Whether you order through Uber Eats, Door Dash or directly from Jade Cafe, beware of the delivery man. Before your food is delivered you may get a text with your full name (seriously) from the delivery man asking about extra tip. Then he will say he needs more money for his family. It got so frightening that I had to call a neighbor over for safety. If you have kids, I would recommend picking your food up from the restaurant or choosing another restaurant entirely. read more

We literally just ordered again for the second night in a row. This food is beyond delicious, fresh and absolutely top notch. Everything we've ordered has been great: Cantonese style garlic sauce with tofu, singapore noodles, mushu chicken, king pao tofu, hot and sour soup, egg drop soup and crab Rangoon. I firmly believe that the best food delivery option will always be Chicago-style pizza but Chinese food comes in at a close second. This leads me to Jade in Highland Park. Authentic flavors and amazing viscosity are combined in these dishes, which created an eagerness for me to shovel in more! My takeout order was the Mapo Tofu and Hot & Sour soup. After living in China for several months I've become quite picky when it comes to authentic Chinese food, however the taste of the Mapo Tofu brought me right back to the wonders of the Sichuan Province. The tofu utilizes the balance between sichuan peppercorns and chili peppers- also known in Chinese as ma-la-wei. Additionally, the sweet bean sauce, chili powder, and shaoxing wine married perfectly together as it heated up my throat! And honestly, the hot and sour soup deserved it's own page because of how deep in flavor was. Layers of egg, bamboo, and mushroom created a superb thickness that propagated in the intense umami. I actually only ate half of the container and was full, but nevertheless I woke up in the middle of the night and heated up the rest of it! Well done, Jade chefs. I will be putting my collection of Chinese-takeout joints on the back-burner until I have tried most of the food on this menu. Just moved out of the City and to the burbs and been looking for a good Chinese place. They were obviously busy because I was put on hold for about 5-7 minutes and heard the phones ringing. Because of Covid-19 we ordered take out. The receptionist was very professional and patient. We ordered Lemon Ginger Fish and the Duck. WOW! Definitely will be ordering from here more often. First time ordering here. Wanted to try some new places in town & they have a lot of great reviews. The food was alright. I'd say my review is more 3.5. Little pricy. Loved the egg foo young. One of the best I've had. The veggie fried rice was ok. Ordered extra veggies and even that didn't have a ton. The veggie egg rolls weren't oily but it's definitely very peanut butter forward. My sig other got tofu Kung pow and said the heat was nice. Not too over powering. Will try again as they have a Thai dish I'd like to try & I'll give another review. read more

Not good. We ordered 3 different entrees to try out the place. There aren't many good Chinese restaurants in the HP area, so we were excited to have another options to try. The sesame chicken and governors chicken were practically identical. Only difference was the seeds on top of one. Both just tasted like sugary-sweet glazed chicken nuggets that had been microwaved. No crispness or crunch AT ALL! Super gross and overly sweet. The Peking pork was the worst though. It smelled horribly. Like unclean sausage casings. The smell reaked throughout our house the moment we opened the container. I suffered through a couple bites, but in the end we just threw it away. The skewers (beef) we're soggy and undercooked. The rice was dry and packed, like it had been stored in the to go container all day... And the egg rolls were really basic, like you'd get from the frozen food section of a supermarket. Jade Cafe has just opened at this location. Our first Order here was a success. The egg rolls were crispy and not oily. Our wonton soup was very good. The broth was not salty and the wontons were light and not doughy. The chicken and shrimp entree was nicely seasoned with fresh crisp vegetables. A five star rating is relative to the previous dismal experience at other Chinese carry out in the vicinity. Moved to the area about 2 years ago and have been trying out a running list of local Chinese restaurants. They have all disappointed. Neighbor recommended Jades a while ago and can't believe I waited this long to try it. It's soooo good! Had to do take out BC of the current situation but packaging was awesome, it kept my food warm until I got home. My crab ragoon was not soggy and greasy! It was perfect. Meant to take more pictures but ate everything too fast. Ordering in again soon and will post pictures. read more

Best food I ever had! Wow, just unreal. I don't love Chinese food but this is just so good. Get the bbq pork and the bbq ribs.

