This was our first time here, we had been wanting to check it out for some time.. We were in the mood for a burger, so we stopped by. We were seated immediately, the ambiance was relaxing and clean.. football and baseball were on the TV's which was very nice.. our Waiter Neil was at our table within 1 minute of being seated, he was very friendly and courteous.. he listened intently to our order and read it back, it was all correct. Our food arrived within 10 minutes.. both of our burgers were wrong, it was like the kitchen staff never really read the order.. Neil apologized profusely and took it back to the kitchen, our new food came back within 5 minutes.. this time my companion's burger was right.. mine looked right until I bit into it and my mouth burned from the scratch to the roof of my mouth made by a very well done patty and hickory sauce?? I had ordered medium rare and plain mayo.. So Neil was apologizing again and I could tell he was upset bc he wanted our order to be right.. back to the kitchen again.. this time Manager Kaelyn came and talked to me, apologies were given and she wanted to hear exactly what I wanted, she said she herself was going to prepare my burger and she did ! It was sooo good! She made things right for me and she gave us a free Mello cake for desert.. it was her care and handling of the situation that I'm not giving a big fat zero to Jakes uptown.. the cook staff CLEARLY need more training in attention to detail, the need to turn the grill down !! The burgers were burnt to heck and so were the fries .. my friend was so hungry she just ate hers and didn't say anything, but she didn't enjoy it .. So to recap; Manager Kaelyn 5 Stars !! I was a little apprehensive about trying out the new location near my house given the mixed reviews, but decided to give it a shot since I was working from home today and flying solo. I am glad I did! I had a great burger, really tasty fries, and really fantastic service seated at the bar. I did get there early and there weren't too many people there yet so they were not stressed at all...maybe service would have suffered had conditions been different, but based on my own personal experience I was quite pleased! The burger was cooked and seasoned perfectly, as were the fries. Service was friendly and accommodating. All in all just a great freakin' lunch. Like I mentioned earlier, I wasn't sure how things would go so maybe expectations were a little low coming in, but I can't think of a thing I would have changed my visit today. Unless I could be younger, thinner, and better looking...but I won't hold Jake's responsible for those shortcomings! Although they could have an adverse effect on the thinner part. Our office went for lunch, food was actually wonderful but we will not return due to service. After sitting at our table for 15 minutes with NO ONE coming to help us another lady apologized and said she would be our waitress since who ever was supposed to have our table was MIA. So Casey saved the day and was very sweet. We felt so bad for her though because she was running her tail off, while it looked like the entire rest of the staff was gathered in a corner cutting up and goofing off. One of our girls said excuse me to another waitress (Amanda), and the waitress looked strait at her and walked away not even acknowledging her. WOW! I saw the same waitress walk away from one of her own tables when the guy was still trying to talk to her. Had a scowl on her face the entire time too. First of all, I enjoy their food. It's nothing special, but it's hard to mess up a good burger. However, Jakes Uptown Frisco has to have the worst customer service in the city! I must be a glutton for punishment because every time I go there it gets worse, and worse. We sat at a high top by the bar on Sunday night Jan 18. Bar tender took our order and then pretty much ignored us. Every time she made eye contact, she ran the other way. Then a group of five waitresses/bar tender/manager sat in the corner joking and laughing throughout the night for long periods. Their Manager, wearing the black shirt, sat and watched the football game all night. Meanwhile we sat and waited on food (which came out heat lamped to death), refills, an addition to our order, our check, etc. The place wasn't very busy and it took over two hours to get in an out. We ever had to wait twenty minutes cause one PC broke down, yet all the others worked. Every time we come to this place, you get sub-quality customer service. Not any more from this guy. read more

