Mia. Wonderful! I have seen her twice in the past month and my husband took my suggestion and saw her today also. He is currently vegetating on the couch from his massage 4 hours ago. He is in a major zen state. Her massages are just the kind you would receive in China. Very focused on the right meridians. I love getting my massages at Jade Day Spa. The deep tissue massages I receive from Jun are probably the best ones I have ever had. He knows exactly how much pressure to apply and where, and his hands are unbelievably strong and tireless. The place feels clean, the beds are comfortable, and the price is unbeatable ($40 for one hour deep tissue massage). I had the best massage with Coco today at Jade Day spa in Danville Ca. She is the best ! It feels like, she's the master of human anatomy, she knows exactly what part of my body needs help, she knows where my pains are and she works on it and I can feel an instant relief. Her massage relaxes my body, mind and soul.I don't give any weight that they don't speak fluent english. I have tight shoulder and back muscles and Joanna did a great job pinpointing where the problem areas were and more (I had no idea my biceps/triceps/forearms were that tight). I had the 60 minute ($40+tip) deep tissue and Joanna delivered. I like deep tissue, so I was surprised when I had to tell her the pressure was too much for me at one point. Joanna also checks in on you periodically to make sure that you are ok. She also gave me advice at the end of the session on what I can do at home to help relieve some of my pec tightness. 2 Star for the same day appt convenience! Long story short, I don't know which massage therapist I had although she was female. I requested a deep tissue massage-- Instead I got my a** beat for :60 mins and I actually paid AND tipped for it! I promise I got pinched, scratched, sucker punched, kneeded and raked by knuckle techniques that were not used appropriately. It was the most uncomfortable and un-relaxing massage I've ever received. I was actually bruised around my lower back/spine area and shoulder blades the next day-- And hear me when I say, due to the amounts of melatonin in my skin, I don't visibly bruise easily!!! Additionally-- How do I say this tactfully... You don't put a damp, steaming towel on a Black woman's hair?! Are you freakin' kidding me?! I got random massage lotion and a steamy towel head massage that completely f'd up my hair and had me walking out of there looking like Buckwheat! I actually laughed out loud during the head massage as I laid there wondering if there was a such thing as cultural competency in the massage therapy world. In fact, I gigggled audibly several times as I was certain Ashton Kutcher was Punking me OR the TV crew from "What would you do?" was going to walk in the room at any moment and tell me this was some sort of social experiment. It was that bad... The sad part, and I'm ashamed to admit, I would consider going back for the convenience of appointments and perhaps with EXPLICITLY CLEAR direction, I could get a decent massage without having my a** handed to me. read more

I had a gift card for a free massage. I paid to upgrade to the Hot Stone Massage. My masseuse was Coco. Talk about feeling beat up. The stones were extraordinarily hot. Even after telling Coco they were too hot, she would continue. She rammed the stones up and down against my spine and shoulder blades. I politely would tell her that it hurt and she was using the stones on my bones and not my muscles. She would move over a little only to quickly return and rub the crap out of my bones. Her cell phone rang three times during the massage. She switched it to vibrate and placed it in her pocket which was next to my ears. It buzzed consistently. She actually answered one of her calls in the room. I was shocked. Then she said, "please wait. I come back" She left the room two different times for about 3-5 minutes each time. Once done and upon leaving, I gave her a $20 asking her for change. I was going to tip her a little, not much, probably shouldn't have tipped at all. She kept the $20 and looked at me and said "thank you" pretending she didn't know what I was asking. I said "no, I want change. A $10, a $5 and five $1's". She made me wait as she went to see the male masseuse and interrupted his massage to get the change. They made that poor person wait 5 minutes as they fumbled though their wallets. I know they were hoping I'd just say forget it and walk out, but I didn't. When I tipped her $6, she looked at me all offended. I wanted to tell her why, but I guarantee you she wouldn't have understood, too much of a language barrier. I was soar for days afterward. Literally the worse massage I've ever had. New to the area and needed help with the stress knots in my back. Found Jade Day Spa on yelp and after reading the reviews, booked a same day appointment with Mr. Gao. I couldn't be happier. He has a great technique and a kind and professional demeanor. He found my "stress spots" immediately and the deep tissue work, trigger point release, warm towels and some reflex stretching were more than I expected, in a good way. You can't beat the value and I tipped him as I would have on a spa-priced treatment - he deserved it. read more

