Jake's is a great choice for breakfast in Northampton! I meet up here every year for my birthday - this year I had Huevos Rancheros and they had a cinnamon bun that was just so warm and delicious. Jakes always has a great option for vegetables for those who don't like a lot of meat and the mimosas are always a great choice to pair with a Sunday Brunch. The servers are always super helpful and have always given great suggestions if you need help choosing between a few things being offered.

We were visiting the area for a day and the menu here looked perfect for us. The space is really cute so we had high hopes. My lox and guacamole toast was not very good. The lox had a weird and overly salted taste and strange texture. It was almost more like pastrami. The color was not typical either- and I frequently eat bagels with lox. My mom's eggs were fine, the hash browns weren't hot enough and needed to be cooked more and seasoned. The bacon was so chewy and more like ham. Our server did not offer to refill our drinks and even when I asked for more water, I didn't get any. The bathroom is downstairs and it felt unclean/sketchy down there. The only item we liked was the sticky bun which came from a local bakery. We won't be going back and I wouldn't recommend this spot.

Visiting friends and we tried Jakes... To start, the service was excellent. They were attentative, friendly, and helpful. We had a local made soda and great food. They have real maple syrup that I highly recommend. My table was also thrilled over the thick cut and crispy bacon. My husband got an omelet with sausage in it that was very well made and noted he loved the potatoes it came with. Everything we ordered came out fresh, accurate, and very well made. Lastly, I ordered coffee, half expecting to get a diner quality fix,but their coffee was AMAZING. And im a Starbucks brat by nature so im not easily impressed in that department.

Food - 8/10 Service - 8/10 Great brunch place, it's a cute little place with a more rustic feel. The workers were really nice and we were able to get a table quickly even though they were busy. The food was good definitely needed to add a little hot sauce to it though.

Adorable spot in downtown Northampton! I've been to Jake's a number of times over the years, and it continues to deliver top-quality food every single time. I've never once been disappointed! Most recently, my boyfriend and I split a sweet-and-savory combo--the Downtown scramble and a stack of buttermilk chocolate chip pancakes--and it hit every craving perfectly. The pancakes were fluffy and rich, and the Downtown was hearty and well-seasoned. The staff is always so kind and welcoming, and the vibe is cozy without feeling cramped. Between the consistently great service and amazing food, Jake's remains one of my all-time favorite breakfast spots. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and looking for a reliable, delicious brunch!

Another hidden gem while traveling! Cute place, great food. Portions and prices are great. Enjoyed the eggs Benedict. Many varieties of eggs Benedict to choose from, do wish they had it the classic with Canadian bacon. Must try the hot cider .

We stopped here for breakfast. A nice place with really good food and attentive service. It has the feel of a small pub.

"I'll trust in you And know that you Will wait for me" (Lennon and McCartney) Jake's (next door to the old Calvin Theater which has sadly closed) was jam packed when we arrived at 10:30 on a Sunday morning. It was a 45-minute wait before we were seated at an outdoor table. Our fantastic server, Amina, told us Jake's is always busy on the weekends because its one of the very few places in Northampton that serves a brunch type meal. Their menu reflects their 8-3 hours, so we saw plenty of eggs and hash dishes, plus french toast, biscuits and gravy, and breakfast sandwiches. If you don't want to go the breakfast route, have no worries because Jakes's has salads, burgers, sandwiches, tacos, chili, and bowls. They also have some specials hidden on the back of the drink menu, and we missed them completely. We ordered their breakfast tacos and they were fantastic. Each taco was a double corn tortilla packed with scrambled eggs, black beans and a delicious pico de gallo. I could have added a protein (one option was a soy), but I really didn't need it because the tacos were huge. And were a great bargain at just $8. My wife ordered a single buttermilk pancake ($7) with a chocolate chip upgrade ($1), and it was a pretty good sized pancake. The food was great, but I thought their $3.50 charge for a coffee or an iced coffee was a bit high. Anyway, we had a lovely brunch, the food was great, and Amina was a real delight to interact with.