I'm really upset with this place. My family and I were wanting to eat while attending the Frisco Arts on the Square. Jakes Uptown should have been packed with customers and it wasn't. We noticed that customers were eating breakfast and we thought this would be great. When the waitress came to take our order, we ordered breakfasts. She said that breakfast is only until 11:00. It was 11:30 and there was no mention on the menu that breakfast ends at 11. This was frustrating and thus we needed more time to find a meal on the menu. We got burgers. My son who is 11 had to order double beef because the patties are so small. Everything is sort of overpriced and fries DO NOT come with the meals. Really for the prices, it should come with fries. The food also took quite a while to arrive. The food was good, just not enough for the price. I can see why we had no wait to be seated during a major Frisco event. read more

It's a good thing the burgers are so good because the service is horrible. My daughter and I visited the Frisco location recently and I guess I'd forgotten how bad it is. I was quickly reminded by the scantily dressed waitresses on their phones and a table full of them visiting and laughing it up while we waited and waited. We are convinced that unless you have a penis, you will be ignored. I suppose men are better tippers when their waitresses butt cheeks are hanging out. The food is forgettable. I was really excited for my Flaming Hot Dog, but it wasn't anything special even for a hot dog. The waitresses wear short, tight shorts but really are pretty sarcastic and seem uncaring. The beer selection is okay, but I really don't like the massive, heavy schooners they serve it in. It's fine for certain beers but not for everything on tap. Also, we were trying to get our TV switched to college basketball, and asked about 5 times before it finally got changed...to the NBA. We decided to just live with it, and the waitress was telling us that they had a discussion about MLB - Major League Basketball being what we wanted, which was why MLB (baseball) stayed on the TV before it kept being changed. Isn't this a sports bar? Shouldn't there be someone in the place that knows about sports enough to handle the television channels? Really wanted to enjoy my meal but couldnt. My burger was OVERLOADED with poopy seeds, I mean come on, the bottom bun was nothing but seed. Yes I am familiar with the poopy seed buns but still. We went back to Jake's on Monday because it was a beautiful day! This was the best experience we've ever had at Jake's! We were greeted and seated quickly on the clean patio. Our waitress was awesome! She was very helpful with the menu and brought us our drinks in a timely manner. The staff members were very friendly and working as a team. The food was great too! It's a shame when the wait-staff is the face of your resaurant, and it stinks, it really doesn't matter how good the food is. You will lose customers everytime. Been three times. Two times the wait staff was decently-ok, but the third attitudinal waitress ruined it for good. Last time for that. Too many other places to go in Frisco, that have a nice welcoming staff and comfortable surroundings, like Kenney's Burger joint, to waste money or time at the Frisco's Jake's. We were reluctant to go because of all the reviews mentioning bad service, but we have been half a dozen times so far with good service (Saturday and Sunday afternoons). Tater tot orders are a little small for the price and desert orders are a little small for the price, but the burgers are good and the beer prices are decent. My husband and I have been to this restaurant/location about 4 times over the last year. Each time we received poor service but kept returning because we love the food so much. During our most recent visit, we ordered our food as take-out hoping to avoid having to interact with the staff. Unfortunately this didn't work as our order was incorrect and took longer than usual to prepare. I was served french fries in one carry out bag then waited about 20 minutes to get the hamburger I ordered. Of course by that point I was frustrated and didn't care to eat cold fries. Yesterday I decided to give Jakes one last try. My girlfriend and I went there for lunch. We were thrilled to get out of the 90 degree weather outside. We were seated right away by the hostess but our waitress failed to promptly attend to us. After about 10 minutes, our waitress finally greeted us and took our order. My friend and I noticed it was pretty warm in the restaurant and saw several other patrons fanning themselves. Our waitress returned to the table to bring our food and could obviously see that we were uncomfortable in the heat. We politely requested she turn down the air conditioning as it was growing increasingly warmer. At this time our waitress informed us the A/C was broken. You can imagine our frustration as both the the waitress and hostess had numerous opportunities to disclose the faulty A/C but chose to withhold this information until after taking our order. We asked our waitress to discuss a discount with the manager as a good faith gesture for enduring the heat. She quickly returned to our table advising that the manager had declined our request. I eventually asked if I could speak directly to the manager as I wanted to gently explain to him that his disregard for our comfort would most certainly result in loss of our future business. Another woman returned to our table but was not the manager. She too dismissed our request and instead made us feel like we were an inconvenience to them. My friend and I felt helpless and trapped as our order was almost ready and we had already consumed our drinks. Thus, we decided to stay for the meal. At this point we gave up on trying to meet with the manager and simply requested our bill so we could pay and escape the uncomfortable restaurant. My friend and I sat in the heat another 10 minutes anxiously awaiting our ticket so we could pay our bill and leave. While we waited, we noticed a gentleman checking on each table and asking how their experience was. This was clearly the manager. He eventually got to our table asked if we had enjoyed our meal. I advised him that while the food was very good as usual, we were extremely disappointed with the service and the failure to disclose the lack of AC up front. He reluctantly agreed to give us a discount and made us feel like we were unreasonable to expect a comfortable dining experience. While I do appreciate him giving us a discount in the end I was disappointed that I had to go through so much to obtain it. When we requested the restaurant provide us with a discount, we were looking less for money and more for a heartfelt apology and some sign that the staff cares about its patrons and strives to make each dining experience an enjoyable one. Had we known about the lack of AC we certainly would have dined elsewhere. We understand that these things happen and would have gladly returned another time once the A/C was operational. Unfortunately this management's complete disregard for customer service has cost them two customers. read more

