We ordered: -Kari ($17) and added long beans & carrots ($3.50) -Gado Gado ($16) -Bubur ($16) with sides of Tempeh Orek ($7) and Acar Kuning ($6; pickled carrots and green beans). It has the heart of Portland beating through it, and at the same time, the plates they are pumping out are some of the most unique food one can find on the East Coast or West Coast. They offer a tasting menu and a la carte options. Just like their sister restaurants, they have a unique range of cocktails available, and an assortment of beers and wines. What really struck me about the restaurant was less about the food, more about the service. The service was so kind. I mean, really kind. The server we had, Emily, was one of the nicest people I've ever interacted with in table service. To be honest, that's more than enough to get me to go back. Egg on dish served cold, tofu was rubber and also cold. Sauce is super similar to the sate padang - tumeric/curry gravy essentially. 4. I did not taste curry at all, only coconut. Not a speck of curry flavor. It was weird, because the noodles were yellow...my brain kept expecting flavor that never came. It screamed for salt, and there was none on the table. It also left a bland, chalky coating on your tongue. The tofu in the dish was not good. The pieces were cut all different sizes and it had a musty bitter flavor that I was not expecting. I couldn't even eat it. I was also surprised that the dish lacked vegetables...it was garnished with raw red onion, cilantro, and some horrible dry store-bought brand crunchy noodles. My wife didn't even finish hers even though it was tiny. It was that bad. Worse than the food was the stupid robot waiter. We had to push a gross (obviously smeared and dirty) button to make the robot go away after bringing our food. And we could tell that the waitress was also annoyed by it, as she had to walk it through the restaurant like it was a toddler taking its first steps. So dumb. This was the worst and most expensive lunch I have had EVER. It is rare that I try a new place and don't like anything I try. It was kind of shocking, actually. I will never be back.
