This is one of my favourite places of all time. My grandparents have been taking me here since I've been a child. I am now 31 years old and its still just as great as it's always been. Probably the best fish fry you could ask for as well as a lot of other great menu options. It's smaller inside but the atmosphere is great. Even though it is smaller on the inside, you somehow still get plenty of privacy at your table. The bar is amazing and the staff is friendly. I live right around the corner from Jade's and my parents are their biggest fans. My boyfriend decided that he wanted a fish fry last night on the first fish fry of lent. I called at 7 to order and was told I wouldn't be able to pick it up until 7:50. A little outlandish, but sure- I could kind of understand. I arrive at 7:50 and was told my order was not ready. The place was packed sure, but it was clear there were issues. Long story short, I waited on top of the original 50 minutes for ONE fish fry- another half hour at the bar. I was not offered any sort of gratuity for being inconvenienced. While I was sitting there, they started telling people they were out of fish. Whether they were or not, that's not the point. You should know at this point that you're a popular fish fry restaurant; if you can't handle the demand- don't bother. You've lost a customer for good. I will never order from here again. On top of this, the fish fry was almost exclusively breading and the coleslaw was disgusting. What a waste of my time AND money. read more

The Fish at Jades is fantastic. The only complaint, which actually keeps me from going there more often, is that the dining room is uncomfortably hot! The bar room has a/c in it but not the dining room. Would it hurt for them to invest in a simple window a/c unit to make it more comfortable. We might have stuck around for another drink tonight(ie: more profit for the business) if it hadn't been unbearably hot. AlI that I wanted to do, after eating, was get the heck out of there. We most likely will not be back until it cools down outside. I mentioned it to the woman at the bar on the way out but she did not seem to care. read more

my wife and i stopped in for a mid afternoon snack, we had an entertainment coupon for buy1,get1 sandwich. we ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks. I gave the coupon to the waitress and a person I believe is the owner came over to the table and said the restaurant has changed ownership but he would take $3.00 off the bill to kind of honor the coupon. the coupon should have saved me $10.00, not $3.00. my only concern is after reading the many reviews,i don't believe there is new ownership.. buy the way, the sandwiches and French frys were excellent and I will "maybe" return. the food we saw being served did look good read more

You can't not come back home to Buffalo and have their famous fish fry!!! Homemade potato salad or German potato salad, macaroni salad, coleslaw and of course fresh rye bread baked locally. We recently had food catered for a corporate retirement party. The owner Mike personally delivered the food and the food was wonderful. Everyone continously asked where the food was catered from and complimented how delicious the food is (the mash potatoes and gravy are to die for as well as the moist roasted chicken). Old time neighborhood place that is typically WNY. I have been for lunch and sinner on Fridays recently. The hook here is their fish and homemade soup. The fish fry is beer battered, but it only has a very light, almost transparent coating which is delicious, and not too greasy. i don't kow how they keep it so thin. Well done! The salads are homemade and include macaroni, potato and German potato. All are excellent. It is $12 for the fish fry, but you go away full. They also have at least 5 types of baked fish. The Mediterranean fish is marinaded in Greek Dressing and olives, tomatos, and green peppers. Delish! They also offer cajun hot & mild, and regular baked. We could get a table Friday at lunch, but it was impossible at 4:45 pm on a Friday. Be advised. Service is very friendly and efficient. read more

I used Yelp to find this gem . We ordered 2 reg fish fries and one yellow pike and one Mediterranean style steamed fish. Everything was on point. Even the salads were fantastic . All made fresh. Except the fries we frozen . The only thing I would say needs improving upon is the tarter sauce. They used Kraft brand and it's not good. Everything else was wonderful! We will be getting all our Friday Fish fries from Jades. Can't wait to try other things on the menu. Keep up the great work. read more

Went there once. They sat me by the door in the winter and every time the door opened I froze. The fish fry was not to my taste as I don't like to see the stripes on the fish... the batter is so thin you can count the stripes. Eek. But some love it so it's all a matter of taste. If you like a light batter or breading, cooked on the light side... this is your place. Not mine. read more