I had a deep tissue massage with Coco yesterday. It was the WORST massage I've ever had. I've been going to Jade since it opened. Every therapist has been great! I'm not picky on who does the massage, just HOW they massage. I can stand the pain, I love the deep tissue. I've taken my daughter, my mom, my sister, girlfriends, and never a bad experience, so maybe Coco was just having a bad day yesterday..? First off she took her hands and ran them up and down my spine, the bones, not the muscles! then she started digging in my ribs! I said "OUCH!" and she laughed at me! She didn't ease up on the pressure nor did she try to find my muscles, she was aimed at massaging my bones! Is she even trained on the human anatomy? Then she jumped on top of me and dug in like a freight train, I screamed again and she actually said "SHHHHHHH". I almost ran out of the room, but I was hopeful it would get better. It did not, she turned me over and started flicking my neck muscles with her thumbs, and then "massaged" my throat!!! This torture session ended with her digging into the base of my spine and pulling my hair, I was so happy when she said "I'm done" Im really upset as I considered this MY massage place. I usually go another spa in San Ramon. but they were booked full. I called Jade spa and a very nice gentleman answered the phone. I asked if I could get a 60 min massage right away. He said he would try to make it work and he would call me back. He called within 5 minutes! Excellent customer service! I arrived at my appointment 5 minutes early and he offered me a room. Mr. Gao was my masseuse. He truly defined "pain for pleasure" He asked how hard I would like the pressure, I said med-hard. He was very firm and I held my breath, but every time he released the pressure, the pain stopped and it felt amazing!!!! I walked out a true believer in Mr. Gao. He was kind and very professional. I have been in extreme back pain, leg and ankle pain for several weeks. I have seen Mia now for the past several weeks, and she has helped me tremendously. The treatments are very painful as I have some many back knots that have not been treated for years. Mian is very good and I do believe that after a month or two, I will be on the road to recovery. Mia is very well versed in all of the muscles and tendons and she just senses when something is out of wack. With my body right now, everything! I feel better the next day as the first day is total deep tissue massage which is painful. She has taken away my calf pain, much of my lower back. Mia says this is years of stress on my back where I never wanted to attend to the issues. So glad I have found Jade, they are very reasonable and do an amazing job. I have a bad neck with resulting chronic pain. I've tried P.T., cortisone shots, and even a couple of spinal epidurals in the past for the pain with limited success. I go to Jade a couple of times a month and the massages give me more relief than the medicines do. I always try to book Coco or Winnie, but all of the therapists there are excellent. read more

I was referred to Coco at Jade Day Spa by a friend who I could not thank enough. I have had a history of shoulder tightness and pain - related to stress and probably previous years as an athlete. I have huge knots in my shoulders and upper back that no one has been able to loosen up - 20+ have tried. I had a 60 minute massage with Coco (petite woman with extremely strong hands) who did wonders - the knots are still there but my muscles are a little more loose. Went there not long ago in the hopes of easing some leg pain that had been bothering me for days. I didn't expect much, but I thought that at least it would be relaxing. My therapist was Terri. I described the problems I was having and she went to work. From time to time, she asked if the pressure was OK. Though it was very considerate, it was almost unnecessary since she seemed to have an intuitive feel for her treatment. The massage was calm and relaxing. I enjoyed the experience thoroughly. Later, that evening, I was pleased to note that the pain was much reduced. I will definitely recommend and return, myself. read more
