Had a great experience at Jak. It's a part of the 4 restaurant line across from the Assi plaza on Old Peachtree, next to Gu Thai. The host/server was very friendly and quick and made sure everything was well with us. She knew a lot about all the different drinks and made good recommendations. We went for lunch, which was 12 pieces for $58 per person. It ended with the hand roll as the last, 13th piece. Considering the price, taste and quality were pretty good. It was the perfect amount for me, but with each piece being on the smaller end, it may not be as filling for others. The chef was pretty quick with making each of the pieces. My friend and I made a reservation for dinner here at 7pm. There are 10 seats total. The whole experience took about an hour and a half for $78 15 course omakase. I'm so sure I only received 14 courses because I thought I took a photo of each piece but maybe I forgot one. Some pieces had too much wasabi in my opinion but each piece tasted fresh and good quality but didn't really like wow me as much as I'd expect. I also got a sunset peach cocktail. Quality/freshness was probably an 8/10, setting 9/10 (relaxing environment), service 8/10 (we felt rushed... omakase courses are generally timed to be plated after you finish the prior course, but the chef doubled up a couple lol). I'd say the main things that could be improved are creativity (super basic offerings, seems like menu doesn't change much but idk if I'm right about that) and using less wasabi for some of the nigiri. Came in on a quiet Sunday needing a pick me up after having a rough day! I've always wanted to try an omakase so I found one on a whim and I couldn't have been more pleased. When I first arrived, a large party was leaving before and straggling behind so the host asked if I could wait in my car until they got the bar reset. She gave me a call maybe 5-10 minutes later and I was seated immediately. For my reservation it was only 3 of us, a couple and myself. Dining alone I was nervous it may be awkward but the chef made me feel very welcome and I didn't miss any company! In fact, 9pm on Sunday's may be my go to reservation window for her. The drinks are top tier and the selection of fresh Nigiri + Handrolls was more than enough for me to leave satisfied although I did order an extra Waygu piece because I was truly that impressed. Drinks: 1. Ichigo Kisu 10/10: so refreshing and not too sweet! Only critique was the herbal garnish was a bit wilted but flavor was not affected 2. Tokyo Mule 9/10: love the ice presentation and extremely refreshing but I did feel like the ice may have affected the amount of actual liquid in the cup/amount of drink I cannot remember every piece we tried but some of the standout for me was the squid, fatty toro, Waygu, and scallop. I wish Jak was closer (almost 55 minute drive from me) but the service, energy, and food is absolutely worth visiting! I will be back again soon for another solo date. Jak Omakase is a great experience, and the price makes it sooooo worth it! Parking is a little confusing. The parking directly in front of the building gets filled very quickly, but there is a long stretch of spots on the left of the building in front of the apartment available to the retail area! The restaurant itself does not have a big sign quite yet, but it is directly next to Gu Thai. Inside, it goes for a very calm vibe. The lights are pretty dim, and they play a nice EDM playlist that my friends really enjoyed. The service was excellent. They were on top of giving us water, taking our order, and even gave us the playlist for the music. I think the only downside is that some of the menu is hard to read because of the small font, and it's dark inside. Our chef was Chef Joe, and he was excellent. He served all of the fish, and all of it was delicious. We had such a fun time, and I really liked that if the 15 courses wasn't enough, you could still order more. The omakase options were 12 pieces for $58 (lunch) or 15 pieces for $78 (dinner), and we were allowed to do the dinner menu at 2:30 PM. We went with dinner option since the 3 extra pieces were blue crab, A5 Wagyu, and freshwater eel and for just $20 extra, it's all well worth the price. The restaurant itself had all the ambiance of a traditional Japanese omakase restaurant where it was intimate and refined. We had just one server who was highly attentive to our needs, keeping a vigilant eye out for water/drink refills and the chefs always made sure we had enough ginger. The sushi was all delicious and tender, my favorites included sea bream, fatty tuna, scallop, and the obvious dinner items. Additionally, if there was something you really like you can order it individually off the menu I highly recommend this place as the quality at the price point cannot be beat especially around the Atlanta area. read more

There was very little interaction with the chef, other than him announcing what each item is and placing the food on our plates, which kinda sucked because I really didn't like how much wasabi he would put in each piece and I was too far on the edge of the table to tell him casually. I can handle spice but the wasabi would sometimes over power the flavor of the actual fish, and I would like to pay to taste the flavors of the item not wasabi. Hospitality was amazing but the cuisine was incredible!!!!! I got the 15 courses and it was dangerously delicious!!! This is my got to lunch spot from now. I dined here on Christmas Eve. I was thrilled to find out an omakase experience less than $100 finally made its way to GA. First, we were sat in the corner so we couldn't see the full menu of what we were receiving. They only had the full dinner menu without the daily omakase menu. There were no hand towels or anything to wipe with which is very common in a sushi eating experience. The biggest issue was the rice. It was undercooked and all the guests were aware of this. The couple next to us addressed this after the first piece yet nothing was done nor was there an apology. So we all endured several pieces after with undercooked/uncooked rice. Lastly. We were supposed to get uni, and the girl next to us yet again asked about it. The chef said it went bad or something but did not sub the 15th piece for anything else. There was hardly any communication or interaction with the sushi chef that night. Half of the pieces were also extremely saucy/salty, making it hard to focus on the fish profile itself. The place has potential and a good price point for the experience but it was not enjoyable at all. Couldn't match up to what we're eating with a paper menu either.