Very dirty! I enjoy a good greasy spoon restaurant but not this one. I didn't even wanna eat my food everything was so dirty it turned my stomach. My wife had a beef on weck and it was rubbery. I had the ribs and would have rather have had a Mc Rib. Save your money don't waste it here. read more

Whoever is writing these reviews must be getting paid by this place! My fiancé and I took a friend here for dinner (none of us had ever been here) after the lies of reviews saying how great it was, how amazing the seafood was and how great the service was. We showed up on a weekend evening and the place was DEAD! We were the only ones there! Our friend got their duck soup and he couldn't even finish it it was SO bad (looked really nasty too) and he has never not finished something. Even if it's not great he will finish it ....but not their soup. I got the fish fry and my fish was mushy and gross like it had been sitting in old oil for too long! It was terrible and the tarter sauce came in an almost ketchup bottle that was 99% mayo and 100% warm! Do they even refrigerate it?! The salads that came with it were disgusting too! Then for dinner our friend and my fiancé got their roast beef and it was soggy, the buns were super wet and wayyy tooo salty! It was nothing special at all.. and the bill was almost $60!! Not decent prices in my opinion. The server was not great either....she wasn't overly friendly, and she seemed ditzy and stuck up.. and the ambiance, or lack there of, was depressing! Old, out dated, almost dusty looking! We will never go back and I don't recommend this place to anyone! read more

Jades Is a great place if you know what to ask for, during the week they have great dinner specials and delicious polish food, Czarnina soup,stuffed Glomki and potato pancakes are just like grandma used to make. On fridays the restaurant is transformed from a slow mom n' pop operation to a bustling sea food paradise. Best thing to get on a friday is a sea food platter or baked cajun fish very delicious. The drinks were reasonably priced and so was the food. Quality of service was decent not great I didn't see a single server under 50 which isn't great but not necessarily a bad thing.The outside of the restaurant is also in desperate need of an overhaul more lighting and better signage. I recommend this as a great place to take family out to dinner but not for a group of young drinkers. read more

My girlfriend and I stopped here while searching for a new place to eat in the Depew area. The atmosphere was outdated, very dusty, and dimly lit. The bar tender gave us a strange look while we were waiting by the door to be seated, and didn't tell us to go up any further to get to the hostess. The air conditioning was either broken or non-existent, as it was nearly 85 degrees inside. My girlfriend was very excited to try the bison burger (one of her favorite dishes to get while we're out), but about five minutes after we ordered she was notified that they no longer serve this. The burger is still on the menu, but they don't serve it??? She ended up going with a turkey club and I got the shrimp trio. Both dishes were above average, and had a decent amount of food for the money. Our waitress was also very friendly and quickly refilled our drinks. Which was needed because of the heat. The food and the friendliness of our waitress were the redeeming factors, but we will not return because of the dated atmosphere and extreme heat. Also, I think the restaurant needs to be managed better due to the rudeness of the bar tender, and the menu items not being accurate. read more

We decided to try Jade's after a recommendation from a young friend who used to work there. I see why he doesn't work there anymore. We used the Restaurant Gift Certificate. When we arrived, the parking lot was in disarray, unkept, ripped up. Walked through dark front door, looked at the bar, we thought -OK, we'll give it a try. Hostess (the owner), told us to sit anywhere. First thoughts, she is rude, the place had dirty plastic tableclothes. That should have been our first sign to get out. Here comes the food..... the bread was stale to start, had stuffed banana peppers (very cold) had to take back to get heated, main dinner we both had polish platters. I haveto say, again, everything was cold, except the potato pancake which was burnt. The stuffed cabbage was disgusting, has some sort of brown sauce on top, the sausage was not cooked, everthing just tasted bad. Not a good dining experience, will never go back. Save your money. Oh, and $6.00 for a beer. This is wny they offer the restaurant certificate, no business. EMpty for a Saturday. read more