Not overly impressed with the food. I had the kung-pao chicken which is supposed to be spicy. It was bland with no heat at all. My wife had the Mongolian beef which should be flavorful. That was also bland. Service and order prepare time were good but that should be the norm. read more

So glad to find this place. We dined at the restaurant which only has seating for 12 people. The restaurant was spotless. The owner waited on us and was truly delightful. Hot and sour soup was very good. The crispy egg roll was by far the best I have ever had! They are made in house, filling was great and texture was simply perfect. The Happy Family entree was perfectly cooked, extremely fresh and so tasty! We will be back and will certainly order delivery too. read more

First time trying yelp delivery. First time trying this restaurant. Very easy to place order and pay online. I was expecting a 45 to 55 minute wait. However my order was delivered in about 40 minutes. Food arrived exactly as ordered, temperature was very hot, and food is very good. I would definitely try Jade Café again as well as yelp delivery if I was too tired to go out - which is the case. Five stars. read more

There is nothing worst than when your fav Chinese restaurant leaves you for nasty new owner... It happened again. Yu's was a dirty place that made great food at great prices with outstanding service. This was not the experience that I had with the new owners - Jade Cafe. Now it is just a dirty place with so so food at a new higher price. This is a lunch time nightmare. OMG! I had a hankering for fried rice and Doordash kindly provided Jade Cafe as an option. Did NOT disappoint! The BBQ pork fried rice was a *perfect* portion, seasoned just right, and the ginormous egg roll was a delectable bonus. A *little* pricey, but worth it as NOTHING went to waste. We ordered three entrees and two appetizers. The soup and the potstickers were Ok but the Pad Thai, the Pad See Eiw and the Spicy Chicken Noodles were a soggy mixture, bland taste, except the taste of rancid oil. We've been picking up at jade café throughout the pandemic. Probably at least twice a month. However recently the quality and taste and freshness has totally disappeared. Everything looks and taste the same. What's happened to this place? Is there a new chef in the kitchen? Very disappointing. This has happened at least the last three times. Ordered delivery and was very disappointed. Got egg rolls, chicken lettuce wraps, chicken pad Thai and Mongolian trio. Egg rolls were best thing at just ok. Chicken lettuce wraps were not good. Lettuce leaves we're not good for making wraps and filling was very mushy. Pad Thai was not good. The chicken was not normal chicken texture almost more like egg and there was no peanuts or sprouts or any sauce. Very bland. The Mongolian was ok but again mushy and heavily sauced. Have known Wendy the owner from previous Jade Cafe, when she ran that restaurant and then she ran Green Panda. So happy to find out she is now in business for herself. She took over Yu's Chinese restaurant, which needed a big facelift and spent lots of her money to really make a beautiful & romantic Asian restaurant. Very small but so cute. My friend who is vegetarian loves their mixed vegetables dish. Wendy than put in all new Wok stoves and redid the kitchen. I support women owned businesses. You go girl. The food here is less than average on a good day, but the temper and threatening demeanor of the owner is simply intolerable. He verbally accosted me for peeking around the corner and asking for some help.. he screamed and became so belligerent that the Highland Park police had to be called to cool down the situation. He was insulting, rude, and threatening. However, the wife remained clam and collected trying to ease the situation. He yelled at her too. There are many good restaurants in Highland Park, for your own safety and well being, choose one of them and AVOID the Jade as if it were plague infested. read more

Went for dinner. I was not aware this location changed ownership. Expecting traditional chinese food but pleasantly surprised with taste ordered human beef, combo fried rice, egg roll and orange chicken. Not a fan of egg roll stuffed with some sort of blended mush, however everything else was very good. Only issue was portion size small. Usually with more traditional Chinese restaurant I can feed 5 with above orded and left overs. Tonight only enough for 3 1/2 also same price. Likely will not return due to this.
