I first came to Jade, albeit the other location, because of a Yelp elite event. Thank you! Today's visit: Alexandria was a delight -- I told her to get my hair off my neck and to make it cute and she more than delivered! I got a bixie (between a bob and a pixie), plus an included shoulder massage or mini facial. I went with the mini facial, which left my face feeling clean, steamed, and tension free, and tangentially left my lower back wishing for the same treatment (this sure has been a year, peeps). If I had an evening appointment I'd have taken Alexandria up on the offer of a beverage instead of just tea or coffee; there's a drink of the week and this week's mistletoe margarita sounded good, except that it was 9a when I arrived. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with the fragrant smell of Aveda and Oribe. Both the most welcoming smells ever. Then the friendly staff approached and asked what they could help with. I let them know I was there for my appointment. I was asked if I wanted a complementary facial or neck and shoulder massage, I chose the latter. Then I was asked if I would like any complementary tea, water, infused water or red or white wine. I love that they offer a variety. The sitting area is so beautiful and comfortable. While waiting I was asked if they could help with anything while I waited but I was satisfied. I saw Annie for highlight and a cut. Absolutely the most impeccable salon I have been to. So clean and you can tell that the staff takes all measures to ensure a cleanliness environment. I would highly recommend this salon to a one of any hair types. I overheard the stylist next to me discussing locks and braiding. Annie did amazing work with asking what I preferred for my color and style and explained and exceeded my expectations. Awful management! They would not respect medical exemptions for mask so I had to go almost a year to wait and see if things would change. I called to see if they could give me the numbers to my color so that I could share it with a new stylist I found somewhere else that would do my hair. The manager was so rude she said we cannot give out that info but if you have a reputable stylist she can match it. No crap!! I know that but damn you would think they would be nice enough since they had discriminated against me to at least give me the numbers they were using since o like the color! It was like I was robbing gold from them.....not! Amanda on the third go round didn't do my color right so they gave me another appointment and made it right in the past. I absolutely love everything about this salon! It's super clean, the staff are always helpful, and you just feel good being there. The new owners have done so much to make the salon fresh and hip and consistently pour their hearts into the salon, their staff, and their customers. As far as stylist, I'm partial to Danielle because she is the best all around. Her talents know no bounds, and she is the most positive beam of light. I purchased a couple of products a few days ago and was told by the person helping me that all products can be returned if not right for your hair after using. Well the products did not work for me. I returned them with 4 days of purchase and was told no returns. The associate spoke to someone ( a manager) and come back and said she would make an exception! An exception? Aveda needs to be clear on their product return policy. ( The website said all retail products are returnable within 2 weeks). I won't be back. read more

This review is for a cut and color (highlights) and the owner commented on somebody's old post saying it was dated-but sadly 3 years later and this salon still isn't getting happy customers. I went in for a cut and was talked out of what i wanted- so i got a trim which was uneven and when i went to my second visit(to fix the hair color) the lady assured me it was fine. I wasn't gonna fight the issue....if you can't get it right the first time then lets move on. After i got my uneven trim i got highlights....which didn't show because the sections were to small/tiny. My hair looked exactly the same color. I was unhappy and they asked me back to fix it. Fine. (3 hours wasted) Second visit. She told me the color i wanted could not me achieved- when i threw the idea of just making the sections thicker she still told me it wouldn't be the way i wanted. I can't believe i got shot down from my suggestions when she herself wasn't giving me any. I said a couple other ideas when she said she could ombre my hair. Fine. The ombre was not an ombre but highlights that look grown out and i needed a touch up. If i could spin my head around i could probably done a better job myself. The rinse didn't fully take to the bleach areas either so i have that going on for me too. I left- unhappy- and with really dry processed uneven hair. I have been using a conditioning mask and some oils on my hair and waiting patiently to get the color fixed at another salon. This review isn't meant to be mean or anything but helpful to those looking for a salon in the area. And this was MY experience. Good luck. read more

