I haven't gone here for hibachi in a long time but i do not remember the quality of the food being this bad and obviously the prices are absurd (yes i know, inflation but Im considering this). But if someone is going to pay at least 32-50 for hibachi the quality should be up to par. I got steak and salmon hibachi for about 40- the salmon was two very thin slices and steak about a single serving size. One of the problems with this price range is they will charge you extra for fried rice (isnt that the reason go for hibachi?), extra for "garlic noodles"- that was 50% soy sauce. Dumps a load of lomein on the griddle and gave it a soy sauce bath, no garlic. The food was extremely salty, the sauces they also gave were poorly made- watery and extremely salty. Hibachi sauces should be gingery, garlicky, a little thick and flavorful. Most places will also give a creamy sauce, they gave something with cheap hot mustard in it and something else that was also watery and salty it was not appealing at all. The only positive is the cook was really nice, but you guys need to work on whatever recipes you have currently and re-evaluate the pricing for the quality youre giving out. The food was very delicious, the flavor was definitely there. The only thing about the food that I wish they were clear about were the sushi rolls. They were both cooked/warm rolls which I wasn't expecting from the description. The crazy maki and volcano, pictures shown below. I was actually surprised that they did a hibachi show for just us, they were efficient and cooked the food really well. I'm not a big show person so it didn't really care for the theatrics but my bf said they could've been more energetic. But the other table, which was more full, did have a more energetic chef. They gave a lot of food, the portions were definitely big! And my bf thought the Scorpion bowl was delicious and strong, so definitely try that out if you like mixed drinks. A friend and I went to to Tomo on 02/18/2024 for a nice lunch. We ordered the Blackened Tuna, Hamachi Kama , Spicy Tartar Tower, Spicy Tuna Gyoza, Pork Short ribs and Grilled Chilean Sea Bass for appetizers. The Blackened Tuna was the best ! It was fresh, seared and cooked to perfection. The Spicy Tuna Gyoza were a little over fried as you can see from the pictures but well within normal limits. The inside was warm and tasty. The Pork Short Ribs were tender and sticky with a tasty soy glaze. All in all everything we ordered was delicious. The only caveat was the Hamachi Kama was not quite as fatty as I was hoping for. IT was very good with some rice though. Okay, I like this place. I like it better than the place down the road. But I do have a few concerns. The service... this is good, but not great. Like a lot of businesses, I wonder if finding good help is tough? Lately (in the past couple of weeks), the waitstaff seems stressed. I've experienced slow service from them. They're trying, but it just doesn't seem like they can catch up to all their work. The chefs... the food itself is good, but the chefs seem like they just want to get through the service. Not at all interested in putting on a good performance. This last guy forgot to cook the onions (with the whole show that goes with it). The whole table was talking about it right in front of him. The food... the sushi was good, flavorful. The grilled food was as good as ever (other than no onions). There is no real complaint about the food here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere... the carpet is dated and could probably use either a replacement or change to a new flooring type. I stopped in for a quick lunch on a Monday afternoon. I went into the bar. It was quiet, but there were a group of 5 also at the bar. It took a few minutes before I was acknowledged, but once they did, the service was good. I ordered a Mai Tai, salad, California roll, and Salmon Sushi. It appears that they have "cleaned up" with new dark gray paint on walls (with no artwork), remodeled bathrooms, and new dishes (none chipped), and chefs with clean uniforms. The service is still VERY rushed. I barley got to look at the menu with the waitress keeps coming back to badger me. The dining room is very dark and its hard to see the menu. I could easily sub noodles for rice this time so thats a positive. The hibachi chef was the standard and not too interactive with our large group. THe portions a huge and salty. Very salty. Starting with what I'd say was the best rice I ever had in my entire life to the filet and scallops. Unreal!!! Chef was phenomenal too!! Super personable and great with the kids also!! Went for sushi and drinks again on Saturday. My wife and I ordered spicy tuna hand rolls, salmon hand rolls and shrimp tempura maki rolls. The sushi chefs work extreme hard and put great detail into making each roll. Everything was absolutely outstanding. Everything tastes fresh and it is one of the top places to get sushi in my opinion. For drinks I order the Mai Tai ( best Mai Tai I've ever had and it's not even close!!) and my wife ordered a gray goose dirty martini. She said it was outstanding. Place is getting run down and the chefs don't really make a ton of effort to put on a show other than a little fireball to start and the infamous volcano. Hibachi Chef training school day #1 stuff. they don't really put on a real show which is really part of the experience and price of admission if you know what I mean. Floors are dingy, tables are chipped and bathrooms were full of writing on the walls and cleaning products including mops standing up in plain view. Mens room was so dark (bulbs out) that I had to use my phone to find the "proper place to stand." Price vs. quality/quantity was not great and this was my second time here. To me, all of the food kind of tasted the same. The scallops were very small, cut in half in the back and dried out when they were dropped on my plate. Honestly, I thought the fried rice was the best part of the meal. Nobody in my group is a drinker but we saw a few drinks with flames coming out of them so maybe the food tastes better if you have a buzz going on?
