The most amazing customer service ever. We walked in and were greeted like we were family. This was our first time in, and when the owners found that out, we were offered samples of the chicken salad, grilled chicken, and rice pudding. We were immediately sold. We then ordered the stinger sub and the chicken souvlaki sub with a side of the chicken salad. The food was 2000/10. We will be back again and again. What an amazing experience. Willy and Mae have brought that great family NY deli to Buffalo and love that it's so close for me to go! I have been coming here since 2015 and consider it a staple to my diet! Growing up I often visited family in Long Island and we'd stop at the delis for lunch daily and drive back to Buffalo with bread rolls to sustain us until we could get out there again. Something about a NY deli- they just do it right! My go to's from here are the grilled chicken salads (cheaper AND fresher than wegmans, especially for the size), these single handedly helped my mom and myself stick to a keto diet we did. We would order without the cheese and pita and balsamic vinaigrette and it would leave us full and satiated for lunch! I highly do recommend try it greek style as well! My other fave is the turkey bacon club on a roll! It comes in other sizes as well but I love a fresh NY roll! I will start this as I always do by saying that I do not give out five stars unless I am really blown away. So this is one of those rare moments where five stars is deserved. What a great deli. When I walked in they had a lot of options. The guy behind the counter asked for my order and I told him I wasn't sure as there was so much to choose from. He asked me if it was my first time coming in and I told him it was. He told me to come down to the other end of the counter so I followed his lead. He then told me I needed to try the chicken salad so he gave me a sample. It was delicious. Then he gave me a sample of the rice pudding. Also delicious. Then he introduced himself as Willie he was the owner. He also introduced May his wife. He introduced me to the chefs and the other guy behind the counter. Willie told me their story and how they came to be in this location. Willie was very personable and made me feel right at home. I ordered the 8 inch chicken salad sandwich and some rice pudding to go. They do have a very nice seating area as well but I had to keep moving. That was a mistake. The sandwich was hard to eat without making a mess but it was really good. I will be back every time I am close by. Best deli I've been to in this area. The owner, May, was super sweet and so kind. She allowed us to sample the chicken salad which is their best seller. Of course I had to buy it after one taste! Sahlen's ham is very affordable and so tasty as well but they offer so many different types of deli meats. This deli offers a full menu for breakfast and lunch. Although I didn't sample any of the sandwiches today, from looking at them being prepped they looked amazing! They use costanzo's rolls so you can't go wrong there! The sandwiches and subs here are INCREDIBLE. Such friendly, friendly people run the place too -- it's a treat to go in. If it's your first time, let them know and if they are not busy, they'll take some time to really show you what the place is about. Their big specialty is the chicken salad sandwich. I had a chance to try just the chicken salad and it was AMAZING. The onions leave a great crunch and the poultry tastes fresh and is seasoned very well. It practically melts in your mouth. Supposedly, they sell 30-40 pounds of it per day! They were closed when I pulled up, but May -- one of the owners let me in and made me an amazing chicken cutlet sandwich with tomato, onion and mayo. The chicken cutlets were once again super tender, lightly breaded and tasted perfectly. All 3 owners moved from NYC to start this NY deli about 4 years ago and they do a great job running it. I can't wait to be back and try more of their menu and to have an entire chicken salad sandwich all to myself. If you haven't been and are a fan of sandwiches/subs, you HAVE TO give this place a try. Our order was messed up as we asked for a patty melt with American cheese received swiss. No biggie, Right? But when they packaged our 3 soups up, they did not tighten the lids down. So when he got back to the office expecting hot soup we had a bagful of 3 different kinds of soup. Thank goodness it had not soiled my employees new car.. If they hand you a sample, take the sample. TAKE ALL THE SAMPLES. You will be left in a conundrum, but it's ok. All the things are good. I chose the grilled chicken melt (because samples) and my husband chose the chicken salad melt (because, you know). Can I tell you, I was so satisfied because not only was the delicious sampled chicken on my plate but it was loving stacked with mozzarella, cold crispy lettuce and slightly toasted warm Italian loaf bread. Oh my word, such a completely rewarding decision! Anyway, the owners were just as delightful! I felt as if I was welcomed into their home. When I'm getting sent hate mail from one guy with 0 reviews on Yelp and patronizing "persuasive" mail from another guy with only 1 review which is a 5 star of Depew Deli, all concerning this place, I get suspicious that it's not actually coming from random people. It's enough to make me reduce it to 1 or 2 stars. The "persuasive" guy assures me he's not an owner or employee. (Shrug) Since I wrote the review