Not into this place at all. I've had their food 3 times, I live across the street so it's convenient. Even the chicken teriakyi is bad. I make a better teriakyi sauce and I'm white. Why would the serve it on a bed of onions? Like seriously, 2 whole onions cut up under that sh*t. Fried rice has no egg. Why?? Sushi is terrible. Their lunch special is ridiculous value for money with a soup, rice and dish for less than $7 - we LOVE their schewan dumplings and remind us of our many trips to Asia. Picked up an order to go. Overall pretty mediocre Asian food. Lomein had decent flavor but mushy noodles. Steamed pork dumplings were also mushy and pretty bland. Tofu with mixed vegetables was okay - again very bland flavor. The King Kong roll was also bland in spite of having spicy Tuna. The best tasting thing we had were the scallion pancakes. We went in for dinner and our waiter was extremely rude and very unaccomadating. He rolled his eyes when I asked him for tea and noodles to accompany my Won-Ton soup. My wife and I wanted to dine out on a snowy evening last winter, they have an hour before they close when we came in. They insisted we do take out after we made known that we were dining in. They didn't have any other customers , the audacity to tell us that we might take long to eat! Needless to say we told everyone we know not to bother and spend their money in this place. Years ago I heard this was a good restaurant. Since most of our local favorites have closed, we started going to Jade Island about two years ago. I cannot recommend it for two reasons: the food and the service. The servers in general do not seem to understand English well and often there is an attitude involved. The portions are generous and some of the appetizers are good, but it's over-priced for the quality. Read on for specifics. Over the holidays my husband and I took our college-aged children and some of their friends to dinner here. One of the friends was vegan. I don't think many in the party were satisfied with their food. The evening started off poorly with my request to have crispy noodles in addition to the spicy pickled cucumbers that they serve at every table. A few at the table don't care for these cucumbers; this was the third time I've asked for crispy noodles and on this rejection I finally got a reason: they're only for take out orders! Are you kidding me? Every time I make this request I'm told these cucumbers are made special for dinner guests. Well guess what...I hate them! What happened to making customers happy? The servers act like these cucumbers are to die for and won't even entertain a request for something else. This is a s.i.m.p.l.e. request. The dinners were miserable. The dishes that had sauces had WAY too much sauce on them. I had chicken with cashews. The chicken was tiny little deep fried bits (about the size of a dime), with veggies and a few cashews in a very burned-tasting brown sauce. It was dreadful. Another person had chicken pad thai, which he said didn't taste like pad thai at all. I looked and it seemed to be a big glob of noodles in an orange-ish sauce with very little chicken. The vegan ordered fried rice. It was mostly rice with small bits of vegetable, notably onion. Pretty sub-par, and certainly not filling. The only person who was happy was my husband, who got to make and actually get a special request! I will not be eating at this restaurant again. read more

The service here is absolutely terrible, and the barely acceptable food doesn't make up for it. Our waitress took our order and disappeared for the night, while a busboy threw our order at us. Food was not hot. When he arrived, there was no one in the restaurant. Why were we waiting 1/2 hour for luke warm food? Now on to the food. Worst Chinese food I've ever had. Actually, the worst food I've ever had. We threw both entree's out. I ordered General Tao's chicken. Breading, very soggy. Barely any sauce. Cold. My husband ordered sesame chicken. Totally inedible. Expected food in 45 minutes. Called the restaurant multiple times when it did not show. Each time the individual answering the phone said it was out for delivery. We called at the hour mark, hour and half mark, and finally two hours. Same response each time. We finally cancelled the order all together and the individual just laughed. Quality of food is fairly good, if you stick with simple things. Delivery takes forever and when it does come, it is delivered by a very sour fellow who grunts at you. Just ate delivery from here. All the dishes we ordered were awful in their own way. I don't understand the good reviews. Where to begin.The Szechuan chicken tasted like flavorless slime. The miso soup looked and smelled like dirty grey pond water. The salad had soon to be rotten lettuce throughout. The cold noodles in spicy sauce just tasted like spaghetti with peanut butter. The egg drop soup had no flavor, maybe even a little salt could improve it, perhaps? The salmon Teriyaki was fried and dried and drenched in some bland brown sauce. Basically paid $48 for some Chinese food containers. So overall the white rice and the Sriracha from my pantry were the only good things. read more

