This is a very cute new-to-me spot on the corner of Genesee and Oak. Street parking. There is some seating and they offer takeout. I reviewed the menu online - noting prices - before coming in. The prices online are not current and updated. For the breakfast I ordered it was a 20% increase in price when I got the bill. So make sure you review the menu inside if the online menu got you here. The food was very good. Without the price issue this would have been 4 stars. But - details matter. read more

Randomly stopped in here for a quick breakfast. Tiny little up service cafe in the lobby of the Westin Buffalo. Friendly people working here, and the food was great. Ordered a cappuccino with the Gary Style bacon sausage and egg sandwich. They put blueberry jam and hot sauce on it, it was great. We also had the breakfast burrito bowl and pancakes, bowl was really good, pancakes were tinyyy, 3 for $11 is steep but we're still good. Nice place, tad pricey, but definitely recommend. read more

What a lifesaver! I travel often for work and the location of Jakes Cafe is so convenient for my travel/dietary needs. I love the team who works there, always so positive, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile. It's a small well lit, clean cafe front in the Westin hotel. I've enjoyed many things on the menu for breakfast (omelettes, breakfast sandwiches, bowls and the overnight oats) and for lunch I've mostly had the grab and go salads or sandwiches. I appreciate how fresh and healthy everything is. I wish they stayed open longer but I understand they are breakfast and lunch only. The prices are also really reasonable. If you are ever nearby definitely check this place out. read more

As a work environment: this place is A-OK. I can't comment much on the food; I just came here for a cup of coffee and some free wifi and stayed here for a few hours and was fairly productive. Jake's Cafe is located inside the Westin in the Delaware North building. The wifi worked well and the coffee was A-OK. I didn't eat anything so I can't comment on the food, but the menu had salads, sandwiches and burgers. The space was bright and had a large window to the street, so a decent place to go watch the world go by. read more

This place was excellent. We are in town for my daughters cheerleading event. We walked over From m the Hyatt for breakfast. About a 7min walk. Everthing was great. Kids had pancakes and an egg sandwich. I had an omelette with hash browns. Everything was tasty and we finished it all. Reasonably priced as well. read more

If you're staying at the Westin, this is a great option for a quick bite (and much less expensive). The cashier was speedy and really friendly. I had the chicken teriyaki rice bowl for $8 and was impressed: brown rice, fresh veggies, and the chicken was tender (almost like BBQ-style pulled chicken). I gotta tell ya: eating near a hotel lobby, I was expecting some over-priced, bone-dry chicken and hard rice -- I was wrong. Jakes has good food and a great staff. Skip the room service. So many good things to say. I work nearby and this morning smelled my coworker's coffee from here. With Starbucks and Spot closed it was time to try something new. Although the Westin is currently shut down, this is the place we've recently found and is still open during the Covid pandemic. For those who live and work downtown, this is easily one of the best lunch spots in the city. Good food, reasonably priced, and friendly staff! Initial customer service was horrible. Small cafe, however the order wasn't right (ordered scrambled eggs and cheese they provided sunny side up), and food was cold. They didn't provide proper utensils and syrup and butter with the order resulting in food being cold because as I had to wait for the additional items. When they did provide the butter it was ice cold so couldn't put that on cold pancakes. Save your money it's not worth paying for the breakfast here. After speaking with management they rectified the situation and provided new hot pancakes. Cody provided excellent customer service in the end. read more

The food is delicious! I got the chicken teriyaki rice bowl and it's wonderful. There are grape tomatoes, zucchini, squash, eggplant and brown rice. The chicken is tender you can watch them cook right the flavors are great, the service was quick and fast. I got mine to-go so that I could sit in the lobby near the fireplace. read more

Probably the worst cafe I have ever been to before. The reviews are so misleading. 2 people working, as it is a small cafe inside a hotel, the lady charged me for avocado on my breakfast burrito, and never gave it to me even though she repeated it back to me and the chef at least 3 times to put it on it. I also ordered bacon on the burrito and they put it on the side; served it to me cold. All of their food is premade/frozen including the cheese. A man after me asked for shredded cheese for his cup of chili he ordered and the lady lied and said they didn't have any, when she just put some on my breakfast burrito. They are definitely not trying to do more than bare minimum here. The burrito was the most bland i've ever tasted even with the sausage; which was clearly made days ago as it's so hard and chewy. $20 for a meal that made my stomach hurt after 2 bites of garbage. Would not recommend. I also needed to stop for a cappuccino, they said the cappuccino machine was broken and it wasn't and offered me coffee that's been sitting since 7 am, gross. read more

Had both the chicken salad and the burger. (1. Chicken) The chicken in the salad wasnt even grilled it looked like it came out of a processed bag. Also the chicken was chewy which also feels indicative of processes, warmed up chicken. (2. Burger) The burger you would think would be easy to perfect but again disappointed. The initial taste after biting in had a strange unexpected flavor. Seemed like the burger/bacon was glazed with something and ultimately it was just wasn't good. It seems like some refinements need to occur especially being in the CBD and serving such a potentially large weekday lunch crowd. Def not worth the money. Many other locations that offer higher quality food, constructed better and all for a better price. If Jake's wants to compete with the long-time staple lunch contenders they need to do a lot of work if they want to earn that business. read more

I had breakfast last Thursday. Egg sandwich... I should have just ate a box of salt and pepper. The cardboard box would have tasted better than my sandwich. Gave it another try the next day for lunch. I decided to try the make your own salad. Can't go wrong with creating your own salad right? Needless to say I will not be returning.
