2 Piece Salted Egg Custard Bun

I decided to come back to check out the restaurant after it changed name. They used to have dim sum, hot pot and noodles in their name and now it's just dim sum and Chinese entrees. Our previous experience was okay. Same thoughts as last time is that the food is not good to justify the price. This time we ordered mostly dim sum items. Some were just standard, while others were bad. The sticky rice was flavorless. The egg yolk inside looks like imitation. The scallion pancakes didn't come with any dipping sauce and the dipping sauce for the dim sum on the table didn't go with it. I asked for soy sauce and got regular soy sauce which didn't work either. The pancake itself was not good like from frozen because it was dried and not freshly made. The jellyfish was weird, the worst I've tasted. Everything was pricey for the quality of food. The service was friendly and attentive though. We ordered their Chinese food before for take out and it was standard. It's pricey compared to what's around. Overall, the restaurant should work on making the food taste better and put forth quality or else they won't last. P.S. the theme and vibe remain interesting. Kungfu panda decor, toy vending machine, Chinese themed furniture, giant fish tank, modern radio top 40 playlist, paper straws and gold on the food.

    Delicious general Tsao chicken

Would give a 4.5 if I could Soup dumplings were the best we've had in the area and the service was outstanding The restaurant was spotless and well decorated and there was an impressive menu selection to choose from. Will happily come back to try more of the menu Prices felt fair for the quality and portion sizes

Excellent food. Excellent service. Sad to see the ramen and hot pot conveyor belt go away though.

    szechuan chicken

Very good Chinese food. Tried Kyng Pao chicken and szechuan chicken. Both really good. For those that like spicy, 2 peppers is not really spicy. Hot & Sour was also very good. And, byob.

Excellent authentic Chinese food. I think it is the best Chinese food in the area. Specially the separate menu in the Chinese language

(Note: if you only want smaller serving of their great, thick noodles, order $4 add-on as a side in place of rice with regular dish.) I always have leftovers to enjoy at home. Dumpling orders are large and shareable. (Always 6 or 8 pieces.) My fave when dining in is amazingly delicious and huge Fish Fillet in Hot and Sour Cabbage Broth. (That's best with rice side to help absorb broth.) So good and healthful to balance the dough density of whatever dumplings you might also order -- they're all great. When getting order to go (or delivered) I like Kung Pao Chicken; it travels well. Order added green veggie dish for sharing -- I lean toward Chinese Broccoli; you'll really want the balance with the delicious dumpling and noodle dishes. Large cocktail menu -- Lychee Martini is so refreshing. Important: cash only for dining in. There's an ATM by their front door. Takeout and delivery accepts credit cards. Most reasonably priced parking nearby (if you don't score a limited street spot) is ParkAmerica at 1040 Race St a few doors down. In fact, it was one of the valet guys in that garage who recommended Dim Sum Garden when I was seeking great Chinese option. (Thank you, Ceasar!)

I just get a feeling that the focus is on pushing alcoholic drinks rather than on the food. The pork buns felt like they were previously frozen and were very sweet. Shrimp dumplings tasted off. Service was never the star but it wasn't so dismissive either. Just a very bad experience and while I won't go back, I also don't want to rate them 1 star as that would be unfair. Their food now is no better than the next guy and that's disappointing. Cash only btw. I write this because they do not post signs and a couple tables had to go grab cash from their ATM machine.

What I also appreciated was that they constantly came by to make sure everything was all right and refilled our water glasses without us having to ask! We came for dinner and had: salt and pepper "squid head" 5/5: lol. i saw this at another table and asked if it was salt and pepper calamari and she replied "squid head" hahahahah. I'm a tentacle kind of gal and not rings so I loved this dish! the salt and pepper with the jalapeños was great but the kicker was the bits of fried garlic on top. yum yum! soy sauce chow mein 4/5: nothing special but not bad. The portion was huge! beef chow fun dry fried 5/5: nice soft noodles, good beef, what else do you need? black bean sauce spare ribs 4/5: real pieces of spare ribs not just fatty; couple of pieces of taro snuck in tho. shrimp egg rolls 5/5: my grandson loved this! deep fried shrimp balls 5/5: large shrimp balls fried just right! pork/shrimp sui mai 5/5: the sui mai was large and it was more shrimp than pork so that shows they weren't trying to be cheap with fillers. salted egg yolk lava bun 5/5: this is our son's favorite dish. so hard to find a place that has the salted egg yolk and makes it steamed perfectly for a "lava" run. This is definitely going to be our go to spot when we're in town visiting. the portions are large and the service and food is great. you often don't find that perfect trifecta! we'll be back! While most people only come here for the afternoon dim sum, the real magic happens on weekend nights when the big room is buzzing with a live band and a party on the stage. It's a mix of large families sharing exotic dishes and adventurous locals enjoying Chinatown-quality Cantonese food without the nightmare of city parking. If you're looking for a deal, the Twin Lobster ($40) is a steal and plenty for two people. Beyond the lobster, I highly recommend their Salt Baked dishes (perfectly seasoned), Beef Stew or Lamb Hotpots, Littleneck Clams with Minced Pork or Walnut Shrimp. The operation here is impressively professional. The staff are attractive and attentive, and they still provide those classic, welcoming touches like salted peanuts, fresh fruit, and complimentary dessert.

Both the dim sum menu and a lunch menu with standard Chinese restaurant fare were available. My party got the general tso's chicken from the lunch menu, and it was exceptional. Good-quality white meat with just enough spice. Heads up, though, the lunch dishes don't come with rice, so order that separately. From the dim sum menu, we ordered braised tripe with ginger & scallion, fried shrimp rolls, shrimp dumplings, steamed chicken buns, and crab meat soup dumplings. The braised tripe was a standout. It was cooked in a light yet flavorful sauce of ginger and scallion with the tripe's own broth. The delicateness of the sauce worked perfectly with the tripe. The dumplings were all great, especially the soup dumplings. The steamed chicken bun was the only thing I'd skip. It was on the heavier side, and the filling was just okay. The bill came out to about what I expected for the amount of food we ordered--$65 before tip. The service was friendly, and taking our order and getting the food was quick. After the food arrived, though, it was a little difficult to flag down a server to order more and later to get the check. Still, it was understandable given how busy they were, constantly collecting orders and putting out food. Overall, Canton Palace is a great find for anyone looking for this style of Chinese food outside of the usual New York neighborhoods.