This used to be a nice place. They do deliver and that is still a plus, but the sushi we got from them tonight was awful. Stringy with tendons, my husband gave up and threw it away. We were completely dissatisfied with their response to our complaint. They blamed it on it being cut from the tail of the fish and offered no compensation for a $23 dinner we threw away. There is nothing on the menu about ordering from the tail or any other part of the fish. I really don't care where it came from, it was terrible. After ordering from them for over three years at least once a month I would have thought they would try harder to make up for a bad meal. I will not be ordering from them again. I hope the $23 makes up for losing a long term customer. I wish you could post photos so I could show what it looked like. I need people to read this review!!! I have never had the chinese food here, but I have been going for sushi for easily 8 years. This place is a gem for sushi! My fiance and i came for the lunch special one day and we struggle to get sushi from anywhere else now. We have moved almost 45 minutes away and still make the drive. I think to appreciate this place you have to know sushi, and i am not talking about sushi from the all you can eat or half price joints. Good rule of thumb, if a restaurant is offerring you half price sushi, it probably aint fresh! Anyway, the fish is always fresh at Jade and the sauce and seasoning they serve with their rolls compliments instead of overwhelming them. Best spicy mayo around! The crab rangoon is a favorite as well. The place is family owned and we are recognized and appreciated when we go. I have always had a great experience with the service, and honestly, i am not easy to please. Anyway, reading the reviews makes me worry that people are crushing this place over chinese food and its specialty is sushi. And unfortunately, not many people know what good sushi is. I used the EAT 24 app, tipped thru the app, and the efficiency was fine, sooner than expected, BUT... the food quality was "meh"... I asked for my dish "spicy", and it wasn't spicy even above mild and it was barely luke-warm, and the delivery guy was indifferent. Would never order or go to this place. I've ordered twice before and hoped each time that it would get better, not the case. Good came after 1.5 hours the last time, and it was cold. Food wasn't very good whatsoever. Probably ok for if you're desperate. I called when it was so late, and the woman was extremely rude saying that I should have known (How? Went for lunch with my kids. Not crowded at all but we were seated in the back. Ordered beef with broccoli and chicken with broccoli, egg rolls and wonton soup. Soup was standard. The smell and decor when you first walk in is Chinese restaurant typical. The menu is over priced BUT on the back of the menu is a lunch combo. The lunch combo is served with a soup and rice so I ordered the orange chicken with hot and sour soup and fried rice. My waitress didn't speak English so it was difficult to give special instructions on how I like my food. After she took my order I asked for some noodles and duck sauce. I was told I can't have noodles, I tried to find out why and she repeats my order back to me. Now I am getting annoyed because my needs are not being met! I said to her but I've ordered soup and would like noodles. She came back with no, no have noodles. So now I am utterly confused to the fact they they don't have noodles or is it that I am not permitted to have them. Clearly I won't have the clarified since she does not speak English. I thought to myself do I ask the young boy that speaks English to clear up the confusion as to whether or not I am entitled to noodles or just let it go! Well....I don't need the extra calories. So my soup arrives, good taste but the consistency is gelatinous....gross! Next comes my orange chicken with fried rice, rice is fair and the orange chicken is good and spicy but again with the gelatinous consistency. Let me start by saying that I have been eating at Jade Island for years and have found both their Japanese and Chinese cuisine to be above average. This is why I find the condescending treatment I recently received so disturbing. I ordered sushi and sashimi for 2 for my wife and I on Valentine's Day and the tuna was spoiled. Hey, things happen in the restaurant biz, I understand; I used to be a professional chef myself. This is not the problem. The problem is, when I called to tell them, I was treated condescendingly and told that I had not handled the product properly and was the one responsible for the spoilage. I have been eating, handling (and making my own sushi and sashimi) for over 25 years. As I said, I cooked professionally - I know how to handle raw fish. Long story short: $62 worth of sushi and sashimi went into the garbage disposal and I was not offered a refund or even a perfunctory $25 gift certificate. Ordered take out from jade island for delivery at 6pm yesterday. Time given for order would be one hour which is ok for a Sunday night. After 1.5 hours of waiting I called and they apologized and said it would be at my house in a few minutes. Another hour later so 2.5 hours from when I ordered I got my food delivered and it was cold.
