergency and the office made time for my appointment so we could minimize the pain.
