Superb food. I always get their breakfast deals because it's cheap and delicious. Good service, where the waitresses remember what you want to order, and give you your food quickly. Their butter is pre-melted and salty, so it tastes like HEAVEN on their delicious toast. I don't have to pre-heat my butter on a spoon on top of my tea. Yay! Really the best diner in town. I went to Sylvester's once and came back to Jake's the next day. The bacon is usually really good, and they always make the toast just right. And their waffles are AMAZING. This place is definitely my favorite in Northampton, hands down. read more

Have now been a few times for brunch since Jake's entered new ownership, and have to say I've been mostly impressed. The benedict specials have been inventive and quite good. They're very accommodating of requests, and even when it's packed, you can usually find a spot at the bar if it's just you and a friend. My one complaint, however, is the mimosas. They are absolutely TINY for what you pay. I would suggest not bothering unless they correct this. Overall, though, it certainly beats the "other" brunch spot down the street... both in quality and wait times. read more

Best pancakes I've ever had. Honestly, I don't even like pancakes. But I can't get enough of the ones at Jake's. I don't know what they do to them! The other food there is wonderful as well. I moved to CA recently and desperately miss my morning visits to Jakes with friends. This place is as good as my favorite breakfast joint in Honolulu, but cheaper. The toast is impressive, and they supply real fruit preserves. The ingredients are top notch, and service is fast, friendly, and efficient. Expect to wait 15-20 minutes for a table, but its worth it. Went for breakfast, was sat by the door which was drafty and meant everyone who came in was sort of hovering over while I ate, but thankfully they were seating people really quickly. Our server was friendly and funny, I really loved the home fries with the added toppings (I went a little crazy on toppings) and my husband said the lox and bagel had a "refreshing" flavor. We had to wait quite a while for our check, but overall we enjoyed ourselves and would return. read more

I go to this place quite often, and it is without a doubt my favorite breakfast spot in Northampton. The food itself is 100; personally I recommend trying Downtown with a side of avocado, or house hash (unless it's salmon, the roast salmon hash they had a couple days ago was a little fishy and smelled quite strong). Any of the sandwiches is also an excellent choice, my personal favorite is Jake's Cuban. I would stay away from their omelet though, it's not bad, but there are just way too many better options. Overall, it's very unlikely that you would be unsatisfied with the food here. The staff is very friendly and accommodating as well, the only downside of this place is that it's not terribly spacious and it gets a little cold inside during winter times. Expect a line on the weekends. read more

If you're looking for a small spot, with great food Jake's is great for breakfast! My boyfriend and I went here for breakfast today. I have the country Benedict, and he had a byo omelet. We both loved our meals. Beware of the coffee, it is very strong, but also extremely bitter in taste. We both ended up with Mapleline Chocolate Milk, which is delicious. Unfortunately, we tried to joke with the waitress, but she seemed unenthused (probably due to them being so busy). Overall a great place for food. read more

I have had many great meals at Jakes (my go to is the breakfast burrito-it's amazing) but today's breakfast was just so damn good I can't keep it to myself. There is often a wait, but it's worth it. Service as always was efficient and friendly keeping my coffee hot and full. Get the pancakes, they are great, get their hash (my meat eating friends swear by it) get their special Benedict (as I did today). Get whatever sounds good, You won't be disappointed. read more

Yum! I love hash and every time I order hash of the day I am pleasantly surprised. Andouille cornbread jalapeño hash- very good. Eggs Benedict was great too. I worked here 25 years ago under original owner than 2nd owner. I loved it back then when it was the local coffee and breakfast joint and we had great eggs Benedict on Sunday, jakes special omelette, home fries with cheese. It was all good but the newest owners have stepped it up finally getting good coffee and bringing creative yet traditional elements into the menu. Be fore warned, orders are big for breakfast so may want to share or pair it down ( e.g.: one pancake rather than full order of 3). read more

The best breakfast I have ever had at a restaurant. The wait was worth it. I recommend getting the eggs benedict, biscuits, pancakes and house hash. We also ordered biscuits and gravy which I would not recommend, mostly because we did not enjoy the gravy. The eggs benedict came with a salad which was great! Very reasonably priced as well. The grits, the grits, the grits. This place is LOVE. The servers are attentive, the coffee...well, ya know. It's coffee. It does the job.

Prices were a little high but the portions were large as well. Good food and great Hamp atmosphere.

A go-to Northampton Breakfast spot! My wife and I love this place. It can get busy on the weekends but the wait is worth it. Excellent daily Hash specials and egg scrambles such as 'The Downtown' (my favorite). Great coffee, service and food. Skip Sylvester's (Jake's has better loaded potatoes!). Skip the Green Bean (the lines there are nuts!). Skip Esselon (it's too much of a hike and you're freaking starving!). Head to Jakes! read more