My family and I went there to eat because we were told how great it was, but when we first arrived I thought I was at twin peaks because skanky wait staff attire. Then when we got our food the burgers were half cooked and the so called famous onion rings tast like something from the freezer isle at wallyworld. Our waitress Caitlynn was wonderful and made sure that the food was taken back and cooked properly. This review is for their happy hour. We arrived at 5:30 pm on a Friday night and stayed for a couple hours. There was a big group of us, so we sat towards the inside where the smaller room is located. We had a variety of appetizers for $3, some of us had beer and cosmos for $2 and others had other cocktails for $3. The service was prompt considering how large our party was and how busy they were (full of parents to attend the high school football game across the street). We had double orders of fried pickles, fried mozzarella, chicken tenders, and fried stuffed jalapenos. Everything was very good and the drinks were good--surprisingly not watered-down like most happy hour drinks. I had to stop at two drinks because I was starting to feel a bit tipsy. I scanned the rest of the menu and I would like to go back again to have a meal. I hope Jake's sticks around and weathers the poor reviews because we definitely will be back. read more

Well, my husband said he wanted a burger for Father's Day & chose Jake's. We arrived at 11:45 & the hostess seemed very annoyed that we were there. She then informed us that breakfast service had ended & it would be around 20-25 minutes before lunch items would be ready. We decided to go ahead & stay & were seated in a filthy booth. (If this is what their tables look like then what does their kitchen look like?) we were just about to get up & leave when our waitress (who was actually very sweet surprisingly) came up & told us it would be at least an hour until we could get lunch because they were running 40 minutes on getting their breakfast items out & they only have 1 area to cook. The restaurant was only about half-full. This is absolutely ridiculous! If you can't do both breakfast & lunch efficiently, then it's time to pick one or the other. I'm sure this won't be an issue much longer though because I just can't fathom how a restaurant with such poor management& customer service can stay in business much longer. Went in for breakfast this morning and was asked inside or out? We said inside so the hostess sat us inside next to the big roll up windows. That's fine. After about 10 minutes the (I assume) manager comes over next to one side of our booth and unlocks the window, walks around our booth to the other side and in locks it and raises the window all the way up. The wind blows in blowing paper products off the table and a chilly wind in on us. He doesn't say a thing and just walks off. My wife says to me, guess we did want to sit outside! I tried giving this place a second chance and boy do I regret it! My company had a going away party for a co-worker which was reserved a week in advance to reserve the room for roughly 20 people and when we showed up they had no reservation for anything, luckily the room was still available and we were able to sit in the room but it all went downhill from there. They had only one waiter serving 20 people, which by the way he was awesome trying to accommodate all of us at one time. The place was empty and there were 3 waitresses just standing around talking and chit chatting when they could have been helping him at least serve us, it took more than 20 mins to get our drinks, it took an hour for one of my coworker's to get his salad and then when the orders of food were brought to the table the food was cold, after we had enough we went to grab a manager who couldn't be found for 30 mins so the bartender had to come over and speak to us, which by the way had major attitude which she was most likely upset because the manager didn't want to come out and address the situation, when he decided to come out he made excuses and tried to blame other people. He didn't care and it showed. This place is a joke and needs to be shut down. The service is