After finishing a race in the area, I was dying for sustenance, specifically, a burger. Jake's looked like it had plenty of options. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, not bad at all, and we spent some time wandering around the area and looking at shops before our name was called. (They utilize the nifty Yelp waitlist, so you can track where you are in line.) Burger was simple but excellent (as someone who's not usually into red meat), held together okay, and had a tasty sauce. If you get all the options like my husband (guac, egg, bacon), it will absolutely require a fork and knife to eat, but I like to keep my burger simple and didn't have any issues with things plopping out along the sides. I was in the mood for fries but they only offered home fries, so went with cole slaw instead. Curry tomato bisque was solid, with a mild kick. I primarily wanted something hot. The table next to us was gushing about the hash and eggs Benedict, so if we're ever in the area again, I'll try that. Our waiter was super nice and food came out blessedly quickly. Parking: no issues finding a street spot nearby, and parking is free on Sundays.

We had our pup with us, so spots where we could sit down were even more limited, but luckily, a lunch at Familiars was only a very long line away. I'm not from here, so from just the outside and where you order, I thought they were a cafe first with food options, but nope. Definitely wrong, they make a great sandwich. And the coffees were also delicious! Baristas and team were all friendly, the space inside was very cool, cozy and comfortable and they had plenty of outside tables as well. You order at the counter and they will bring all of the food out to you, you also grab your own waters inside. A nice mix of casual and service. First, tons of outdoor seating, the outside is gorgeous and so welcoming. I got one of their spring specials, the Sugar Bush Latte. The latte had the perfect amount of flavor and not too much sweetness (which I prefer). Before I left, I also got an iced black tea and an iced americano for my husband. The iced black tea was perfection, flavorful yet still bitter. The iced americano (unsweet) confirmed that their espresso was DELISH.

We started with the beets and peas salad, which was bursting with flavor--our plates were practically licked clean. The house arugula salad was crisp, fresh, and perfectly balanced with a light, lemony vinaigrette. For mains, we shared the roasted half chicken and the bucatini. Both were phenomenal. I rarely order chicken at restaurants since it often feels too plain, but this one was perfection--crispy skin, juicy meat, and seasoning that carried through every bite. The bucatini, made with homemade pasta and loaded with crispy pancetta, was absolutely irresistible. We couldn't resist finishing with the "Little Mason Jar" dessert, which was indulgent and delicious. Everything--from the service to the food to the ambiance--was exceptional. We got there around 1:40 p.m. and they closed at 2, so my friend was a little worried, but we were still welcomed and the staff was very friendly. It's a small place, but I actually liked that it felt cozy. We ordered 12 oysters, two orders of gumbo, a kale Caesar salad, the catfish special to split, and a bourbon-based drink. The oysters were $2 each, which I thought was a pretty good deal. The gumbo was really, really good. It came out a little lukewarm, but the flavor was absolutely there 10/10. The oysters were fresh and also 10/10. The bourbon drink was another standout. The presentation was beautiful, the little flower was such a nice touch, and it tasted just as good as it looked. The kale Caesar was where things dipped a little. It was pretty dry, so we asked for extra dressing, but the dressing didn't really add much flavor. When our waitress checked in, we were honest and said it just wasn't our favorite. I hate sending food back or complaining. I'll usually just stop eating it but she was so kind and apologetic. What really stood out was how they handled it. They told us they were taking the salad off the bill, which they absolutely did not have to do. We had planned to just take the one we had already eaten from home and fix it ourselves, but one of the staff members made us a completely new salad to go. She even massaged the kale so it was actually tender and enjoyable. That was such a thoughtful touch. The catfish was a hit for my friend. It wasn't my favorite, but I still ate it. Overall, I would definitely come back. Next time I'd probably keep it simple; oysters, gumbo, and a drink and I'd be happy. The service was phenomenal, and honestly, service really makes a place. Feeling welcomed and comfortable matters, and this place absolutely gave that.