A bit of a back story: I am a natural brunette. I'm not a dark brown, but a light-medium, depending on the time of year. I dyed my hair red in college, and I kept it red for around seven years. When I moved to NC a couple years ago, I had a very hard time finding a hair stylist. I ended up settling with a lady around 30 mins from my apartment. I went to her for probably six months or so. Everything was going well, and then I decided that I wanted to try and take my hair back to it's natural colour. She put a colour on my hair, and told me that it was close to my natural colour. I'm not going to get into that too much, because this review is not about her, but the fact of the matter is, I was unhappy with this colouring. This took place on August 13. A few days later, I had horrible flaky dandruff, and a very burnt, very itchy scalp. On Monday, August 29, I was browsing the internet to find a salon that was open on Monday, as so many of them are closed on that day. I happened across Jade Aveda, and then I remember one of my coworkers saying very positive things about them, so I decided to give them a call. My very first interaction with Jade Aveda was with the receptionist for this location. She was so sweet. We had a brief conversation about what I wanted, and she scheduled me for a consultation, for the same day, to discuss my hair aspirations, and possibly get me in, if time permitted. I told her exactly what I wanted. I explained that I wasn't a very big fan of the dark hair colour, and I wanted to go back lighter. I showed her pictures of the way my hair used to look, and told her how I currently wanted it to look. She told me she thought the colour I wanted was very doable and realistic, but would be a process. She also had solutions for two of my concerns; my eyebrows and the concern of root upkeep. She told me we would tint my eyebrows, and she said we would keep my roots darker, so that i wouldn't have to dye it as often. I was skeptical about the darker roots, but I'd seen it on a few other people, and was willing to give it a go. We had to foil my entire head to pull the dark colour out. It took a long time, and the foils were so heavy on my head, but it's all apart of the process. After the foils sat for a bit, I went back to the hair wash station, where she gave me a very relaxing hand massage. She rinsed the product out of my hair, all the white mentioning how good she thought it looked. She shampooed and conditioned my hair. While I was sitting there, she went ahead and did my eyebrows- the tint and the wax. She had good time management, and that is something I always appreciate. After I was dyed, washed, tinted, and waxed, we went ahead back to her chair, and I knew immediately, even though it was wet, that I loved it. After it was all dried and styled, it looked exactly as I imagined it. I'm so pleased with my results, even days later. Not to mention, I'm not sure exactly which of the things she did fixed my dandruff, but my scalp is no longer flaking. Also, because I was a new customer, I got to book a free shampoo at the end of my stay for sometime in the next two weeks. I went ahead and did that. As a side note, several times while I was there Patience was asking (who I think was the manager of the salon) several questions about my hair, and the course of action we were going to take. Instead of feeling like Patience was unsure, I instead was comforted by the collaboration. I only mention this because I've been in a few similar situations where it made the stylist come across as insecure or unskilled. All in all, I'm very pleased with my results and I look forward to continuing my hair journey with this salon. read more

Unfortunately it took a horrible experience for me to post my first Yelp review but here goes. I had my haircut once at Jade Aveda and was satisfied. Men don't usually pay $40+ for a cut but thought I would give it a try. I set up my next appointment. I came in from a long week of travel and decided to take my daughter with me to my appointment. Post-cut ice cream and toy store activities were planned. I never take my daughter with me but thought it would be fun. She had her iPad with clear instructions how to behave once we arrived. Upon arrival the attendant checking me in informed me no kids allowed. I appealed to the manager. She also informed me I would need to find arrangements for my daughter. Not being ever informed of the policy I was surprised and angry. As for a one time exception...no way...they would not budge. When we walked out my daughter asked what she had done wrong. If this was the store policy fine...how about telling someone before they show up. How about giving me a cut and politely telling me then. What has this world come to? read more

I have been going to Jade Aveda for over 6 years now. It is a wonderful salon: Kind, attentive, and experts with hair coloring, cutting, and styling. I have to say I was pretty shocked at some of the bad reviews and wonder what the other side of the story may be. So, since I can't hear that - let me tell you my experience: Salon - fun but still peaceful, modern music without being obnoxious, comfortable chairs and hair washing stations (even for short people!). Hair Color - Gorgeous color which I have done every 6 weeks (roughly 50 visits in the time I lived here). I have had my hair red, platinum blond and everything in between. high lights, low lights, no lights. The color was always perfect but once (1 in 50 is not a bad record). I told the stylist that I didn't love it and she changed it on the spot. She was gracious, not offended, seamlessly and professionally made the "on the spot" change; I walked out loving it. Cut and style - Open minded stylists. Although my hair is currently at my collar bone, it has been as short as a pixie cut. I like to change it up - ALOT! So, 9 times out 10 I want a different cut than I have when I go in. Going back up to the math - almost 50 different styles! Yep, there have been a couple (2 -but who's counting) of styles I didn't like, but each time, the stylists were kind, gracious, and professional. Lets face it - Women - with our expectations of Hair, that is a REALLY GOOD RECORD!!! Stylists - I use more than one! Yep, they are that professional. I started with Brittney (who is amazing) but my work schedule got crazy and it was easier for me to get in with Amanda (who is also amazing). Since then things have changed back and forth between them - based on my work - and they really don't mind. It gives my the flexibility I need for my schedule, without awkwardness. And its nice just to change up the style of cut sometimes. I know this has been wayyyy to long, sorry. But, we women are really picky about our hair. Every once in a while, no matter how amazing the stylist is, there will be a style I don't like - I can live with that - as long as the salon facilitates a comfortable atmosphere to adjust things when that happens. Jade Aveda handles it so well, I keep going back year after year. I wouldn't try somewhere new if you paid me.... Oh and, the products really do smell great! read more

Love all Aveda salons, including this one. You get a scalp massagr, hand massage, and soothing tea or water to start. Then the service is skilled and you know you'll look and feel great when done! I have not had color services here, so can't speak to that. But Molly does a great job as a stylist. And she's friendly. They have a system where you rate your stylist in an online survey, and they can earn promotions to a higher rank over time and with great reviews. I like that. Creates accountability and gives them credit for gaining experience. read more