awful, the vibe is negative. You can tell that everyone that works here is unhappy and I see why after meeting the manager. The owner needs to take a hard look at who he or she has hired to run this place because they are costing this person tons of money due to the careless attitudes and horrible customer service. Wake up owner!! You are in one of the fastest growing cities in Texas, step your game up and treat you customers with more respect! We deserve quality food and quality service. Your burger place is not the only place in Frisco and it's def not the best by any means!! Stop allowing your staff to treat paying customers like trash! P.S. I hope the waiter we had wakes up too and moves to a place that will appreciate the skills he has..Oh, and thanks for ruining what should have been a fun and eventful night for my friend!! Stopped in here after Edgefest 2015 for a bite to eat. The restaurant next door was closing at 11pm..after a music fest with lots of people??? Jakes was pretty full but we arrived just in time before the horse of Edgefesters. We were immediately sat by the manager. I had thought he was a hostess-looked so young! he was very welcoming. :) the place seemed a bit short staffed and I applaud everyone for their great teamwork. We immediately received our waters and waited a bit for the beers, but it was busy! There were a few servers checking in on us throughout the dining which was great. We ordered the jalapeño poppers. Tasty, not bad for frozen item. These definitely have a kick of heat. We shared the Flaming Rooster, which was done right as always. And enjoyed jumping jake fries. Mmmm! The food is good. I was impressed with the steady flow of things when there was s huge rush of people at the end of the night. The manager remained calm and pleasant. The servers were calm too. Everyone had a smile and were helping each other out. Great teamwork!!!! read more

Terrible service!. At 830 on a Saturday, we walk in, immediately sat down with no wait and plenty of empty tables. We sat over ten minutes and nobody came to wait on us. The waitresses were standing around hostess table talking. We had to go to hostess table and ask who our waitress was and we were told they didn't know. Eventually a girl walked over and said Megan could not take us and she was going to pick up her table. It took longer to get a drinks than it did our food and Megan sat around taking to bar tender. Manager spent just as much time chatting with waitresses instead of properly running this place. Train your staff. We will never come back. read more

I've really tried to like this place. Convenient location for me, so I've been multiple times to meet up with friends or business associates.. Maybe an average burger on a good day giving them some benefit of credit. I don't care for the poppy seed buns - they're usually out of regular buns. Their breakfast is better - though not many choices on the menu. I do love the open patio doors on a nice day - although flies inside are horrible after that. The last time I met someone there for a business breakfast, there were literally a dozen flies at our table (seriously - no exaggeration.) They don't seem to do anything to try and get rid of them. My number one problem with this location (the other Jakes locations have been good) is the worst uncaring managers and servers (untrained, bad attitudes) that I have encountered anywhere. I hope they get their act together here someday - I'd love to return. In the meantime I go to Kenny's Burgers (on Legacy) - further out of the way for me - but absolutely fantastic food and service! read more

Went in with the family last night. The place wasn't too busy. Our waitress seemed to be. Someone else got our drinks. When we finally ordered, the food did come out fast. Fries were great but my burger was terrible. I ordered the blue cheese bacon burger. The blue cheese might as well been gravy. There was far too much. I couldn't taste anything else. I only ate half of it because it was so bad. No one came back to check on us. The waitress brought our check and we left quickly. There is no reason for this restaurant not be to counter services.