below (but before I got any "persuasion" from anyone), I've come back (because everyone in real life kept telling me to) and tried 2 or 3 different things. A very average Chicken Parm. A very average cold cut sandwich. Something else I don't even remember except that I didn't like it much. Very average is all I can really say. Nothing here does it for me. I don't find their sandwiches to be that good. I don't get the massive hype. I've tried 1,000 different delis. Some were worse than this. Most were better. I fully support family businesses and I'm glad everyone is enjoying their food madly, but I highly doubt this is ever going to be my thing. My things are the Sinatra at Marco's On Maple, the Hangover at Joe's, a lot of stuff at Johnny C's, and all the Italian Delis in Hoboken, as well as the Caruso's Proscuitto Sandwiches on Hertel. If you are even 10% as good as any of those, you will get 4 stars or even 5, from me. Depew Deli gets 3, and only because it's family owned. I have to say this is one of those places which I do not understand the fascination and obsession from so many of my friends regarding. It's a clean, spacious, airy, bright deli with some of the friendliest service around, but given that I judge places solely on food, I can't possibly give this deli more than a 3/5, although for service it would get a 5. The only thing I've tried is the thing that everyone and their mother tells you to try which is the Chicken Salad Sandwich. The bread was fluffy and good, but that's where the love affair ended. The chicken salad was utterly tasteless and bland and boring and honestly inedible to me. I didn't finish it and would never get it again. The person I was eating with liked it a bit more than I did, but not much. I could understand if this was just one person's fave sandwich, but the fact that the place makes it their selling point and that everyone that loves this place, seems to love it because of this sandwich, perplexes me. Clearly it is just "not my thing", but I find it amazing that it would be anyone's thing. Nevertheless, it's a matter of taste and just because this is not to my taste, doesn't mean it won't be to yours. I will have to go back and give some other items a try, but when everyone is raving about one thing (including the sign out front, and the owners and employees), and that one thing is so underwhelming, it's hard to expect other things to be better. But perhaps if I order some things that I know I like at other delis, that I may be able to bump this place up to a 4 or 5. But since this place seems so shiny and new, I will say what they say in India: there's always room for a New Delhi. read more

BOARS HEAD BRAND MEATS AND CHEESES Boars Head brand deli meats are epic. If I were Christopher Columbus, I would have sailed all seven of those seas to find a water route that led to Boars Head meats. But I don't have to sail anywhere to go to the Depew Deli & Grocery, and neither do you; you just have to drive down Broadway. I was extremely impressed with the huge menu selection, prepared meals and various salad dishes for sale. It was actually a little bit overwhelming, and so I floundered and got a familiar sandwich: roast beef, lettuce, tomato and onion w/ mayo & provolone. Now, a cold sub like this is a favorite go-to of mine when I'm hungry, but it's rarely impressive wherever I get it. This sub was impressive. It was so good that it caused me to question scripture. I began to not comprehend why Jesus would waste so much time eating crusts of bread and fish when he could have turned that nonsense into Boars Head roast beef subs from Depew Deli. The service here was fantastic. The smiling, friendly woman behind the counter went over-the-top for me. I stopped in to pick my sick wife up some soup, and so I got some Italian Wedding. The lady (who's name I wish I knew) first offered me crackers and I declined. She then asked if I wanted some mozzarella cheese for the soup, in which I accepted. She gave me the whole bag of cheese just because. I wish the soup selection was a little deeper. All that was available was the Italian Wedding, which was fantastic, and broccoli cheddar. We started like all the others with the chicken salad subs. We both got one with homemade soup , the chicken soup is just like the way we make it.... Hot pastrami subs and their Reuben on Rye were up there as one of the best I've ever had. Warning: if you give in to the samples they give you, you'll never make it past the chicken salad!! LOL It is the best I've ever tasted. Their Rice pudding is something we took home for later with coffee. Extremely clean place, walking in this was the first thing I had noticed. The owner "Willie" was wonderful from his peppy positive attitude to the quality of food he prepares! They have daily lunch specials and homemade salads and antipasto etc. They have a flat screen television and some tables in the deli area which is a very decent size! They are currently in the process of expanding to accommodate more people with a large dining area! (Freshly painted and hardwood floor!) Everything about this place screams quality guess service! The owner talked about how he moved from NYC and how the "famous chicken salad" is a top seller. I mean I could not believe how friendly the owners were! They gave samples (without me asking) of the homemade chicken salad and chicken cutlet! Absolutely delicious!! They use Costanzo's sub rolls which is a bonus in my books.