I'm writing a review for customer service only - although I've been to a few Aveda salons for dyes and cuts, I only went to Jade to exchange a product I purchased online. I am very pleased with the customer service I received. I was warmly welcomed as soon as I stepped into the salon. I didn't like the product I purchased online and wanted to exchange for the dry shampoo refill. She empathized with me about the product I didn't like and understood my reason for return. She quickly located the product I wanted to buy. I also asked about a product for detangling my hair. She had a suggestion right away, and let me know the cost of each size and which one was a better value. She also gave me a few styling tips of both products. First time here this morning. Cameron was awesome. Decided to just do a shampoo and blow dry. We had a few minutes to talk and just get an idea of what to do with styling my hair. First time at the salon they give you a quick tour and then get you to fill out a little form to register you in the salon. With the shampoo part a nice scalp massage and then had a mini facial with a hot towel. It was so relaxing. read more

I have been going to this salon for a few years now and have had my hair styled and eyebrows waxed on an (admittedly) inconsistent basis, but have always had wonderful experiences. Starting from the receptionists, I've encountered nothing but politeness and a willing to please. The stylists have always listened to my needs and always take the safest route of what I want first, and then ask me if I would like to change anything about what they've done. They will take as much time as necessary, never seem to be in a hurry to get to the next client, and are nothing but patient and understanding. By the time there is a final product, I have always been 100% satisfied. I don't have any acquaintances that have visited Jade Aveda, so I can't tell you about their experiences. I am a customer, and I will be coming back for years and will continue to recommend their services to my friends and family. read more

Before my appointment I did some research and was scared because of some of the not so good reviews. I decided to still give it a shot and I wasn't disappointed at all! Marlee did an amazing job on my highlights and trim! The color turned out exactly how I was imagining and looks really natural! Not friendly to new mothers... I bring my 2 week old who is completely dependent on me and far too young for childcare asleep in a carrier and I'm asked to leave for safety reasons. Updated response... "Occasionally, in the service industry you have someone you can't make happy." ------ True. But this goes beyond the subjectiveness of your services. Yes, you can't make everybody happy with the service that they get, but your refusal to right the wrong that was done is the real issue here. Requiring me to pay for the services to resolve the problem is what the initial complaint is really about. This was not resolved in a fair manner. It is not in my nature to lash out against people's livelihoods however it would be irresponsible not to share this horrible business practice with others. Jade Aveda does not get it. I'm sure there are many people who are happy with their work but beware when there's a conflict. ____________________ I recently visited Jade Aveda in Greensboro for what was supposed to be highlights and will NOT be returning for another service. The highlights came out darker than I had requested and upon my dissatisfaction, I called Jade a few days later to discuss how this could be corrected. Much to my surprise and disgust, I spoke with one manager who invited me back to the salon only to pay FULL price for the correction. Unacceptable. To make things worse, a day and a half later I received a call from a different manager. Upon learning who she was, I became excited that there was going to be a positive resolution. Only to find out, she was only interested in reiterating the salon's policy. There was no effort to resolve the matter and it was clearly stated to me I would not be invited back to correct the color complimentary. Unbelievable. read more

Don't ever spend your time or money here!!! The brain trust here linked two gift cards so that my sister was able to spend the money on my gift card. Neither my sister nor I knew how much the gift cards were for (Christmas gift), so she didn't realize she was credited with my balance as well as her own. When I tried to use mine, they treated me like a thief even though I was prepared to spend over $100 on top of my card. They also told my grandmother that she wouldn't be able to afford shampoo, and wouldn't tell her the price. My mother normally spends about $100 per month at Jade, and their piss poor reaction has brought an end to that revenue stream. I didn't even care about the money as much as I wanted acknowledgement that they screwed up. Instead, they treated my family and me like trash (we're actually well dressed and well spoken ladies). I could have handled the gift card debacle and not made a scene, but when they made my Nana feel bad I wanted to make sure people know how heinous the customer service is at Jade. read more

The jury's still out but my stylist tries hard to please me and listens to what I want. She has a good memory of what we talked about on my last visit which is nice. I have bleached hair and needed to get a root touch up today. It had been a few months since getting my roots done last, but in the combined decade I've had bleached hair this has never been a problem. I always wait this long. My stylist had no idea what to do, and acted confused the entire time. She had to get two other stylists help. I even had to call my previous stylist to ask what she used on my hair, lol! Come on, it's just a root touch up! She had to wash it four times, blow dry it twice, do all sorts of extra processing, and my hair is still a bit brassy. Was told it was basically my fault for "waiting so long" between getting touch ups. Again, this has never been an issue with me, ever. So now I have really over processed, dry hair, an irritated scalp, brassy roots, and am out of $90. Oh also this all took literally 4 hours. 1 star because the facility is nice. Staff was friendly. I was just thrown off by the cluelessness, and am very displeased with my hair. There is no reason why something as simple as a root touch up should be made this complicated or take four hours. I won't be back, and cannot recommend going here for bleached hair. read more

My experience was awesome, I have been there for a mint body treatment and a facial, the facial in particular was terrific, I have had a number of facials including two at Grandover Resort and I have to say that Chelsea's facial was far better than anything I have had done in the past I believe it is not just the products that smell and feel wonderful but also the kindness and genuine concern shown by the staff.
